  1. My best friend and I are considering booking our husbands together in 1 cabin with us in another and then switch cabins on the ship because while the deluxe beverage package makes sense for the husbands, it doesn't make sense for us. Is it possible to do this? We did it on Carnival some years ago, but have never cruised with Royal Caribbean. Thanks in advance.

  2. I am so sorry you had to go through that!  I worked for Princess as a Customer Service phone rep for 9 years before the shutdown.  Several times when I have called in now I have tried to tell the rep how to do what I need done and they can't even follow that and usually end up messing everything up.  If they ever bring back the customer service stateside I would apply again.  I actually loved helping people plan their cruises, I didn't do it for the money and would have gladly taken a pay cut to come back to work there. So it's sad to hear stories like this.  Have a great cruise!

Consider this - if they are pushing it so much, to who's benefit is it?

On every call the reps are required (marked down on their QA if your call is one that they listen to) to upsell something.  Sometimes it's very hard to get that upsell in so reps usually have a "go-to" upsell that they offer to everyone they can, Plus to Premier is an easy one to offer.

As the thread on the Ocean Medallion App has been mentioned a number of times here I'll drop some relevant info.

The "Screen Reader Accessibility Mode" bug was introduced on 'some' Android devices with the

Nov 1st 2023 release of the Princess Medallion Class App, specifically version 3.0.108702.

Prior to this, my whole family have used Android devices on multiple Princess cruises with no issues. The brand of the device makes little difference to the susceptibility of bugs by less than stellar software engineering teams.

So, if you have a Samsung Galaxy device, AND you have version 3.0.108702 of the Medallion App, AND it's stuck in screen reader mode (announcing page objects to you and pages/tabs are un-scrollable), AND you do not use any Accessibility features on your phone, there is a fix to restore normal app functionality:

    Steps

    Close Medallion App

    Go to:

    Settings,

    General Management,

    Reset (near bottom of screen),

    Reset Accessibility Settings,

    Click Reset settings button,

    Enter Password,

    Click Reset button.

Thanks to member Hagainps for finding and sharing this workaround.

    Once again:

    • DO NOT do this if you rely on Accessibility settings on your device.
    • This only applies to Samsung Galaxy phones. I do not know the equivalent settings on Pixels or other brands.

I was engaged all day yesterday online with a Princess Customer relations agent and got some information passed to the Engineering team, who according to what I was told, have identified the issue and I'll be hearing an update on Monday (tomorrow) hopefully.

Hopefully a new version will be released quickly to the Google Playstore to fix this issue.

    Thank you!  That worked!

  5. If you choose option 1, you actually have the option of having those other items (air, transfers, hotels, taxes, fees, and port expenses) either held for the future OR refunded to you.  Even though some reps and/or travel agents may make it seem like it's not a choice, it actually is.  If you do have them hold the funds you can see those funds listed on the booking confirmation from the previous booking.  There may also be a way for Princess to send you a "receipt" of what's in your holding account but I not 100% sure, I would have to do some checking.

  6. I had the aft wrap on the other side of the ship (8466) while my friends had your exact cabin (8473). We loved our cabin and couldn't care less about not having a sofa. My friends had never cruised before were disappointed with the room. They thought it was small and didn't like no having a sofa. Maybe since it was their first cruise they expected more and didn't have anything to compare it to.

When it comes down to it, it really is a personal choice and what is more important to you.

I love the balconies and aft wraps are my favorite.

  7. Both times I booked 9C's I have had price drops! December of last year on the Breeze and this month on the Sunshine. Both of them, at times, were sold out but I kept checking and they became available again at a lower price, especially at final payment time. It's always possible, just keep checking! Good luck!:)

  8. I am fairly confident the reason for the difference is passenger vs employee. Cruise lines aren't in the habit of compensated for inconveniences, etc due to passengers. For example, there would be no compensation for a rude table mate that ruined your cruise. However, if company employee some how ruined your cruise, you may get some compensation, as supposedly, companies have control over (are responsible for) their employees.

  9. It could be that as a past passenger you were offered a different promotional code with a lower rate that is not combinable with the 3 for free promotion. Often times companies will target very specific demographs to offer certain or special rates, those rates are then (since they are much lower) are not eligible for other promotions.

It's like if you received a coupon for a McDonalds cheeseburger, small fries, and a small drink (essentially a happy meal minus the toy) for, say $1. Let's say a Happy Meal costs $4. You couldn't use your coupon to then get a Happy Meal for $1, it's not applicable. I don't know if that is the case here, but it very well could be. Worth calling again to make sure you got the correct answer. Good luck!

  10. One other caveat- it is true the future cruise credit will go back to your captain's circle account until the day it expires as long as you did not book under a non-refundable, non-transferable promotion. I would always suggest verifying this with either your travel agent or by calling Princess directly.

  11. My son was recently chosen for juror duty. I told him, "oh, no big deal, go online and let them know that you are a full time student at the university 5 hours away (which he is) and they will excuse you, no problem!" Yeah, that didn't happen. They refused two requests to be excused. When he was able to actually get a hold of a live person, they rescheduled him during one of his school breaks! Wow, I was shocked. He needs to work during his breaks to earn money to pay for college.

  12. Thanks so much for the awesome review! I also work in the travel industry and always find it tricky if people find out who I work for, so I never tell, ok, maybe not never but I do keep that info close to my chest, lol.

I love that you get to solo cruise, lucky! My future hubby and my kids would not be happy! Closest I get is a girls 1day cruise every once in a while.

Love reading your reviews and checking out your pictures!
