  1. Thanks for the live review!  We will be on the Equinox for the Super Bowl Cruise Feb. 2.  Hopefully our Vikings will be there, but I’m sure we’ll enjoy the cruise no matter what happens.   We have been on the Reflection and the Shilouette so looking forward to seeing the differences on the Equinox.  If you’ve sailed either the Reflection or the Shilouette, anything we should know about the Equinox?

  2. We booked on board the end of January for a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise the first of Feb. 2019. We received 2 perks and and additional $150 OBC for booking on board. We then transferred the booking to our TA and received additional OBC. We have done this for the last 3-4 years and feel booking on board is a big plus.

  3. We have the same code on our reservation. We had booked our upcoming cruise on board in January of this year and we received $150 OBC for doing so. We changed our Cabin about a month ago (same category but different location) and the $150 OBC disappeared. When I called our TA to question the loss of OBC they called Celebrity and found out that when we switched cabins the $150 OBC went away. Celebrity added back the $150 OBC and when our TA sent a new confirmation, the code PNP WORKAROU showed up under Special Request. Not sure if this applies to your situation but my TA said that is how Celebrity added back the OBC.

  4. DH and I will be in more formal wear than most! I love to get all dressed up and this will no different on our next cruise. We tend to dress a little lessformal on regular nights but will dress to the nines on "chic" night!

    I like your style!! Couldn't agree more:D

  5. We liked the formal nights on Celebrity and also like the Evening Chic nights. We usually dress up on those nights, I'll wear either a suit or sport coat with a tie. My DW will wear either a evening type dress or slacks with a fancy top and she always looks gorgeous! I think the intent of the previous Formal Night and the current Evening Chic nights was to make those evening dinners special. But with the current "casual anytime" mode, those special dinners are a thing of the past. To the OP's question, slacks and a polo/golf shirt will fit in just fine.

  6. We live in Minnesota and in late March of 2012 the winter had been brutal and we needed to get out of the tundra. I went on the web sit and got a great deal on a 5 night Caribbean cruise on the Century for early April. We loved the cruise and the Century. As has been said the Century is very elegant with the wood and comfortable spaces. We got hooked on Celebrity and will be sailing on our 8th cruise with Celebrity in January of 2018. We really like the S Class ships but the Century has a special place in our cruising life!

  7. We were in an aft cabin in January on the Silhouette and loved it. As was said, there is not much shade, but the views are awesome! We loved getting a nightcap and sitting on the deck at night with the lights shinning on the wake, very mesmerizing. We did not have an issue with any soot on the furniture on the deck. It is a bit of a walk to the elevators, but was not a problem for us. We have not been in Aqua Class so cannot compare.

  8. We were on the Silhouette this January in a C1 Aft cabin # 1210 on deck 10. This has a wider balcony as there is a butlers closet next to the cabin. The views were "outstanding" !! However, there is not much shade so sitting on the balcony at times was not that great. There is not much over hang, so you really have to be tucked back on the balcony to have some privacy. A long walk to the elevators, but that was not an issue for us. We might book another aft cabin, but the lack of shade and somewhat privacy might be a consideration.

  9. Thanks for an excellent post regarding the "positives" of Celebrity Cruises. We first cruised on Celebrity about 8 years ago, looking for a get away from the cold in Minnesota. It was a 5 day Caribbean cruise on the Century. Although we had cruised before (RCCL, Princess) it had been a number of years and we fell in love with cruising again. Since that time we have cruised each year on Celebrity and as has been said before, each one seems to be better than the last! We are glass half full people so we mostly look at the positives of the cruise rather than the minor changes that seem to be the topics of many of the negative posts. A cruise is what you make of it. There are so many things that Celebrity does very well it seems very trivial to complain about the minor changes that have occurred over the years. I realize that trivial issues are very subjective, but we still believe that a Celebrity Cruise is a great value and experience for the money!

  10. I can understand the excitement of upgrading to a better cabin. We booked on board last year in a SV on deck 8 for a cruise coming up on the Silhouette. I had transferred the booking to a TA, but kept looking on the Celebrity Web Site. We had the largest aft balcony on deck 8, but saw that a C1 on the aft on deck 10 with the same size balcony was available. I called my TA and tried to upgrade, mainly for the footstools as the other Concierge amenities are not that great. The first time was a no go. The second time was the same response. On the third try, the TA was able to get us upgraded at no additional cost and we also got a $75 dining credit to boot! Not a big change from our original cabin, but was excited to get the upgrade. So definitely can appreciate the excitement of OP getting the upgrade!

  11. Thanks Tweetylori for a great review. We are on the Silhouette the end of January 2017 for a Western Caribbean 7 day cruise. We've sailed on the Silhouette

a couple of times and know it is a wonderful ship. Your review brought back memories and fueled the excitement for our January cruise. I've followed your posts and review, but my DW has not. So, I'm going to make sure she does before we leave. Thanks again for an awesome review!!

  12. We love the Passport Bar for a before dinner drink. Sometimes there is a musical group playing in the Grand Foyer, maybe even playing music you can dance to! Also love the Sunset Bar, having a cigar and a little brandy to end a wonderful day at sea!!

