  1. We just returned from a 16 night cruise on Cunard Queen Elizabeth, from Singapore to Tokyo. Our first port stop was Ho Chi Minh City and we hired Xuan Le as our tour guide.  Prior to embarking on the trip, he was responsive to all email inquiries. He and his driver picked us up at the ship and drove us into the city. His tours were exceptional, taking us to a local temple and a spot on the river to enjoy local coffee. We enjoyed a rickshaw ride thru the crazy market streets!  He took us to a beautiful local restaurant and ordered the food for us, explaining how to eat it.  Our subsequent tours were through the cruise line and I constantly compared them to Xuan's--his was the best.  If you are travelling to Vietnam, I highly recommend his services.  You will not be disappointed!

  2. Thank you Mitsugirly for another great cruise review!  Your pictures speak volumes of the fun you and your family have and the beauty of the Caribbean Sea!  We live on St. Croix and often enjoy the cruises out of San Juan!  Let Sakari know that mermaids live on St Croix—this one wished my husband a happy birthday!!!   Look forward to your next posting—and sending good vibes and prayers your way for you and your family!

  3. Can’t say we got any discounted costs, but we did the Chefs Table for the first time last year on Jewel of the Seas and loved it!  Conversations were great—we had sailed RCCL in the past but learned so much from seasoned folks.  Food and wine made for an awesome night.  We are on Navigator of the Seas this summer and already have it booked.  Now that I see these posts, maybe I should have waited—but it is only a   4 night cruise and did not want to miss out!  Bottom line—if not booking specialty restaurants and you enjoy good food and wine and interesting people—along with great service—why not??🍷. Cheers!

Enjoying your review, re-visited Celebrity last year on Summit and think we need to do another!  If you can download apps on board—SkyView Lite is fun—point phone up and see what stars are there!!  Enjoy your cruise!!

Whoops—ignore that app—trying to use it now and appears it is under construction!  Save your internet minutes for your fun review!!

  5. To OP—as residents of St Croix, many of our cruises have started/ended in SJU.  We did an Easter cruise in 2011 on Adventure of the Seas and had an awesome time. Since the storms in 2017, we did 2 cruises out of SJU—with no issues.  They rank as tops in my book—one on RCCL (Jewel of the Seas) and the other on Celebrity. As for staying in Condado or Isla Verde, we have enjoyed many MANY weekend get aways in those areas and always had a great experience.  As they say, no worries, it will be a good time —you are on vacation!  😎

  6. Hi Sid—enjoying your adventures on the Breakaway—we did the Getaway last year—and had Vibe passes!! So fun!  Your sea urchin story reminded me of another—sitting on the beach here on my home island of St Croix and watching some folks run in to the water on a rocky beach and run out—then sit down and look at their feet!  As they were leaving they told us to watch out for the SPLINTERS in the water😂😂! At least I did not need to pee on their feet!!

  7. We recently returned from the Summit sailing out of SJU—one of the reasons that we chose this ship was for the wine—their main dining room, The Cosmopolitan, received the Wine Spectaor Award=great selection. We splurged on the Cellarmaster Dinner—-awesome!  If you love wine and good food —do it!!!  Enjoy your cruise!!

  8. We also recently returned from the Summit sailing out of San Juan—we had the 5 wine bottle package and dined every night but one in the MDR—The Cosmopolitan—for us, the service was outstanding.  We had any time dining—but enjoyed our table mates and servers so much the first night, reserved with them for the remainder of the cruise.  Best wine experience—our sommelier was right there.  At the Martini Bar, I will agree —super busy—even with 2 bartenders, they had their hands full.  But other bars were never a problem.  Just my 2 cents worth.

  9. :)Does anyone know what to go for the Vibe pass on the Getaway? Thought it was guest service desk but saw a couple of days ago that it was at the Headliners?? Thanks :)

Ooops—my bad! Saw another thread. Looks like it is Headliners now—weird, as was just on the ship—good luck and hope I did not confuse you too much[emoji33]!

  11. what is the best way to get Vibe Club Passes for Getaway without priority boarding....is it even possible?

We were on the Getaway for 8/12 sailing and were successful in getting Vibe passes. The terminal did not open till 9am. There were maybe 5 people ahead of us? When they opened the terminal, it was to line up in front of security for another hour. Once we received our sea pass card, we went upstairs and got Group 1 boarding. That is important. We boarded after Platinum and Handicap/Assist. We made the dash to Guest Services and were #26 and 27. It seems like a lot of effort but we had to try. It was worth the effort!! Good luck and enjoy your cruise[emoji41]!

  12. Here is a thought—bring a cup with an acrylic reusable straw—as someone that lives in the Caribbean, we are trying to reduce our use of plastic straws and cups. I will be on the Getaway in 2 weeks and this cup will be with me! Will work great for the Miami Vice! My island is St Croix!
