  1. If this has been answered, please point me to the post or web page.  2 days 16 hours 33 minutes.  4 traveling, my wife and i with her son and gf (over 21) on Discovery Princess, 2 bedroom suite, with my  CC being the only csrd on record.  Happy to pay for certain things, drinks, spa, tips, speciality dining as examples.   I justt saw the Princess page on gambling where it looks like Bingo, Slots and possibly other games of "chance' can be played from almost anywhere on board using a smart phone.  What if any controls in some areas are available that could apply to some but not others?   On the bright side, if they win, goes back to my account - 🙃. many thanks.

  2. We sale on Dec 23 - in a Sky Suite on Discovery.  Does anyone recall the type of pods  the Nespresso machine in these 2 suites - Origional pods or the new larger style Verturo?   Medallion's - is there a color dedicated to the Sky Suites.  Finally (For Today), I understand from reading variuous posts - outside the doors to the cabin, the screen has the names of the occupants?  It it possible not to have this visabloe.or 1st names only?   Thank you.....  David

I am responsible for proper preperations, domestic and international.

Visas, medications, flights, back ups, travel documents.....

    I know where I'm going

I know the rules that a country/city/region and business may have.

I know anything can change, at any time, for a million reasons.

I know how to find translations

I recognize the person I'm speaking with may not have current information, have.  little practical knowledge.

At the end of the day, I have to take care of myself and be prepared.

2 weeks from now I'm getting on a HAL ship, first cruise in over 2 yearsm planning to do all the things I enjoy, leaving the ship healthy.  If not, I'll be prepared.  (i Hope).

    Safe Healthy Travels everyone -

I was stuck overseas on 9/11.

I've been stuck in a remote part of the globe on what should have been a few days turned into 10.

I've had a flight canceled for 12 days straight and the goat they sacrificed on the runway failed solve the issue.

I had a 14 day honeymoon booked on one boat - split into two different boats - having to share a cabin with 2 crew.

Disney is about 4X more expensive for this particular window. Can't do that one lol.

We took 3 of our grand children (no parents) on a 7 day Disney cruise - family suite  - club access - and thought for those 7 days we would never see them except meals.  They only wanted to be with us! Always, everything,  The stops did little other then the private island - basically the ship could have left port - gone 20 miles out to sea, did big circles -and they would have been just as happy.  If you have had a sip of the Disney coolaid - it's fantastic they know exactly who their customer is.  We enjoy our disney experiences - at the California Parks - this is a cruise brand you have to 'get' and know what to expect imo.  and yes.... expensive,  We are next on the 5 day HAL Zuiderdam - can't wait for the schedule - relax, relax, bingo maybe followed by relax, sun goes down - ....   No go cart track.

  5. On Monday this week - we deided to take the Vancouver to San Diego 5 night cruise leaving Sept 28.  Went through the booking process until putting in my information.  We have moved in the past 8 months,  address incorrect, phone number no longer existed, while passport info wasn't asked at that time, that too has been reissued.  I clicked on the 24 hr hold however I doubted it would actually be held without complet info for the 2 of us.  The next day I recieved an e mail to finsih the booking - and as I have done the past - turned it over to my TA.  What came back was only a guarentee of the catagory - not the room I had seleted.  i'm pidky the cabins I select.  Never near elevators that ping, or high traffic steward areas, where exhust smells are reported - I'm picky. That and sorting through the various decks and 3 cabin desginatons that Neptune Suites have - not quite sure what to do.  It's not even an issue of the lowest price - just being ok with the location.  We've sailed on this ship several times,  looking aforward to some sea days after a long few years.....  Thanks for any thoughts.  ~~D

A comment on our recent Alaska cruise on the Eurodam in a Pinnacle Suite. The level of service provided when both breakfast and dinner were delivered was no different than that of an inside cabin. Very disappointed! We did talk to the Neptune Lounge concierge about the inconsistent service, compared to the same ship, same suite just five months earlier. At this price point (not discounted or a free upgrade), we expected far more. There was no follow-up by any staff. We were even more upset when we returned home to read this thread of the wonderful course by course service, white table cloth and beautiful place settings using the fine china, Waterford crystal, etc. stored in the Suite. We got nothing! Well, we did get two bread plates, but not even bread or butter. As a result, we have canceled our upcoming Dec. 7 Mexico cruise in the Pinnacle Suite on the Oosterdam. There is no excuse for such a lack of consistent service. We are not going to chance it again! We sincerely hope this is not a sign of the future of HAL service.

I'm smiling - not at the poor experience you had - but our upcoming Mexico 7 day cruise Dec 7 in YOUR Pinnacle suite.  We have been on several HAL ships - Oosterdam most often.  I will be happy to report what the experience was.  We do enjoy in room dining - especially on formal nights in our bathrobes 🙂 .   I have experienced similar issues - usually when ships are doing 7 day or less cruises - where there can be a lot of crew changes - or even reductions in staff for the shorter trips.  It's only a theory - and not an excuse.  Thanks for the heads up.

  7. Hi Kevin:

It is a splurge.  Both AA and UA have excellent 1st class lounges - Flagship First for AA and Polaris. On AA Domestic flights the use of these lounges depends on class of service on a 3 class plane (premium Econ is not a counted class).  The lounges are excellent.  If you already use Clear with Pre, and flying on a 3 class plane, check it out.  Keep in mind that to make full use out of Private Suites, you will want to spend more time at LAX.  Enjoy if you go!

  8. Since the HALcats diappeared a couple months ago, and the OP was looking for Alley Cats on a HAL ship a couple weeks ago ... it is obvious the OP was talking about a specific group.

OP also referred to the group's website - I don't recall the various HAL Cats having a site.

A careful reading of the OP was all that was needed. Like that happens on a forum, right?

    LOL - thank you......

They were indeed on the Oosterdam in May. Alley Cats

I won't turn this into a review of their show - only to say - for many on board - fun and retro-refreshing.

I am trying to reach Mando - and was simply trying to find out IF they are currently (today) on a HAL ship - and send him a fax.

  9. I don't know when the notification went to her - she called on a Monday Morning - and I immediately said yes - by the time she called HAL - the room (s) were gone..... I love my TA - however not happy about this......

    Correction - up sell Thx.

  10. Departing on the Oosterdam on May 4. (yeah!). Embarkation starts at 1pm. Departure from port is 11PM. What time will the drill be?

I'm not sure what time we plan to board - It could be quite a bit later then 1pm nor do I know if I would even be awake for the sail away. (time changes and all).

    Any thoughts? Guidance. Many thanks!

  11. we are traveling with 7, 5 and 4 year olds. Two nights before the cruise. We took the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge. Arriving late afternoon - we really have only one day before sailing. We will not leave the lodge - There is much to see and do - and most important for us - not have the children burn out with a long day in a park. We have the advantage of coming from So.Cal - many of the parks - have some sort of presence here - it's not lost opportunity not going. There is also the costs - frankly rather spend it during the 7 days. Another confession - we (the 2 adults) don't want to burn out early either. Sometimes less is more.
