  1. OK, so now is time for a serious questions. Will be on Independence the weekend of the Masters Tournament (Please no shaming as I just forgot to look at the calendar)

Has anyone been on a ship with the big screens and do you know if they play golf on the big screen like they do with football? I highly doubt it but I am holding out hope.

    Thanks all!!

I have family in Atlanta who will not agree with you. My nephew was just diagnosed with covid as was my grand nehew.  7729 deaths so far in Georgia. Now the cases are stabilized yesterday 1459 new cases and 29 deaths.  Still very dangerous   7 day moving average on the rise    Below georgia stats

yeah man, I look at that site every day. a slight uptick , it happens. but within 1 % is pretty stable. And deaths continue to trend down. That is the most important. Many kids at both of my kids schools have tested positive. Not a single one with symptoms. We are never going to have 0 active nor 0 deaths. Sooner or later we need to get back out there....

  3. Yeah, here in the northern part of Metro Atlanta, everything is as normal as can be minus masks and distancing. Watching all of the numbers for my local counties and the state, it seems the infection rate is leveling off. It had been coming down for weeks but has been static around 6% for a while. But the good thing is the # of deaths is continuing to trend down. Hoping we can get to the next phase soon. This guys needs a cruise!!!

"Fully functional RCI website." I'm not sure those words have ever been together in a sentence before now without several "not"s in-between them!
Thank you! 🙂 (Just 39 days to go now, hurry up October!)

Yep, felt a little dirty writing it!!!

I can't wait for Sunday to head out to Sea. Will report back on the beach beds and any tips.

Website seems to be allowing reservations for our sailing, but I almost accidentally booked three beds! I gagged and fixed it when I saw the price in my cart. 😂

Too funny. I am sure that not being able to book online is in line with the always up and fully functional RCI website 😉

Have a great time on the cruise!

  6. I think I know the answer already but wanted to try. I have two rooms booked with my wife and I in one and our two children in adjoining. Each room has an OBC. I want to get the drink package prior to sailing and use the OBC from both rooms for that. First phone call was told that there is no way to move the OBC. I fgured I would come here first asking if this is possible prior to going back to someone reading from a script on the support line.

Should I continue to go after this or just use the one OBC from our room for drinks and the OBC from the second room for excursions or something.... Is it worth the phone call yoga?

Thanks for your responses... Happy Cruising!!

  7. Well, your last comment pretty much kills it. "no moochers". I have been on multiple Jamaica excursions and there is always an element of this. Just ignore them and you are usually OK. Never personally had a problem. I personally like the 'get a really good chair by the pool and listen to music with bartenders that are not busy' excursion. Also too, you can hop off real quick and get some decent local cuisine in the port and get back to your pool time!! Good luck and have fun. Experiences are always good!

  8. Agree that renting a car is a nice way to get around. We used Avis many years ago and in about 5 hours saw everything we wanted to see on the island plus a few things we did not ;). Teh driving was easy and I do not recall any more craziness than you would see in the average large city in the States.

    Have fun!!

  9. There are always the 'secret' balconies on the 11th and I think 10th deck. (AFT) During the water shows they are busy but otherwise are usually abandoned.

To go along with another poster, AFT on the running track at night is the BEST. Quiet is relative with the noise from propulsion but after about 2 mins it is white noise and you can just relax !! And yes I have fallen asleep in those chairs a few times.

Hot tubs, for both Oasis and Allure it was hit or miss. But there are enough there that you can find room and not be too cramped.

    Happy Sailing!!

  10. The other reality here is that even though Cruise Critic has a healthy membership, it is nothing compared to the thousands and thousands of people that walk onboard ships throughout a year. Heck, My last Allure cruise had somewhere around 40 people on the meet/mingle. That may not account for all of the CC members on the ship but compared to the number of people on Allure, we are a VERY small minority.

Sure, I bet they see our comments but in the end if the ships are sailing full and the same average number of people are buying drinks, our opinion really does not weigh all that much.

    Great thoughtful topic though!!

  11. I would personally try the Oasis class. We have been on this style ship twice and never felt that is was overwhelming. Planning required ahead of time, yes. But definitely doable. All you need to do is read a few reviews and then make sure you sign up for the shows you want to see and you are golden. Plus having the multiple flow riders and rock walls really help out with crowd control. Either way, with Oasis or Freedom, you guys will have a blast !!

  12. I checked the price of our first cruise on Carnival's Festivale (1986/87 New Year's). We actually paid MORE for that cruise than our 2014 New Year's Cruise on the Carnival Liberty. In addition, our Festivale room was an interior room, while our room on the Liberty was an aft-wrap balcony. Today's ships have so much more than the older ships. While there probably is a decline in certain aspects of a cruise, it's important to remember that today's ships also offer so much more than the older ships. Think of it..... stabilizers, larger rooms, balconies, more pools, hot tubs, TV's and fridges in most every room, huge atriums, and probably a lot of things we can't see (environmental quality measures, safety equipment, etc.). And from what I read, you RCL fans have even more new and fun things to do and see on your new ships. I loved my first cruise on the Festivale. I loved my cruise on the Liberty, and all the other Carnival and Disney ships I've been on. They've changed over time, but I think the cruise industry has done a pretty good job of giving us more for less. That is one of the reasons so many people cruise today. Hopefully, we can all look at the big picture when looking at the cutbacks.

Thanks for the great positive message! I agree, things have changed a bit but hey, you are on a cruise, have fun for Pete's sake :)

  13. Thank you guys for responding to my question. After some thought, we have decided to move to the Adventure out of San Juan. My kids will be 9 and 11 by then and I think it is time to go after some real experiences that they will remember for a long time. Plus my wife and I will get to walk around the ship where we celebrated our first anniversary !! BONUS brownie points for Dad :)
