I hired private guides for Ephesus, Rhodes and Athens before we left. We met people who took ship tours of Ephesus, Delos and the gullet boat ride in Bodrum and they were very happy.

My suggestions - we toured Ephesus the morning, but the heat was brutal. When we were at the Ephesus dinner,we realized we should have gone to Ephesus in the evening before the dinner to avoid the heat, crowds and also only having to schlep there once.

Rhodes - go to Lindos! Spectacular

Santorini - the only reason to do a ship tour here is to avoid the cable car/ donkey ride. If you just want to Oia, there is a 10 minute boat ride in which you avoid the cable car.....do this!

Our cruise ended 8/8.... We were off the ship already

We had a great trip. We travelled with a 12 and 14 year old and they had a great time. We were afraid there wouldn't be any kids, but there were plenty. Deck party was a blast, candles was amazing, dining room food was overall pretty good. Sports deck was only open on Bodrum day.

Does anyone know which night the deck party is on for the Istanbul to Athens itinerary? Thx

We are sailing the 8/1 windstar Istanbul to Athens. We have never sailed Windstar before, but have sailed plenty of larger ships. My question is about food availability. If we get back to the ship at say 3 pm....are there options for snack/ food? Just wondering what they offer aside from the usual 3 meals per day. I'm not worried that we'll go hungry, I'm just curious. Thanks

Nope...we sail windstar 8/1. Very surprised we haven't received anything

I think it's great they sent something. We are sailing Windstar in a couple weeks and have heard nothing

I booked a private tour.

We are sailing the windstar in August. Dh and I are in our 40's and we'll be sailing with our 12 and 14 year olds. The kids are used to the large ships so I'm sure this will be a shell shock to them. Hoping they are so tired at night that they don't miss the shows and activities.

We booked that weekend too - also off of the "today only" offer.

We received dining for 4, beverages package (2 adults and 2 children with soda package), and $300 OBC. Kids were cheaper via this offer too - not "free", but less than a normal 3rd/4th.

I can't answer for sure, but typically, entrance fees are included with ship tours

We are going to Greece and turkey in August and I'm worried. I'm traveling with my 11 and 13 year old and that's the worry. Am I potentially putting my children in harms way? I don't think we 're going to cancel, but for the first time, I'm weary of traveling overseas

We are doing Istanbul to Athens on 8/1. We are spending 4 nights in Istanbul before the cruise and heading back to Santorini after the cruise. The museum shootings in Tunisia have me a little worried. Anyone else?

We are sailing on 8/1....I booked a private guide in Rhodes and Ephasus. Will just walk town in mykonos and maybe go to beach.....no clue what to do in Bodrum and stumped on santorini. After cruise we are spending 3 nights in santorini so I think we'll skip Oia and the crowds on cruise day and find something else to do.

sunsetbeachgal - we are thinking of booking Ephesus Deluxe. How much time did you spend in each place? Tour I'm looking at is 5.5 hours...its Ephesus, terrace house, museum and Artemis. Doesn't say anything about rugs or lunch so I'm assuming we don't stop for these?

Another tour I was looking at was 4 hours total. It was only Ephesus and terrace house and included lunch /rug factory. I sent an email and they said it was 2 hours at Ephesus. Not sure if that is enough

Thinking about booking this travel company for our day in Ephasus. Thinking of doing 6 hour tour of Ephasus, terrace house, archaeological museum and temple of Artemis. If you were on this tour, can you let me know how your day was structured and how much time did you spend at each place. Did you stop for lunch, carpet factory?? Thanks for any input.

The half day tour includes lunch...I believe we are only in Ephesus about 2 hours. Is that long enough?

How long was your tour? I'm looking at booking a private tour and it's 4 1/2 hours, including Ephasus, terrace houses and lunch. Just wondering if that's long enough. Thanks

We are in Bodrum from 8 am - 7 pm in August. I'm guessing it's not a popular cruise port cause I'm not finding much on it. Any suggestions on what to do for the day? Thanks
