  1. If you have not already done so link their booking with yours. You can pay for their excursions, but it does not put your card on file for their S&S card.

I have just done this for my upcoming cruise. They have the other parties card on file, but I used my card to pay for their FTTF when I saw it was available. When you go to the checkout online it will ask you for your card information

  2. Pardon my ramble.

We have been planning on taking a land vacation with some friends for months. My cruise OCD always keeps me checking prices, so low and behold a week ago the cruise prices were cheaper then our land vacation were going to be. We discussed it and decided to go on a cruise instead. I should explain our cruising habits are not typical. This will be our 7th cruise in less that 3 years, but we have never taken anything longer then a 5 day cruise(my work will not let me be out of contact longer than that) this will be our 5th trip on the SKY, and we just this year took 2 cruises on the Carnival Victory.

As I was saying I watched as the prices kept dropping for our cruise next week, and we finally pulled the trigger and booked. I am paying for friends of ours to go(their first cruise) I booked them a guarantee Inside and us a guarantee balcony. We got our balcony assignment within a couple of days. In that time prices dropped again. Instead of being upset I used it to get them an assigned cabin only 2 doors down from us. Today I noticed if I would have waited I could have done the same thing and saved over $200 as prices dropped again. Moral of the story you have to be happy with what you booked originally or you will not be happy on your cruise.

But for those who want to be able to beat the system until you cruise, go to Carnival and book in Advance on the Early saver. I did this on our last cruise and was able to get price matching until 2 days before we sailed. http://www.carnival.com/specials/early-saver-how-it-works.aspx

So either stick with NCL and have better food, and friendlier staff and be stuck with the price of final payment. Or go to Carnival where you can get the absolute best price and still have a decent cruise.

My ramble and 2 cents are now over.

  3. I have only been on Carnival 1 time. I am silver on NCL. From what I observed on my 1 Carnival cruise is they are pretty similar for what people may be wearing in the MDR. And what you are describing would have gotten your husband in on the dress up or not night on NCL without any problems, in fact he would have been one of the more dressed up people.

  4. If you have never sailed on aft balcony take the upgrade, save yourself. We did a aft on our second sailing and have never seen anything else since. It takes the cruise addiction to a whole new level. Save yourself while there is still time. Don't fall into the trap that we did. It starts out innocent enough, a aft balcony with a great view, but it progresses to an Aft penthouse, aft wraparound....

Have fun and like they say...once you have aft you can't go back! :D

  5. I have sailed NCL numerous times, but this will be our first trip on CCL. I will be traveling with my 18 yr old DD on the Victory in January. On NCL a parent could fill out a form for 18-20 yr olds to be able to drink beer and wine. Is this not policy on CCL?

It's not that big of a deal, but thought that it would be a good memory to buy my little girl her first drink. I know I could probably give her one anyway, but I am all for following the rules, and that would not be a very good example to teach her for those who might suggest it.

  6. Somebody mentioned a steakhouse.

Just a heads up, the Victory does not have the steakhouse. Unfortunately, this ship has few choices for dining.

OP, I was actually looking at the Sky for a Bahamas cruise next spring, but decided on Victory because of price and increasing my return customer level. It looked like a very nice ship/itinerary, so I'm very interested in what you have to say about your Victory trip when you return.

I will let you know how it was compared to the Sky. We had a suite on our last cruise, but that was a first. I sure am going to miss our butler setting up a afternoon snack after shore excursions. We have the Aft wrap balcony for this cruise, and it looks fantastic!

  7. I have only sailed NCL in the past. We are going to be sailing on the Victory the first of the year. I have been completely satisfied with my cruises on NCL(all of them have been on the Sky) but decided to try CCL for something different, and the price was Fantastic!

I am thinking that they will be more similar than different. But what are some of the differences that will be experienced? I have chosen the anytime dining so I don't have a total shock to my system. :D How formal is formal night? One of the reasons we have always sailed NCL is the laid back atmosphere and not having to dress up too much. Usually a Golf shirt and khakis is what I wear to dinner. Is this ok?

We will be taking our 4 children. Is the kids club comparable to NCL? They have always had a great time there.

    Thanks for any information.
