Yes, you can swap the DosXX for whatever other beer brand is available from room service. In case you're not aware, you can also swap the spirits, sparkling mineral water and mixers if you wish. Ring room service to do so. Cheers and Bon Voyage. Neptune

Yes, same quality Princess musicians & dancers, same Princess shows (which you may have seen on previous ships), as well as guest artists, trio/quartet/pianist etc playing in atrium/bars, theme nights (tropical, western etc).
Rooms not smaller to me; I use balcony or minisuite. If you check Princess site, you can compare room areas; just the layout may be slightly different, furniture is standard type, no walk in robe area in inside, oceanview & balcony cabins, but plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. There is a walk in robe & many drawers/storage in minisuites & suites, balcony furniture ok, had the new Princess comfy mattress & bedding, same bathroom type/size!!! except minisuite on Sea had HUGE bathroom with spa bath (some say larger than the newer ships) As Sun, Sea and former Dawn are sisters, they're same layout, etc. I haven't been in a suite on Sun class ships.
Sun is a cosy feeling ship; I like the motion of these, you might come across the same person again on the cruise - unlike on the bigger newer Princesses , if you like to meet people again!

that's good news. Bon Voyage!

I've sailed on Sun, Sea & Dawn and many other Princess classes. Haven't been on Sun for a while.
If you like the old feel of sailing, as I do, Sun class are perfect IMO. Less pax. Depending whether you like the extra dining options, there's not as many restaurants/dining rooms. Sterling Steakhouse was in a designated area of Horizons. Sun has real teak decking (not that fake stuff!) on Promenande Deck which goes full length (no stairs at bow like newer ones). There is no Skywalkers for Elite/Platinum for 5-7pm drinks/canape buffet, though nightclub area (Deck 7 midships) was used on Sea this year; no view like Skywalkers). Sanctuary, MUTS, Wheelhouse Bar, Princess Theater, casino etc the same, though smaller. No Explorers Lounge midship. I believe there was refurbishment to suit Japanese market. Being older, cabins with balconies have solid steel railings, unlike newer ships ( many complain are rusty - I don't care) none overlook balconies below like newer ships. My minisuite on Sea was very large and well designed, though balcony narrower of course. If you want the latest design & more dining choices etc, Sun class won't have it. If you want a cruise with less pax, same level of safety, food & service etc, Sun class is perfect IMO. I'm happy on any Princess & grateful I can be on a Princesss. I don't care if furnishings are old style and there's rust, as long as I smell the sea air and have a safe, relaxing voyage. Hope this helps. Neptune.

Hi...I'm going on a cruise to Alaska that spends a day scenic cruising "through" Glacier Bay National Park. I read that on days like this, there might be a scenic day pass for the Sanctuary.
- Can I buy this pass in advance? If not, where do I go to buy?
- If I have to buy this on the ship, what is the earliest I can get on the ship to purchase this pass? I was told to be there at noon. Does this mean "get in line at 11am?" or?
- Have you sat in the Sanctuary on an Alaska cruise? I'm going in early May - will I be frozen? How long will there be a "scenic view"...is it really scenic for 7 hours? Or do you take some photos at the "good" areas then rest and read while waiting for the next "good" place to come up?
- Does the Sanctuary have "in and out" privileges?
- Can I use my Soda Pass to get drinks in the Sanctuary or do I need to pay extra (I want carbonated water, diet coke and such
thanks!!!
I used the Sanctuary for Glacier Bay in June.
Each to his own; as no one has posted re using Sanctuary, thought I'd give my experience. I would use the Sanctuary again for scenic cruising; I book a balcony cabin. My experience was perfect. I like the lack of crowds and found it so relaxing as Serenity Stewards wait on you all day. I stepped outside Sanctuary for open deck.
1. You go to Sanctuary as soon as you board and purchase the pass (cost approx $80) There is a max. of approx 60 pax. booking availability. My voyage was sold out.
2. Depends on when Princess start boarding, queues, or if you have Priority boarding.
3. Yes. You have a reserved lounger for the day, from 8am to 5pm Loungers are arranged in 2 rows; all had perfect views.
I dressed in layers with scarf, gloves, beanie etc.; just as you would for open deck. Princess provide complimentary ear muffs to keep, blankets, towel pillows. I was not frozen; the Sanctuary by design provides wind breaks and shelter from rain in a lot of areas. Yes it is scenic all the time; you can move in and out to uncovered deck area beside Sanctuary or anywhere.
4. Yes. Complimentary breakfast, cocktail, soup, morning/afternoon tea, hot lunch, pastries, cookies, fruit, fruit juices, tea, coffee, hot chocolate all day. The Serenity Stewards provide personal service.Complimentary photo in front of Glacier.
5. Stewards will serve your beverages.
Wherever you choose to be, you are in for spectacular scenery. Bon Voyage.

