  1. We canceled our June Oasis cruise.  Not so much because we are afraid of getting Coronavirus.  We are more afraid that 2 people out of the 6,000 onboard will show symptoms and we could end up quarantined and stuck for 2 weeks.  I was also worried if any of us caught a regular old cold right before going, we could end up getting screened and denied boarding.  Lastly, my two kids are on immunosuppressants so probably shouldn't risk it.  I guess that should have been first. 🙂

  2. My daughter and I went to Coco Cay in November on the Navigator.  There was one other ship in port with us.  The island did not feel overcrowded.  The weather wasn't the best but I got the impression that, even if the weather was better, it would not have been too crowded.  People tend to cycle on and off the ships because its easy to get back and forth.

NOW AS FAR AS COST....When we went the waterpark was $40/person.  We were not interested in the slides but really enjoyed the wave pool even though it was freezing cold.  We had our fill after about an hour so we ate and went off to explore the other (free) parts of the island.  Wave pools are exhausting.  We laid in the hammocks sat by the big beach "pool" area and had a great time.  We will be back in Coco Cay in June and I've noticed the prices have jumped to like $130/person.  There is no way in HELL I would pay that much to go to that waterpark.  Anthem (and most other ships) have FREE slides.  The wave pool is fun but not worth that price.  There are so many other FREE areas that are interesting to see and enjoyable. Royal will host several FREE activities throughout the day on the island that your family may be interested in as well.   Also with so many people off the ship you can easily enjoy the pools on board.  I'm pretty loyal to RCL but all this expensive "extra" stuff they try to suck you into gets on my nerves.

That's my take anyway.  Happy sailing!  Ahh I can't wait till June!

Putting everything in one carry on is more likely going to end up with you being stopped and questioned.  It may be a challenge to explain the multiple cabins involved but you should be okay unless you happen to encounter someone who is being tough just to be tough.

4 bottles in one bag has a high probability of being noticed by security. After a long discussion with supervisors the 4 bottles will probably be allowed to proceed. Unless you enjoy the hassle of arguing with supervisors do yourself a favor and pack the wine in 2 bags.

carry on and you'd be doing your self  a favor by splitting them up by cabin allowance.   if you absolutely must, you can always  repack the bags after you have checked in and are  waiting to board.

Thanks everyone!  This is helpful.  I will just pack in separate bags for each cabin and keep it simple for security and ultimately myself.

  4. My family will be boarding Anthem of the Seas next Saturday in Bayonne.  We are a group of 4 in two cabins.  I know how much non alcoholic beverages and wine we can bring.  We will all be checking in together and what I'd like to do is put all the allowable beverages for both cabins in one carry on bag.  Does anyone know if that would be a problem?  Do the beverages have to be checked?  Do they have to be "packaged" by cabin? I searched and read a few other threads but couldn't find the answer.  RCCL customer service knowledge of port procedures tend to be hit or miss for me.  Any info will help.  Thanks all.

Being an introvert or extrovert is more about how you recharge yourself. Think of your phone (or your Walkman, if you're one of those people). When it isn't plugged in, the battery is slowly draining. It works just fine until it gets down to 10-15%, then it starts sending out warnings. "Plug me in!!" The phone (Walkman) is you. Your battery is slowly draining when you are away from whatever it is that charges you. You manage just fine, until you've been away from your charging situation too long. For me, an introvert, I charge when I am not interacting with people. If people keep trying to talk to me when I am trying to recharge it makes me angry and resentful. I want be left alone, not because I hate them, but because I need a break. I need to not have to answer questions or interact. I need to process and think and be alone with my thoughts, again not because I am being dramatic or can't deal with your crap, I just need that time. I can't explain it because it just is that way. Extroverts, I guess, are the opposite. I would imagine after being left alone for a while, an extrovert needs to interact with someone in order to recharge.

I can 100% relate to this.  I also have a teenage daughter that doesn't quite understand my special needs.  (BTW apologies to anyone reading if I didn't post this correctly)

  6. We are 47 days out from Anthem sailing and still not able to make entertainment reservations.  I never saw iFly or NorthStar go up but others on CC say they have been able to reserve for those.  Even though I know eventually we'll be able to make the reservations and things will be fine, this is annoys me.   My suspicion is that it has something to do with tempting people to buy The Key.  If people "panic" and think they won't get to see/do what they want, they'll buy The Key to be sure.   That's my theory anyway.  I'm not falling for it.  I'll wait until I get on the ship if I have to.

  7. On Harmony August 2017 I won $3,100 on the last night of the cruise. After winning and losing all week, I think put in about $100. This was on a penny machine with $1.50 max bet.

I like to go to the casino right before bedtime and drink a couple glasses of wine. I don't stay long because I start to get sleepy. So that keeps me from going overboard and its fun. :D

  8.

