  1. Hi there,

I am booked on back to back cruises in the Baltic next year on Regal Princess. The port where we finish one cruise and commence the next is Copenhagen. We are booked into the same cabin for both cruises.

My query is will we be required to formally disembark and then check-in again. I'm wondering whether this will be a waste of a day with formalities or whether we will be able to plan a full day touring.

I did ask Princess here in Australia but they couldn't say what the process will be in a European port.

    Cheers

  2. I've gleaned a lot of info from this site and feel well prepared for our first-ever cruise, but just have a few random questions!

What is the internet like on the Spirit, is it worth buying some minutes? I need to book parent/teacher interviews online which doesn't open until after sailing with interviews being the day after I get back. I'd also like to check email/FB/Instagram occasionally! The internet is expensive, but I always buy it to maintain contact with home and the (grown up ) kids.

Where on the ship is the best free coffee? Is it the filtered coffee that sits in a jug on a warmer, or is it a machine where you press "flat white" or "hot chocolate" like they have at IKEA? Is coffee available 24/7, and are there snacks like fruit/biscuits available 24/7 or should we grab some at breakfast to put in our cabin? I'm not really sure, it is a machine in the buffet area. I have only bought coffee on the Spirit as I'm not a fan of filtered coffee. It is available 24/7 in the buffet area and there is always snacks of some sort available ALL the time, but grab some fruit and biscuits at lunch (buffet area)and take back to the room if you like.

Do you take your passports onshore with you, or leave them in your safe on the ship? Yes. We take out passports ashore for ID purposes.

Have you ever seen anyone left behind after organizing their own excursions? It has happened. Just be as sure as you can be that the person you have booked with is reliable. Check trip advisor etc. I have taken private tours without any issue.

Does anyone know what hours Jimmy's C side BBQ is open, and will it be open on embarkation day?It is open for lunch only (not on embarkation day) subject to fair weather. It is VERY yummy....

For any smokers, what cigarettes are available to buy on the ship - Peter Jackson? Sorry, not a smoker, but there are plenty to choose from and from recollection - all of the popular type brands.

With the 24/7 ice cream, is there also frozen yoghurt?Yes, free frozen yoghurt is available too.

One of our party of four is Vegan, I know they will accommodate, but will the food be good & will she have some choices? There are vegan choices in the buffet area and always something on the menu on the dining room; however, the dining room options are a bit limited and I seem to recall quite a bit of curry type vegan dishes, but the ones I tried were quite nice and tasty.

In Noumea we'd really like to grab some excellent baguettes, cheese and French pastries and sit somewhere awesome picnic-style - any recommendations? Once you have taken the shuttle to the terminus, there is a supermarket across the road. Walk to rear of the supermarket and you be overwhelmed with the gorgeous breads and French cheeses. Truly amazing. The crew love it. They are always there picking up supplies..

Ok I think that's it, many thanks if you can answer any of the above!!

Hope that helps, I have been on the Spirit twice to the pacific.

    Cheers

  3. Hi there,

this is probably a bit of a strange request, but...

I was on the Carnival Miracle last year and unfortunately they didn't have the type of fridge magnet I collect when on cruises. (They sold out the previous cruise).

I would like one and if anyone is going on the Miracle and is happy to get one for me I will happily pay in advance including postage (to Australia).

Any takers. I can send a photo of the type of magnet I would like.

I should add that I did try Carnival to no avail.

  4. We've stayed at the Four Seasons twice before for cruises out of Sydney. Harbour views rooms are more exy, but the views are wonderful. Only a 3 minute walk to Circular Quay.

I would stay there again. 5 star quality. I loved it.

I haven't stayed at the Shangri-La or the Intercontinental.

  5. Hi there,

our cruise ends in San Pedro in May 2014. We are considering renting a car and driving up to San Fransico.

We are from Australia so totally unfamiliar with San Pedro. Are there car rental companies within a short taxi ride from the cruise terminal?

    Cheers,

  6. You will not need anything but Aussie dollars in all ports, except possibly Noumea. And even then the majority of shops will take AUD in Noumea. There may a couple that won't, but 90% will.

I have been to all of the ports you are visiting and they all take AUD. No need to change any money at all. Noumea was the only port I had a problem and that was for a soft drink where they only took local currency. The next shop took AUD, so no problem.

Port Vila is your shopping port! Make sure your taxi/bus is air conditioned. It will be VERY hot. Have fun on your first cruise. :)

  7. Purchase your internet time on board.

You can use different devices. I used an ipad in my cabin and also used the internet cafe. The computers in the internet cafe were faster than the ipad in my cabin.

The time starts ticking once you log on. Don't forget to log off properly, otherwise you'll find yourself with no credit left.

Follow the instructions, it's pretty easy, but there is always someone to help in the internet cafe if you have any trouble.

Use your time wisely as it is expensive.

Have fun aboard the Diamond - she is a beautiful ship.
