I am honestly much more concerned for my parents than for myself. My parents are the perfect example of the hapless cruisers who can/will be affected by the lack of communication and information. Were it not for me being here on Cruise Critic, they would have NO CLUE anything hinky was going on with this sailing. They would have received the most recent email (at 21 days) that is just the boilerplate, fleet-wide email that goes out telling you to finish the health and safety portion of your online check-in. They would have selected a boarding time and watched the muster video (the only new sections of the check-in) and assumed they were good to go. Check-in says 100%. Cruise docs are downloadable/printable. All set!

We haven't even received any communication about NCL's new recommendation/requirement to get a test within 72 hours of sailing in order to be eligible for any assistance with quarantine/travel if testing positive at the pier. Again, I only know about that because someone on CC had pointed out that info suddenly appeared under one of the FAQs on the Sail Safe page. It's not like they sent out an email announcing that change. Unless you were opening each question under the FAQ regularly and scouring for changes, you would never know.

My parents live in a rural area in PA. Through much research, we have only found three options for them to get a PCR test. CVS says results usually available in 1-2 days, but my dad spoke with an employee there and they said it's more like 3-4 days. The local urgent care does PCR tests with results in 2-3 days. There is a private lab that promises PCR results within 24 hours, but they cost $200 per test. So for both of my parents, that's $400 suddenly added to the cost of their trip. And remember, had I not been paying attention, my parents would still be blissfully ignorant of any impending PCR tests. So if/when they finally got info from NCL about the requirement, they would have significantly less time to do this research or schedule appointments and no option to cancel the cruise (assuming we don't hear from NCL before Saturday).

  2. Did both on our Honeymoon and liked both, but Capri is one of a kind!  Loved it and please do the Blue Grotto, buy a pair of handmade (right there in the shop) Espadrilles, sip Limoncello and enjoy!!

We are still on for 9/23 getaway. Damn the spike proteins, full speed ahead!

So are we...this is not what I signed up for. (Freestyle Cruising..no masks on board..no social distancing). Current situation not NCL's fault, but that doesn't make it any stressful or frustrating.

  4. Inevitab ly, Yes, I think some HAL'ers will move alo g some likely would anyway . Every b usiness expects attrition. Some 'customers go, some come go t he bujsinss. i think HALers may start to leave in 'numbers. '' Some are un willing to live with what HAL is morphing into. I Think the product and 'message has changedt oo much. In some cases, it is the 'people that keep some HAL'ers coming back. That can only continue just so lon.g. IMO HAL has made some very bad mistakes and it might cost them .

The thing is I am not sure they recognize their mis-steps.

    My thoughts, also.

  5. I guess I had never really thought about the TP as we use Toto washlets at home.

We've only started cruising but the upsell to the Pinnacle Suite on the Alaska trip for almost nothing and now a Neptune Suite offer too good to pass up for 25 days to the Amazon.....I don't have much room to complain.

So far everything has been great.

  6. Just returned from our 2nd wonderful cruise on the Prinsedam. Was somewhat reluctant to book another one so soon due to the fact that our 1st one was perfect...but so glad we did! The 2nd one was even better! I wrote a review last Sunday, but it hasn't been posted yet.

  7. Thanks for informing others not to tell you what to do while at the same time telling others what they should do. You should get exactly what you want while others should not and you have certainly forewarned them not to disagree with you.

The arrogance and self-importance is abundantly clear.

And, if I may add, a true sense of entitlement.

  8. Jacqui, I'm glad you found your camera! But it most be so frustrating to not be able to confront the thieves (with security present of course). Hopefully, you can at least retrieve your memory card. My DH is curious...are they an older couple or a younger couple? I could use this opportunity for some "funny lines", but somehow I doubt if you are finding this camera theft funny...and I don't blame you one bit!!

  9. Jacqui, thank you for posting such amazing pictures! I have to hand it to you that you went all the way up that mountain! My one phobia is narrow roads on the side of mountains...can't do it:( Did it in Zermat (during road construction, with no guard rails), and said NEVER again:( Now give me a shark (well fed one) to swim with and that's another story! So one more reason for you to be nominated for the Cruise Critic Member of the year award:))

  10. Of course I will keep you all informed. CaptainTim has assured us they are in good hands

Yes, my sunglasses went missing too, at first I thought I had left them in the wifi spot, but I was told I was not wearing the there.

Thinking back, I realized I took them off so they would recognize me when I checked in, had a bunch of bags and put them down with them. Never picked them up and have never been seen since. That's ok, although DH was upset. He left his last time on this ship and they were there in literally hours at the lost ad found. Not lucky this cruise I guess

Thank you for the kind words. I wish I were more talented.

Don't worry about the packing. It will get done. The ship is in good shape:D. Well try to leave it that way

Sorry about your sunglasses, but more sorry about your lost pictures:( I had my camera and all pictures from an extensive trip to Spain, years ago, stolen (it was our last ay there). All pics gone:( Not saying that is your case...still hoping your camera will show up:)

Jacqui,if you were any more talented you would HAVE to write for a travel magazine!

As for the packing...from your lips to God's ears.

    Hugs, Sharron

  11. Jacqui, I am loving your blog although must admit I am WAYYY behind:(

Haven't even begun to pack and I am usually pretty much finished by now:(

So, OK, sunglasses?? I noticed you bought a new pair (from your blog).Did your previous pair "go missing" on the ship too?

PS...love your form of "natural" writing. Makes me feel like I am not only there ,but many times what your are feeling, too:))

  12. Jacqui, I am loving reading your reviews/posts...thank you so much for sharing.

On a side note...I had the same noise issues in the dining room on our last 2 cruises (not so much on the previous cruises,as I recall). I love to meet new people, but it is very frustrating to not be able to hear everything that is being said and for that reason I now prefer a 4 top (DH prefers a 6 top:/ ) I know, in the big scheme of things...it's a pretty silly thing to complain about.
