  1. I am NOT happy about this - a two class "downgrade" cannot be done equitably! A smaller ship with 1142 cabins taking the place of a larger ship with few cabins (1072) means that there is less space per passenger and smaller cabins.  I haven't received my email notification yet but I don't see a resolution for this. And I currently have a Christmas cruise and a group cruise booked on Brilliance for spring, 2023!  Rant over!

Have sailed the Regal a few times since Nov 18.

The MedallionNet speed is excellent and was only added late last year so the comment you read is not accurate for current cruises.

It May also depend on location in the world.

That is what I was hoping to hear!  Thank you for your insight!!

  3.

We sail Regal on February 2nd and one of the YouTube Vlog "experts" reported that the WiFi on Regal was VERY slow - in January 2018.  Now here we are in November 2019.  Has anyone sailed Regal lately that can update their WiFi experience for me?

  4. Has anyone ever shipped luggage home from China after an overseas cruise?

We are going on the Quantum from Cape Liberty, NJ to Shanghai, China and want to ship most of our luggage home so we can tour Shanghai and Beijing without having to haul our large suitcases around on the train (to Beijing) and Plane home.

We'll wave as we disembark from Quantum that morning! ;) Have a wonderful trip east! Bon voyage!!

  5. Yes.. No restrictions on soda pop, water, or other non-alcoholic beverages.

Where did you find this old thread?? It's all dusty and covered with cobwebs. :)

We're getting ready to sail ms Westerdam the end of November. I appreciate your update on soft drinks and wine being brought on board. But one big question that I see on other posts... can it be in your checked bags or does it have to go in a carry on? Since we just live across the state from Port Everglades I don't have to worry about my soft drinks in checked bags, but it is a LOT easier to have the porter schlep it on board than me lugging it and having to deal with the carry on.

  6. You are very smart.

The parking lot is in a bad area.

The Port of Miami is in a bad area... Miami! But this is where my ships sails from this time (not my choice, but I will go along) and I'm not all that happy about it. I MUCH prefer Port Canaveral or Port Everglades - if only my ship sailed from either of those or even Port of Tampa!!

  7. I've been google-searching that chime sound. Can you share where you found yours? I didn't find anything like it on iTunes. I found one on a website, too.

If you haven't found it yet I downloaded this one from PhoneZoo... oops, it won't let me post the file. Find "RoyalCaribbeanPa3" at http://www.PhoneZoo.com or search Cruise Ship and you will find it. Sorry I couldn't post the file!:rolleyes:

  8. Muster Drill on Princess is probably more enjoyable than on other lines. Here we sit in lounges, or, theaters, no standing around on deck.:)

    john

You're right, John... we were thrilled when we sailed Freedom of the Seas last March we found that the muster was much more palatable since it was held in the dining room, lounges, etc. And, no life vest to bang against others!! :D

  9. So many things come to mind on this one.

Arriving at the port and seeing the ship that willl be our hotel/transportation/restaurant for the duration

The first morning at sea with hot coffee on the balcony with my wife

Exploring the ship on boarding day

Watching new cigar smokers while I enjoy my own and offering a light with my butane lighter and sharing stories

that first double dessert in the dining room(yummy)

Seeing my wife on first formal night(yummy)

No matter how bad things may get the sea always makes them better:D

That is a great list of favorite things. You obviously love your wife - and my list is very similar to yours! ;) Thanks!

  10. Darn it, read the first 5 pages of this thread then gave up. Was fun until it turned into a fight on who has manners & how to download an app to your iphone  Grrr. Gonna try to read the pages from here back wards with the hope that I can get the information this thread is suppose to be about. "RCI Secrets they don't tell you" If you want to start a post about the app or Winjammer manners go for it!

    BonVoyage

    Dawna

Yeah, there was some squabbling in there, but there was also some good tips. Amazing, huh? ;)

  11. Apparently the rccl shipmate app is for iphone only. I have a tmobile my touch phone so i just accessed the rccl website from my phone and found the deck plans then clicked on "printable version" and it saved it to my phone as a pdf file. I had to do it for each deck but it only took a few minutes and dont have to worry about internet access. Also, dont get it confused with another shipmate app that tracks packages and luggage.

    great tip-thanks!

If you use an Android phone go to Appbrain, search Royal Caribbean and you will find Shipmate. Install it on your android phone and you will get the deck plans in airplane mode. (At least I did 10 minutes ago!)

  12. This is a very small hint.......When we cruise I am always amazed at the people who wander around the Windjammer with a full plate of food searching for a table......The WJ is usually busy...that is the way it is...however.. find your table first.....put your stuff on it or have one of your party wait there while others get their food. It is so silly to walk around like a sad sack with a full plate looking for a table!:):):)

And those that are wondering around looking like a sad sack are doing so because people took tables before they had their food. (Yes, it IS a pet peeve!)
