  1. We experienced a folklore dance in Russia last year, and would like to experience a flamenco dance. We will be staying in Barcelona for a few nights precruise. Hotel area near Las Ramblas. Looking to find somewhere we could enjoy a Flamenco Dance one of the two evenings we will be staying (Sunday or Monday night). Any suggestions???? TIA!!

  2. You have accidentally posted on the Italian Ports. Hopefully you will get some responses if you repost on the Spanish ports.

THANKS!!! I just realized it this morning. I guess I don't know where I am or where I am going right now LOL!!! Will copy over to Spain. Too many port plannings going on at the same time. THANK YOU !!!

  4. Second that ... Wi-fi extremely slow onboard and the terminals have so many people trying to connect you are disconnected a lot.

  5. You will not regret ur decision with NCL POA ... Very port intensive. We spent every minute on the islands and came back exhausted to sleep and get ready for morning. Be sure to read and subscribe to the Hawaii boards. A lot of great and useful info on DIY days. Links for car rentals with discount codes.

  6. What is the minimum amount of time one should allow for Suomenlinna Fortress. I know to allow 30 minutes for ferry to and fro.

Our plan is to arrive in West Harbor Hernesaaken pier. Get into town to take the tram2 and tram3 route and enjoy Rock Church, Sibellius Monument, Olympic Stadium and walk around Market Square area with the old churches, etc. Do we have enough time to head over to Suomenlinna???

Figure on the ground from 730a-330p.

What does everyone think? Too much in too little time?

    Thank you!!!

  7. Like PatriciaF says HoHo boats only runs in clockwise directions.

Do Vasa the first thing in the morning followed by changing of the guard and Gamla Stan.

From Vasa to Gamla Stan/Royal Palace you have several options.

HoHo boats - this is probably the slowest option. around 20-25 min.

Djurgården harbour ferry this will take about 10-15 min.+ 10 walking time.

bus #76 this will take about 10 min.

Also changing of the guards takes place at 12.15 on Mon-Sat and 13.16 on Sundays/red days.

    http://www.forsvarsmakten.se/Global/Myndighetswebbplatsen/2-Var-verksamhet/hogvakten/vaktparad-med-musik-mars-december.pdf

However there should be plenty of time for what you want to see, you could spend 2,5 hours at Vasa and still have a good margin to get to the Royal Palace in time for the changing iof the guards.

OKAY .. I had this all planned out arriving in Frihamnen 634 (per NCL this is where we are docking) BUT accordingly to the port schedule we are docking at Stadsgarden S167. I don't think NCL knows where their ship is docking LOL!! From what I am reading, find the bus stop and getting to the Ferry dock is harder than the farther pier Frihmnen.

Can someone please provide directions for me??

We want to get to the Ferry to go to Vasa first off boat at 8am.

Then walk/or use pub trans (thinking bus #76) to changing of royal guard and then walk through Gamla Stan. From there .. do we still take #76 back to Stadsgarden or bus#1 (read someone but disregarded as I thought the pier was Frihamnen).

Thank you .. I tried scanning through the thread but there is so much information here LOL!!

  8. you earlier wrote this?

This is what the email reads:

Dear Debbie, The boats also starts early and takes you directly to the Vasa before they go on the regular route.

    and also this ..

    Dear Debbie,

We always meet the cruise ship and start operations as soon as the passengers disembark.

We currently have a cruise offer where you get the 4th tour for free and 20 % off the first 3 destinations.

    Use the discount code

    GoRed10

when checking our from the web shop.

To collect your 4th tour for free ticket you simply collect the tickets from your first 3 destinations and present them up on arrival on the 4 th destination where they will exchange them for a new ticket for free.

  9. Its Oceankaj.

If you stay at Bethel then you can take Bus 26 towards UNICEF Færgehavn Nord, it will get you directly to the pier.

DV this is what I thought...but when I called to get pier info NCL told me Orient...something. I dont think NCL knows which piers their cruiseships dock

  10. Mileage Plus card from Chase/VISA does not have a foreign transaction fee, but it does have a yearly fee which is offset by two club passes if you are at least a silver member.

We called our united mileage card and yes we have to pay foreign tran fee .... So i am confused by ur post

  11. The movia Shuttle is for all regular tickets, so IF you are havde ading for downtown its a 2 zone ticket costing 24 kroner.

If you however are going to the airport its a 3 zone ticket costing 36 kroner.

Silly question .. we need the 3 zone ticket and we won't have the Copenhagen card AFTER the cruise ... 1) can we buy a tix at the pier .. or 2) can we buy it ahead of time and hold it for that morning of debarkation?? Thinkg we buy one at the train station the day we leave and hold onto it until the day of debarkation. Does this work? or are tixs time stamped/dated?

  12. The lorries will still be there because the cruise terminal is located on reclaimed land from among others the new metro lines and they are still expanding this new port area.

They are also building the metro in the weekend so I would assume that they will have lorries running in gthe weekend also.

But now there are shuttle busses running all morning to take the top of the rush and the police will guide the traffic on the most busiest day.

Danish Viking .. What are "lorries"?

  13. Desdichado62 ..

    Your opinion please ..

We arrive 8AM on a Thursday. My current plan is to get off ship, hit the HoHo Boat (per company they start as soon as cruise ships arrive - before their normal 10am start time - true?) and go directly to Vasa. Next, take HoHoboat back to see Changing of the Guard at 1315p and then walk through Gamla Stan back to ship. I am not used to public transit (and it scares me) .... Do the HoHoboats run only in a clockwise direction??? At least this is what I am reading by looking at their map. If this is the case it will take us a long time to get to Vasa and then again over to Changing of the Guard.

If this is the case, would you suggest Vasa first and then the Changing of the Guard?? What would be the best way to get to Vasa (bus #76) and then back to Changing of the Guard??? Will we have time to see Vasa and also Changing of the Guard??

Thank you for your input ... OH and we have to be back on the ship at 1530

    Debbie.

  14. I contacted Cruise Copenhagen network and they indicated bus 26 is NOT running on the weekends but the shuttle to Osterport station is running instead.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Bus number 26 runs Mon-Fri, and you can always check the schedule on http://www.rejseplanen.dk.

During the weekends, there will be shuttles going from Ocean Quay to Østerport Station. Here the passengers will be able to catch a train or a bus going further. There will be around 3 shuttles every hour, all depending on how busy it is.

I hope this answers your questions. Otherwise please feel free to contact us again.

  16. I read a lot of posts about good walking shoes .. thick soles, etc.

Any suggestions of a good walking shoe?

I was looking at a Clark Wave Trek/Wave Walk

Any suggestions from anyone on a good, thick soled shoe???

I have been told tennis shoes are "frowned upon" in European countries and also labels you as a tourist ... IDK ...

Any response/help is appreciated .. we are leaving end of June.

    Thank you.

    Debbie.

  17. Thank you Aussie Cruizer and all others on this board ..... reading through I am getting more excited and a lot of my questions were answered.

We are going on the July 3, 2014 sailing for my Big ?-0 birthday celebration. Need to make final payment next week and will ask for a room upgrade. Right now we have balcony midship 11. Would be nice to have a js, if not suite. Ships doesn't look too full at this point.

    Exciting!!!

Thank you again for all of the information posted and hope you all are either cruising right now or planning your next adventure!

    Happy Sailing!!!