Thanks. It was this document but it was up-to-date for recent sailings on Anthem. At least I know I'm not totally insane :D:D. RCCL may have stopped publishing it. I could call but I feel like the customer service reps don't have as much information as Cruise Critic members.:p:p:p

    Anyway thanks for responding.

  9. Does anyone know if there is a place close to where Anthem of the Seas docks in San Juan where you can drop off donations like books, batteries or small meal packs? We will be there in June and was hoping to bring somethings other than money to donate. I could send or bring money but I wanted to do something a little different. Thanks.

  10. OMG! I was just thinking this!! The website has been driving me crazy all weekend trying to make reservations for my time dining, shows and activities for our June 14th Anthem sailing. I don't understand why you can't make my time dining reservations for multiple nights from one screen. Back and forth, back and forth for each day. At point, the site would not allow me to add people from another cabin to my show reservation. Later it worked. RCCL needs to better. I mean really! Everything is done now but I just wanted to vent.

  11. Thanks Gaylemh for responding. Although showtimes can change for various reasons, I know there was a document that showed the planned show dates and times. It's possible that RCCL took it down but I was hoping it still existed somewhere. Or I'm looking for anyone who has been on a 9 night Bermuda/Carribean Anthem sailing recently and could tell me show dates and times for the no-reservation required shows.

  12. A few months ago I found a pdf document listing all the shows on Anthem, including the ones that don't require reservations, on the RCCL website. It was the full schedule with dates and times through May 2018.

I can't find that pdf now and would like it to help figure out our schedule for our June 14 sailing on Anthem.

Does anyone have this pdf or a link to it on the website? Or any recent Cruise Compasses I could use to estimate what we could expect in June. It would be really helpful. Thanks!

  13. I'm not sure if this is proper here or on the Florida Departures board, but since it is RCI, I will start here.

When we cruise we totally unplug. So the question is if we use luggage Valet, does that only cover luggage to airport? Or does that include the online check in? Our last day is a sea day and we won't have the access to do the SouthWest check in. Or do you just buy an hour of time and use the ship computers.

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

I had this same issue on our Harmony cruise in August. I did purchase internet access for a limited time for $8.95 (I had a $1 off coupon). I think it was for either an hour or 24 hours. I forget which. I went to the library and did online check in and printed our boarding passes with no issues. An elderly couple was trying to figure out how to get access to check in. I gave them the access code for the rest of the time. Nine bucks is better than $15 x 4 people for early bird check in.

  14. For a few moments, I felt the same way as the OP. But then I realized, the businesses on these islands need cruise ships to return. They need the money now more than ever. They can't rely on income from fellow residents so tourist have to come back and regenerate their economies. RCCL has done a great deal of humanitarian efforts i.e. delivered food, supplies, taken people to safety, etc. They can't do that forever.

USE THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP. Bring extra clothes, calling cards, sanitary napkins, diapers, etc. with you to donate. Bring extra money. Find out if there is an opportunity for you to volunteer for something while on these islands. There are so many ways to handle this productively vs making angry phone calls or walking away from the opportunity.

  15. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with the OP sharing their feelings about RCI or any other cruise line on this here "social" site about CRUISING.

I'm only posting to say that, regarding the room service charges, the $7.95 per room order charge has been in effect for awhile now. I tried it in August on Harmony and it was really worth it. The food was really tasty.

Just my opinion on the room service.

  16. Can you take a look at cabin 6277 and post what is around it? On the floor plan it shows a cabin that is all by itself with void space around it. I don't think RCL would allow so much void space so I'm thinking that it is a crew area of some sort. Can you tell if it is something around that cabin that would generate lots of noise? Thanks!

  17. My son wants to sail on the Harmony, so I'm looking for cabin info. I can't decide between Central Park Balcony or Royal Promenade Balcony...or perhaps the corresponding view rooms. DS is 26 and high funationing autistic, so he will be in the cabin connected to DH and I. DS adores noise and confusion...I know, go figure. He also likes music which I've read is a nice feature of the CP cabins. Please share your experiences, opinions, and pictures to help me decide.

Also...does everyone in the travel party have to buy the same drink Packages? TIA.

OP - When are you sailing? My DS is 24 (25 by our next cruise) and is also high functioning autistic. He also loves music. I was hoping this cruise he can find others to interact with as much as possible. We are on the August 26 Harmony sailing.

  18. I just booked cabin 6277 on HOTS for August. According to the deck plan, the cabin is located in some what of an odd place. There are no cabins on either side of it - just blank space. On the surface that seemed like a benefit (no one on either side making noise) however, I can't imagine that ship just having void space. I'm wondering if that space is used for storage, laundry or some other use that would require noise or people going in and out late at night or early in the am.

Is anyone familiar with this cabin or this area?
