  1. I’m booked on a 16 days Norwegian Cruise and have been surprised and disappointed with what I’ve seen! Apparently no free room service, 20% extra gratuity on each beverage, even nonalcoholic, and can’t bring water or soft drinks on board. I have to take a lot of medicine and wonder if there is anyplace on this ship I can get free soft drinks or water all day? I usually cruise celebrity or princess and will return to them after this trip! Thx four your help

  2. We will be traveling on Disney Wonder and stopping in Martinique with our 4yr and 7 yr old grandsons. Please advise if we need to take expensive excursion to family beaches or can take cab as want to be sure it’s not a topless beach, and beaches recommended. Also is it far from port for beach or shopping. Anything else you can advise would be greatly appreciated! Thx!

  3. Our family decided against Disney due to high cost. We heard that Royal Caribbean is family friendly. Our grandsons will be about 4 & 7 yrs old and we want to embark at San Juan for southern Caribbean on either the Adventure of the Seas or the Jewel of the Seas. I would appreciate any advice regarding these ships, young children traveling on them, good beaches for them and excursions they may enjoy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  4. We recently returned from a British Isles cruise on the Royal Princess, 12 nights, with another couple. Our cruise was uneventful but I am very unhappy with the way Princess treated our friends. They are in their mid 70's and Platinum tier. Their cabin flooded 3 times! Two of these they were told was due to a broken pipe in the laundry room and one time their toilet overflowed, which I'm sure must have been due to laundry room pipe issues as too much of a coincidence. Their cabin was across from the laundry. Their personal items were not damaged but they had to put up with wet carpet and loud fans to dry it out. They were told they couldn't move as it was a sold out cruise. The only thing Princess did for them was to give them a free ($25) dinner in a specialty restaurant and the couple had to pay for their own wine. I think this was very cheap of Princess and that they should have been compensated more....like a big discount on another cruise. I was wondering if anyone has had problems on Princess or another cruise line and if it was handled better. Thx for your input.

  5. I wish they would have more 'true' 14 day cruises instead of returning to the home port after 7 days. Also, some new Caribbean itineraries would be great. Princess Cays is nice but let's shake it up a bit!:)

We totally agree! My hubby and I love 14 day uninterrupted Caribbean cruises but go on Celebrity as Princess runs back and forth to Fort Lauderdale to get a 14 day cruise and then have to do the lifeboat drill a second time. Also wish the theaters held more passengers for their evening shows.

  6. We were recently on a Disney cruise and customer service desk took our departing flight info and printed our boarding passes and delivered them to our cabin. Do they do this on the Royal Princess? Also, have been on some cruises that check in our luggage for us to the flight and we don't have to mess with them off the ship and get them back when returned to home airport. Does this happen on the Royal? We will be on a British Isles cruise and flying back to Chicago.

  7. We usually cruise on Celebrity but did one Princess cruise on Emerald. The only problem and disappointment was the theater for the shows. People who didn't show up at least 30 minutes early were turned away due to full capacity. We had to arrive an hour early for the early show to ensure two seats together and good seats, not by pillars. We saw others coming that early and many with books and laptops, reading ,waiting for the shows to begin. Is this true of all Princess ships? We are booked for an upcoming cruise on the Royal. Thanks for your help.

  8. We are sailing on the Royal Princess in May and fully plan to put down deposit for future cruise for myself AND my husband while on board. Our friends, who are cruising with us and been on 25+ cruises! alerted us to be sure and do this for each person as then we would receive double OBC!

  9. Problem is there really isn't enough business for everyone to have shuttles. Most people going on cruises out of Bayonne are from the area and not a lot fly in. The hotels in Staten Island have been recommended many times on these boards and they have encouraged business to the port.

Also, I am a retired Police Officer in that county, do not stay in downtown Newark|......There are loads of hotels on Rt 1 and 9 and the aftermentioned Staten Island. Many of these hotels will show an Elizabeth address and some will show a Newark address. Most of the airport is actually in Elizabeth so those addresses are very close.

Finally, lots of info on the East Coast departures board.

Sorry, I meant Hampton Inn on Staten Island when asking if shuttle pick up was right outside baggage claim at the Newark Airport or if had to go to another pickup place and train.

  10. I stayed at The Hampton Inn Staten Island and they have complimentary

shuttle that picks you up at the airport (Newark) AND complimentary

shuttle to the ship as well.

Did the shuttle at Country Inn pick you up at the baggage claim outside the airport or did you have to go to another meeting place and hop on a train as some others wrote?

  11. :rolleyes:Leaving out of Bayonne, NJ for 2014 Eastern Seaboard cruise. Haven't sailed from there before and would like to know if anyone has stayed at the Newark Marriott Courtyard, which is supposed to be close to the cruiseport, and also help with shuttles to port and from port to airport. Sailing on Celebrity Summit. Thanks!