  13. Love this thread! We will be on our 6th Celebrity cruise January 22nd on the Silhouette. We've loved all of them!! I agree with many of the previous post regarding their favorite things about Celebrity. We have always had the drink package and would recommend it for the ease and not having to worry about the bill at the end of the cruise. We enjoy staying on the ship during port days as the pool area is less crowded and it is like having the ship to ourselves. There are many post on Cruise Critic about small negative things about Celebrity that in the scheme of things are insignificant. As many things in life, a cruise is what you make of it. We've sailed RCCL and Princes and much prefer Celebrity!

  14. Hi Xpresser, We have sailed on the same itinerary on the Reflection out of Miami twice. We love the ship and enjoyed the ports. Since we've been to the ports on the cruises several times, we have enjoyed the "quiet time" on the ship in port while others are on their excursions. Also we liked the 2 days at sea on the cruise back to Miami. We have not sailed on the Summit out of San Jaun, but have on the Constellation (similar ship) and liked that experience too. The Summit is smaller, 2,000 passengers vs 3,000 for the Reflection, but neither seem crowded. On the Reflection we have had cabins on the Hump, and enjoyed the close proximity to the elevators. However, we have booked a Western Caribbean cruise for 2017 on the Silhouette (same as the Reflection) in an AFT cabin and are looking forward to the views of the ships wake. From what you said about your preferences, I think you will like the atmosphere on Celebrity, no matter which ship or itinerary you choose.

  15. We were on the Reflection early February and from what I observed, the Evening Chic was less dressy than the Formal Nights on previous cruises. There were definitely less men wearing a tux, and in general less suits and sport coats. As has been said before, the women seemed more dressed up and not that much different from the Formal Nights.

  16. We were just on a Reflection Eastern Caribbean cruise and were booked in a C2 cabin on the hump angle. I asked at check-in, before boarding, if they could look at what might be available for an upgrade and was told we had to go to Guest Relations once we were on board. So as soon as we were on board I went to Guest relations and inquired about upgrading to a C1 on the Aft of the ship as there were 2 available on the day before we sailed. I was told that the ship was full so nothing available. However, we could be put on a waiting list and they would let us know if anything came available. So we did that. We sailed on Saturday and late Sunday afternoon we got a call from Guest Relations saying that they had an Aqua class cabin available for a $300 upgrade. I told them I wasn't interested in an Aqua class but if an aft cabin became available I would be interested. On Monday morning another call from Guest Relations with the same offer for an Aqua class upgrade. Again I said no. Later on Monday another call from Guest Relations letting us know that a C1 aft cabin was available. In that we were already in a concierge cabin they said there would not be an upgrade fee. We looked at the available cabin but since we were all settled in we did not take the upgrade. Not sure if this helps, but might give you an idea how Celebrity handles on-board upgrades.

  17. We are on the Reflection in early February and ordered our luggage tags on line 3 weeks ago. Since they had not arrived as of yesterday, I called the Captains Club and the rep I talked to said they were having problems with their web site, (whats new??) but would order them right away and I'd receive them in 5 to 7 days. Time will tell if the Captains Club rep is better than the website!!

  18. Is there a Cigar lounge / room on the Silhouette?

Or a location to enjoy a fine cigar with a fantastic single malt Scotch or whiskey?

Planning our winter trip and we have not sailed on Celebrity, just on Royal (which has a Connoisseur Lounge on most larger ships).

    Thanks in advance for information.

We were on the Silhouette this February and the Port side of the Sunset bar is where most of us cigar smokers spent our time. I think there are a couple of places on deck 4 or 5 that allow smoking too. But the Sunset Bar is a great place to enjoy a good cigar and a nice single malt scotch. Enjoy!!

  19. Evening Chic has replaced the Formal Night as the topic that everyone will not agree on. It appears to me, from following all of the Formal Night threads, and now the Evening Chic thread, that since Celebrity does not enforce the stated dress code (whatever it is) , there will always be room for interpretation. One persons definition of formal or chic will differ form an other. Yet, when you look at formal occasions in our society, Presidential Inaugurations, Academy Awards, Weddings & other similar events, it is quite evident that formal attire for men is either a Tux or a suit and tie. So how do people think that when Celebrity has a formal night dress code that these are not the standards? I realize we all grow up in different environments so formal attire may have a different meaning. And the same will follow with the new "Evening Chic". As others have said on the various dress code threads, there has always been something special about dressing up for a cruise, at least on a few evenings. I am part of the crowd who enjoys the formal nights during a cruise and feel the Evening Chic dress code is the first step leading to a "dress as you want" dress code on Celebrity that will definitely change the flavor of the Celebrity cruse experience. Having said that, even though I like the more formal dress code, it is not what the dress code is that is the issue, rather the arrogance of those who choose to ignore whatever the stated dress code is, because "they paid for their cruise and they can do whatever they want". If they would check their cruise contract they would realize that it is not the case. But then, even though I have my opinions that favor adhering to Celebrity's dress code (again whatever it is), those that don't will not ruin my cruise as every day cursing is a gift to be cherished. Life is good!