I always bring my own shampoo, conditioner and soap. Wash my socks with the gel!
Desalinated water is tough on hair ; I always bring a small size hair salon top quality leave in conditioner product to use as required, it tames my hair and gives shine, body etc. I find this really helps.

Do we need to think about costumes?
I'm totally ok with it just being another day.... but we also don't want to miss out on the fun! ;p
Was on a Princess at this time couple of years ago; theme display in Atrium, quite a lot of pax "dressed up" and had obviously brought along a costume/accessories for the evening, can't recall if there was a special party or balloon drop as I don't celebrate this, but lots of decorations put up the night before in many venues all over the ship. You can't miss them! Bon Voyage!

Thanks! Who do you book the Sanctuary with?
At The Sanctuary itself, located on Sports Deck 17, forward. Deck map shows you, take lift to Lotus Spa area on Sun Deck 16 exit via Lotus Spa Pool, walk upstairs, or access from any part of Sun Deck 16, walk forward and up.
Don't know if you can phone, but I'd go in person as phones are often busy on boarding!
As soon as you board Ruby, go to The Sanctuary and book, there will be crew members there to take your booking. It will sell out fast.
Hope this helps you plan your magical day in a beautiful part of our world.
Hope you have as beautiful and peaceful and uplifting day as we did. Bon Voyage!

Where did you view Glacier Bay from? We have inside and wondering if there is a bow we can get out to or if there is somewhere else you recommend. How was the naturalist on board? TIA.
We were on Ruby in June
Michael, the naturalist from Alaska, is outstanding. He does commentaries from the start of the cruise and throughout the cruise when the US Rangers aren't onboard on Glacier Bay Day. He also does presentations in Princess Theater; advertised in Princess Patters. Highly recommend attending; he's such a knowledgeable man, passionate about his role and supports WWF, as do we. Has a book for sale and pamphlets at entrance to theater. Advises the key dates, times, etc for the voyage on a handout.
In addition to the other posters suggestions for Glacier Bay day, there is a package for sale at The Sanctuary. We did this and found it was perfect in every way. We stayed there all day. Costs $60. 8am - 5pm, includes reserved lounger, mini buffet breakfast foods, soup, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, juices, fruit, mimosa or blood mary, choice of 2 main course for lunch, afternoon tea, complimentary photo at the glacier, ear muff, blanket. Max 60 people there. The Serenity Stewards wait on you all the time.So glad we did this, worth every dollar in our opinion, for the serenity, vistas, pampering, protection from wind/rain. It will sell out - if interested, book as soon as you board Ruby.
Wish you beautiful voyage, Rose&Mario

Please, DON'T do any Shore Excursion involving riding elephants - it is cruel. We agree with the people who have genuine concern for the welfare of animals. For verification, the animal protection society of the country the excursion is offered in will provide the "truth". It is heartbreaking. We have the power to change this. All animals have feelings...............

If you haven't already done so, you can complete the form "Dietary Requests" at Princess.com .
Go to My Account, Upcoming cruises, Manage booking, Guest check in, Accessibility & Dietary Requests - there's a form to complete & you'll receive email acknowledgement.
When you arrive in your cabin, there's a card from Maitre d' for you to take to dining room 1st night to present to the Head Waiter in your section. You can be shown the following day's menus for lunch & dinner & order ahead; items can be modified etc. Sweet potatoes are available instead of regular. For Horizons Court you can also arrange alternatives etc with Head Waiter.
There is unsalted butter and sugar free jams available on request in dining rooms & buffet. Head Waiters will organise for dining room & buffet.
As mentioned, request no salt or less salt, no dressings etc for your menu choices the night before.
