Spot on. That’s probably one of the least ‘weird’ items on display there. It was a lot of fun.

I’m also having this problem. The add is blocking half my page and the x button and part of the video is hidden (outside the margins of my screen) so I cannot close it. Nothing I have done so far has helped. It is very frustrating.

Sorry! Something glitched, because I posted this for the last one, before the answer was known. Gremlins perhaps.

Not sure now how to handle my next cruise in a few weeks' time in Japan on a ship which will charge in USD and likely want to put a hold on any charges as we go. Maybe I'll give them a credit card to use for the holds and then give them the Wise card the day before departure so that the funds come out against the USD directly.
I did this and it worked well.
I had read all the warnings on here prior to my Feb 2024 cruise about registering a debit card as your onboard payment card, because the holds could be in place for a month, thus preventing me from using my own money. I have a regular Mastercard account which I don’t use much and it incurs regular international conversion fees. I also have a debit Visa card that has no international conversion fees. I decided to register the Mastercard on my onboard account, so any holds would be put against that card.
The evening of the last full day onboard I visited guest services and asked to pay the outstanding balance down to zero using the Visa card. They had to register the Visa so they could take the payment from it. They completed the transaction bringing my onboard account back to zero. Then they removed the Visa card from the system. They still had the Mastercard registered to cover charges in the last 12 hours, although I was pretty confident there wouldn’t be any extra charges at that point. It took about 15 minutes to get it sorted.

I have. It uses the same app as in Australia
Thanks for confirming that. I probably won’t use it, but want to be prepared in case if it becomes necessary.

Hi, 13cabs isn't in NZ. The most common taxi in NZ, especially in the main centres, is the Blue Bubble group. For main centres also, or for airport pickups, Corporate Cabs are very reliable, and are best booked in advance as they have a more limited number of vehicles. They cost more, but will greet you with your name on a card at arrivals at the airport and are very professional, you can guarantee they'll turn up - many central city businesses use them, they're a cut above a common or garden taxi but you pay for that privilege. Having said that, I've used many Blue Bubble taxis and other than one "suicidal" driver who'd just broken up with his girlfriend and was deeply depressed and told me his tale of woe the whole journey, they've been fine 🚙
Thanks for the intel. I rarely catch cabs in Oz either, but sometimes, especially when travelling, it is a must. I’ll have a look at Blue Bubble.

This may be of interest to persons taking a taxi in N.Z. where taxi meters are no longer compulsory but are used by the taxis I prefer.

Negotiate a fare prior to getting into a non-metered taxi or you could end up paying more than you expected to.
Thanks for the link.

For those in the know.
I’ve never used Uber. I know there is an app. Does the app work in every country, or do I need a different app when I’m visiting NZ? Also does the 13cabs app work in NZ or is there a specific taxi app I need to download?
Thanks.

PS I enjoy this thread even though none of my guesses have been anywhere near the mark.
You got the right county, just not the correct ruined castle.

Sure is.
The local coppers must regularly exceed their monthly quota on speeding tickets, because the rev heads love putting their foot down on the Mount Panorama Circuit. We saw someone getting booked right on the finish line.
