  1. What was the deciding factor to the reversal? Was it the threat and or cancellation of cruises and possibility of future cruises or the amount of voices against what NCL was introducing. This can help in the future if we the consumer do not like new policies that affect us the consumer. Happy sailing to all....

  2. Good news! I have read on another site the policy has been reversed, a statement as been released and now food can be taken out.

Those who cancelled their CRUISE----they should have waited---maybe NCL does respect those guests who sail with NCL.....HAPPY SAILING to those who stayed with NCL and to the rest...........!!!!!!!!

  3. I can not BELIEVE that there are already so many comments. We are discussing this on CC but no one on NCL will read our comments. I would suggest writing directly but to WHOM does one write to. We have been on more than 12 cruises with NCL. My wife writes to NCL every cruise BUT most are never responded to; we do not even know if letter was received. My wife asked our CONCIERGE for an the email of the CEO or equivalent. My wife received the run around. The Hotel Director wanted the message from my wife, probably if there were any negative comments about the ship, the Hotel Director would not forward the letter. I believe NCL is running their ships as they see and you the customer must obey there rules; did any read the contracts between Cruise line and customer.

The ONLY CONTROL we have is with our money, which cruise line we choose. If NCL's new rules affect you---choose another cruise line........HAPPY SAILING on which ever CRUISE LINE you choose..

  4. Everyone is excited about NOTHING. I have been on more than 12 NCL cruises. Some guests pass thru the buffet without sanitizing their hands. Staff at entrance DID not stop guest from entering. Guests went to MAIN MDR with shorts, more than half ate supper in shorts; were NOT turned away. The staff on the ship do not WANT TO CONFRONT guests. Unless they follow a guest to their stateroom, too many guests on a ship, there are not enough staff to follow all the guests. BRING back your dirty dishes and no one will know better. The new CEO has his ideas, they both come or go. He has to show the shareholders that he is a better CEO then the last one; and different. IF he does not give confidence to the shareholders, and paying guests, HE WILL BE replaced....... happy sailing on whatever cruise line you choose....

  5. I enjoy reading all the different comments. There is one expressing their opinion to stop this thread- repeating comments. There are over 700 comments, maybe NCL will get the point. There are two issues, how many guests actually will use stateroom service ??? I have been on over 12 cruises with NCL, on the first day of cruise I am at GUEST SERVICES for information. Only on several cruises there was a sign stating NO UPGRADES which means the SHIP is FULL. That is supply versus demand. So NCL knows it has the upper hand in making new policies, if some guests cancel their cruise , there will be others who will book those vacancies. The new CEO has a vision not like the past CEO. We all have choices as guests, choose NCL or not. Guests are not happy paying for new service charge of $ 7.95 BUT will pay an EXTRA $1000 or more to switch to RCCL or PRINCESS. Go to YOUTUBE.com and there are VIDEOS explaining how to sneak drinks, booze onto the ship. I am sure there will be videos on sneaking food to ones cabin. Women have large purses to carrying food; be discreet. Just return plates to buffet or tip extra your stateroom attendant. I am with the guest who wrote that he gets a chuckle reading the comments. If you have questions, CALL DIRECTLY NCL for information. If thousands hound NCL over this issue MAYBE they might reconsider their decision; I would NOT hold my breath. HAPPY SAILING on which ever CRUISE LINE you sail....

  6. The great thing is we live in a democracy. We all can make choices. Unfortunately the few have ruined it for the majority. The slobs who leave plates outside staterooms and other places on the ship have partial lead to a new policy. The MAJOR PROBLEM is everyone is on vacation and everyone has paid for this vacation. So everyone believes THEY are ENTITLED to do what they want to do; no respect to other guests. There are several options---go to another cruise line BUT if NCL is successful !!! The other cruise lines will follow with their own Policy. I am sure NCL knows how many guests will be affected by this new policy. There is a possibility that ONLY a few guests will be affected; 300-400 guests out of 3000 guests--10 percent or less. Guests can do what we do, more EXPENSIVE, book a suite or Haven; we are allowed breakfast to be delivered and snacks in the afternoon by our BUTLER. There are many options, read the contract between the CRUISE LINE and GUEST. The cruise line wants to have an appealing ship not with dirty plates in hallways and guests carrying food all over the ship. I read many complaints and one of many was correct, NCL could just pass along in its pricing another 10 percent to cover these costs but NCL knows MOST OF THEIR GUESTS would not be HAPPY PAYING for those GUESTS ( a minority ) who are the REASON for this NEW POLICY. Guests consider the new FEE high--- NCL could charge $4 BUT want to discourage those leaving dirty plates all over the ship. I believe even at $4, guests would leave plates and garbage all over the ship BUT $ 7.95 is a better fee to discourage most. Even though I am on vacation, I can get up and go to each dining location and not worry about dirty dishes. Those with mobility problems or children who have problems eating at MDR's should get permission to be exempt; each case should be reviewed by NCL. If not, then select another cruise line. If our future cruises are filled with only cruises who will follow the rules, great for us. If those guests are unhappy with the new NCL POLICY, be happy on another cruise line. Guests pay a lot of money to be on vacation----SO BE HAPPY WHERE EVER YOU ARE SAILING...

  7. Just saw this on another site

"I am on the Gem right now. I asked at guest services about this and they told me the room service charge will go into effect next cruise (May 2) and it is true that restaurants will no longer let you take leftovers back to your cabin or have them sent there."

    Geri

NCL worries about this but WHAT about those GUESTS who do not SANTIZE THEIR HANDS before eating at the BUFFETS. Sometimes certain guests pass thru and do not clean their hands. Even those on NCL at the doorways allow these guests to pass. A ship with over 3000 guests...how are NCL going to handle this problem of watching that EACH guest does not sneak food out...LOL
  8. WE will be sailing on RCCL's NAVIGATOR of the SEAS for the first time. We have sailed EXPLORER of the Seas and VOYAGER of The Seas in the same class. By far the biggest is OASIS of the SEAS--Jan 2011. It has been two years since MAJESTY of the SEAS and we are looking forward to RCCL again. Sometime after, hope to sail on ANTHEM of the SEAS out of New Jersey.
