If it is a tendor port we use ship tours because you get priority off ship. If we know the port we go private tours. We have had good and bad private and ship tours.

We sailed the Emerald in April and May, and it is a lovely ship. Prior to sailing, we were able to book dinners in the Crown Grill through the cruise personalizer. Perhaps that is not available in the Alaska cruises, but it was nice to get the dates and times in advance.

On a recent transpacific cruise with a large number of elites, the elites were not given priority on the tenders. Notification of this was given the first day onboard.

The process was simple. Pack drawer stuff. Stewards will move suitcases and all hanging clothes. Check the night before at pursers desk for when you can pick up key to new cabin. Did not have to do muster drill again.

Enjoyed this shore excursion. We were on the Carnival Dream in January. The lunch was at a club located on the beach. It was a buffet with chicken of some sort, fruit, chips and salsa with some specialty fish salsa. I am a picky eater and found something to eat. My husband liked the meal.

Looking for the turtles was great--I think we saw 5 or 6. We also spotted stingrays. The water was crystal clear and the beach was nice. We had a good guide and restrooms were available. The denote normally used was closed because of an earthquake the previous week so we went to an open air one. The water was brisk but crystal clear. There were many small fish swimming with us. No flippers were allowed at this site.

We are returning in January and seriously considering doing this trip again.

We were on the Dream in January and there were two cruise elegant nights.

Was on the Dream last week in ocean suite. Hallway entryway was blocked off till 1:30. There was no way to get to room before that.

I just ask the room steward for distilled water for a CPAP machine and they bring a gallon. Done this on four different ships.
