  1. Hi folks

I received an email this morning from Royal Caribbean - at least I think it was from them. The heading was Royal 'Caribbean International Express Notification Alerts', At the top it had a link to click on to acknowledge receipt of the message, which I'm now a bit suspect about. This was the content of the email:-

*Hello, this is Royal Caribbean International, we are writing to provide you with important information regarding your upcoming sailing onboard Ovation of the Seas.

Due to a recent enhancement to our Online Check-in, we invite you to visit us at http://www.royalcaribbean.com/onlinecheckin today to complete the new sections that will expedite your boarding process.

IMPORTANT: For those that already completed Online Check-in, please complete the new sections and REPRINT your new SetSail Pass.

To ensure a smooth and expedited check-in and boarding process, please arrive at the pier within your selected appointment time frame with your printed Set Sail Pass.

Once at the pier you will:

    1. Drop off your luggage with one of the porters outside of the terminal

    2. Upon entering the terminal you will be directed to one of our check-in agents

    3. Present the completed SetSail Pass for each of the guests in your party

    4. Proceed to board Ovation of the Seas (if boarding is already underway)

Thank you for your attention to this matter and we look forward to welcoming you onboard the Ovation of the Seas*

It had the Royal Caribbean logo at the bottom, but for some reason I'm a bit wary. My online check-is all completed and I can't see any other requests when I log in.

Has anyone else ever had an email like this? Should I perhaps give them a phone to check all's ok. I've also put this in my roll call.

    Many thanks in advance.

  2. Have now booked a Premium Drinks Package at the discounted rate of £32.38 per day for the whole of the 16 day cruise. Didn't want to wait much longer in case the discount offer was withdrawn. Considering the prices charged for individual drinks I won't have to drink too much in a day 5 or 6 drinks p/day to break even. Being a tight Scot I might even drink a few more per day just to make sure I get my monies worth. Thanks for the previous comments which helped me make my decision

Hey there, I too booked a drinks package last week for my DH at the discounted rate. It really was a bit of a no brainer at that price, even though, like yourself, he's not a huge drinker. The break even point is that bit less.

I also booked the Royal Replenish package for myself - which gives me unlimited fancy coffees, virgin cocktails including frozen ones, and unlimited soft drinks including those from the fancy coke machines. At just over £15 per day this to was a bargain. Have you thought about this for your wife?

    Hopefully see you onboard :)

  3. I am in the same boat as you.. I was wondering if I should be concerned as well. I am going to see if I can get them to send me a confirmation as well because I have a feeling I will be having to defend this price once I am on the ship. I will definitely be calling this morning to see if I can get it in email form.. hope it all works out for you.

Hi, I've just given them a phone and been told that I should receive my confirmation email within the next 20 mins, so am assuming all's well there. What I did notice though is that here in the UK, the prices have gone down slightly since last night - but are still inclusive of all gratuities. :)

  4. When I booked last night, it asked for my CC details, billing address with phone number etc, then further below that again I had to fill out some more boxes repeating some of that information again to get an email. The email arrived pretty promptly with the subject line "Cruise Planner Summary".

Check your spam folder? It's from a DoNotReply address, so possibly went to spam.

I booked about 9.30pm UK time and went through the same scenario as above - could have sworn it flashed up I'd get an email, hence my concern. There's nothing in my spam folder but my purchases (discounted Select & full price Royal Replenish Packages) are shown as bought on my Cruise Planner. Hmmm, might give them a shout.

  5. I was up with the lark this morning just to double check the purchase of DH's Select Package still included the 20% discount and didn't include gratuities.

The answer is yes on both counts - £424.17 is the total price with £0.00 being added for gratuities. :)

I have printed confirmation of it - the only slight cloud on the horizon being I've not received a confirmation email as yet? Do you think this is enough confirmation (once I've checked to see whether the money has come out our bank account) or should I get in touch with Royal Caribbean just to make sure all's ok, although it looks that way to me. Phew!

  6. Where is the fine print that says tips are included? I'd like to print that as well. Though my receipt should be enough?

During the booking process, just after you add which person you're booking the drinks package for (I think) a little blue circle with an i on it appears beside the total - if you click on that & scroll down a bit it clearly stated gratuities are included.in price shown.

  7. Im a dreadful traveler not just by sea ,so I always take sturgeron so far it's never failed me and we have been in some pretty rough seas. I think the secret and I can only speak for myself is to start taking them BEFORE you leave ,

I usually start the day before I travel then for the first couple of days at sea. I then just start to take them again the day before our return journey usually when we're crossing the bay of biscay , can't take any chances ..lol.

I'm sure you'll be fine try not to think too much about it and try to be up on deck as much as you can the fresh air helps a lot.

