The locker rooms on Excel class ships are on the lower level of the spa where the treatment rooms are. You enter the Spa and to the left you proceed down the stairs then a little ways down the corridor on the left are the mens and women's spa locker rooms. Inside the locker rooms are small lockers, individual stall showers, toilets, sinks. There's a rear exit in both locker rooms that lead to the coed standalone sauna and also to the thermal suite entrance which requires a keycard to open the door to the thermal suite.

As I said earlier both the spa locker rooms and the standalone sauna are available for all passengers to use.

Thank you so much! I've been on the Mardi Gras twice but didn't know that the locker rooms & sauna were there for all passengers. I'll look for them this summer on the Celebration!

If you prefer the old fashioned sauna there is a small co-ed swedish sauna that's located outside of the thermal suite and behind the men's and women's spa locker rooms, which means everyone has acess to this one swedish sauna even if you don't have a thermal suite pass.

Where are the men's and women's spa locker rooms and old fashioned sauna? I have looked at the maps of the Mardi Gras and the Celebration and just cannot see them!

  3. Over this past summer, we arrived to the Orlando airport with a LOT of time before our Southwest flight. We were not able to check our bags until two hours before our flight and thus unable to go through security. There were lots of restaurants before security so we got a luggage cart which made moving around the airport a little easier. I don't know if the two hour rule was Southwest's or Orlando airport's  or TSA's.

We are! Patti has taken over 4K pictures so far. Going to be a very comprehensive report. The bonus is that Willdra is on the ship with us this week. We spent time together at Paradise Beach in  Cozumel, and had a blast. Look for her review in the coming weeks. 😎

I cannot wait to read your reviews and see Patti's pictures! We were on the first sailing last summer (where we did have a lounger on our balcony by request) and are going again this summer. I hope you have a very pleasant last full day and a smooth disembarkation tomorrow! Safe travels!

  5. I have also enjoyed using the spacious showers in the fitness/spa areas on previous Carnival ships. When I was on the Mardi Gras last July, I didn't go look for the showers in the spa areas. I am looking at the deck plan now and don't see where the showers are for guests who are not in Spa Rooms. Does anyone know if the Mardi Gras has showers for non-spa room guests?

  6. Hello Trish! How kind of you to think of your mom's comfort and contentment. 🙂

We were on the first sailing of the Mardi Gras last summer. It is a great ship! Here are some suggestions from our teenager who wandered the ship a LOT...  He just gave me suggestions for outdoor seating in regular chairs (not loungers) near people:

    • Deck 16 near Big Chicken
    • Deck 8 near Pig & Anchor
    • Deck 8 near Watering Hole/hot tubs (my suggestion, not his)
    • Deck 8 near Patio Pool
    • Deck 18 Aft near the Ultimate Playground has some fun seats that can be in the shade depending on the time of day

We hope you and your mom have a great cruise! We'll be there again in July.

....Meanwhile my teen had a good idea, create an email account with the address error - and it seems to have been available - so I did so. Maybe I will get the results that way. Or not.....

I was so proud of your teen for their creative thinking skills! Did you get the results emailed to this new account? I'm (probably way too) curious!!!

So, I'm standing there, admiring myself in the suit when without warning, the slacks quickly fell to the floor.  Right there, in front of everyone in the shop.

The same thing happened to my husband years ago. We were on the Carnival Miracle celebrating a special anniversary so my husband rented a tuxedo from Carnival and I wore an elegant dress. (Let's just say, we were on the heavy side at the time and we don't lead the league in looks but we felt good about ourselves and each other that night.) We enjoyed a lovely formal night dinner. We said goodnight to our wait staff and were walking out of the dining room, between tables of folks finishing their desserts when it happened. The rental tux suspenders broke and down went his pants. He was sporting a pair of novelty Winnie the Pooh boxers that were a bit of an inside joke for us. Well, the folks finishing their desserts were now included in the joke because those boxers were no longer on the inside. With as much dignity as could be, he reached down, grabbed his pants and we exited. And those folks now have a great story to tell their friends at home.

  9. My family and I are booked for the Carnival Pride in July to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday! I received an email from Carnival to upgrade our deck 5 Obstructed View Balcony to a deck 7 Extended Balcony (side, not aft) for $28 (total, not PP)! I jumped on it but am having a hard time believing our luck. Any other amazing upgrade stories?

  10. Hello All,

I have used the search features within these boards but cannot find the answer to a question I have. I hope someone can help. :)

I have seen that it is possible to go to the Steakhouse and order a glass of wine even if you will not be dining there. Is it also possible to go to the Cucina del Capitano and order a glass of wine (specifically, Sartori Amarone) if you do not have reservations? (The specific ship is the Magic.)

    Thank you!