My husband suffers terribly from all kinds of motion sickness too and for the last couple of years he's used Sturgeron15 and had no issues. Definitely the secret is taking them before you leave. :)

  8. I would just call them yourself on the number i put on Libbys post, you get through quite quick after press 1, press 2 etc. After all its your money thats paying for the holiday, not the TA. I always strike up a coversation, say your confused with what your TA is saying, as i said, persistence pays, good luck :)

The twice I phoned I got through really quickly, and the people that I spoke to were as helpful as they possibly could have been - ultimately saying I needed to go back to my TA, but at the same time saying it was all possible theoretically speaking. The problem with my TA was that although they phoned RCCL, they were charging me a ridiculous amount of money to change - nearly as much as what I paid!! Definitely persevere as Debs says. Good luck! :)

  9. That really worked out well then. We are playing the waiting game at the moment and I am good with that.

Yes, we moved from an interior to a balcony to get the lower price and I am good with that, too. We had previously been assigned a large interior cabin on deck 11 forward and I was delighted with that assignment, but ultimately we are really easygoing and will be happy with whatever they assign us.

    Corinna

Hmmmm, I think we may have been allocated your old cabin :D

  10. Don't give up, persistence pays :)

    Did you email bookingsupport@rccl.com, I have this number 0844 493 4005 ?

I have always found it is better to make contact yourself, you have more of a vested interest so to speak, especially now you have booked with the TA. I booked direct but I would still have another go. Email again and put looking forward to your response at the end , Keep going :)

Hi Deb, well I took your advise and persevered. I think my TA was dragging their heels right to the bitter end while quoting ridiculous figures to change cabin. After a phone call today from a lovely chap at RCCL we've been moved to a larger inside cabin on deck 11.

Thanks so much once again. :)

I've literally just had an email from my TA saying it would cost £1000 EACH to upgrade to a D6 balcony! That wasn't what I asked! And breathe!

I'm sure that's the address I emailed, and definitely the number I phoned, but I'll go send another! Thank you so much for your encouragement, I'll keep going:)

  12. Fingers crossed. I cant see why they wouldn't as you don't get the free drinks, 50 % (by the way ) offer in Guarantee cabins anyhow, so they cant say its a special offer. Hope it works for you :)

Thanks for that debgreg - unfortunately I'm not getting anywhere. I emailed Royal Carribean on Monday but not heard anything. I also emailed my TA again and not heard anything - they probably have me down as a nuiscance :)

When I phoned Royal Caribbean again yesterday the lovely lady said I should get my TA to phone but I don't think they will. Note to self - use a different TA next time.

Thanks for all your assistance and info folks, and to those of you who were able to move cabins etc - well done!;)

  13. Why don't you email them direct , I did and they were very helpful (use the form on the home page) . They gave me a list of available cabins (although I didn't want to move categories) but I would say that the balcony Guarantee is now the same price as the inside so you would like to change, as far as I can see that's nothing to do with the special offer. Worth a try.

Thanks for that, I've just emailed so will wait & see what they say. If we end up in our original cabin it's absolutely not the end of the world. Thanks again.:)

  14. I am glad that you got this sorted.

How very strange. I am on the same cruise and had no issues getting the lower price as long as I changed categories. I have however noticed that the promotion code on the original invoice and the new invoice is the same. Maybe it has something to do with this.

It is very strange. The guy I spoke to at RCCL was very nice & helpful, well as much as he could have been So I think it's my TA that's being awkward!

He's just got back to me saying they'd charge me to move to a larger inside and do I want a quote! You couldn't write a book about it!!

  15. LOL - I got put back into the Guarantee bucket and I've just been assigned the same cabin back again! I guess it is my lucky day.

From what DolphinGirl says she moved categories to get the balcony whereas you are already in a balcony and wanting the lower price. However this does not tally with what you were told, that the prices were for *New* bookings only - as DG is not a new booking but an existing booking which has been amended. I'd personally get onto your agent again to see if they get a different answer if they call again.

Haha that would probably happen to me! No we're in an inside guarantee with virtual balcony, deck 10 so quite handy, but trying to change category to a guarantee balcony - without much success so far! I've emailed my TA once again (probably should have sat on my hands for 5mins first though:)) to say how disappointed I was, and if they wouldn't upgrade me to a balcony guarantee would they consider a larger inside cabin - I have slight mobility issues and will literally have to crawl onto the bed to get past - so will see what they come back with.

  16. What sail date are you on as both myself and DolphinGirl have definitely got the drop in the past 24 hrs. Perhaps different price points for your cruise or they are just being awkward!!!

Hi, we're on the 10th May sailing from Barcelona to Dubai. I phoned RCCL & they told me that theoretically I could change categories - but only if it's due to the cruise price going down and not due to a promotion, which this is. Although not able to say to much the person I spoke to did say that our cabin was in a good location etc - so would probably hate to give it up and end up with a rubbish guarantee balcony. I would, however, like to try to get a larger inside if possible. Will get back to my TA and see what they say about that.
