I ended up doing the opposite. We found a fairly reasonable taxi, saving us $17pp x 6 people to do it directly through the hotel. I'll be back in two weeks and if I remember, I'll let you know how it went ;)

I have been asking taxi services for quotes also and seriously am I the only one that thinks these people are insane? We are going from port to Hilton rose hall, 6 people. This is an 11-12 mile trip each way. I have been quoted the best price was $95 rt total and up to $210 rt total. Most were around 150-180. Taxi drivers in Jamaica must be rich, lol If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them ;)

Thanks BuddyJones...Yes that is an option but its 117 pp and its only 85 pp buying from hilton instead. I did find out that they do not offer a shuttle so you would need to get a taxi if you don't go through resort for a day...and those taxis are expensive but I still think we will save a little that way.

We are 6 people planning to get day passes for the Hilton.

Can 6 people fit in 1 taxi or will we have to get two?

From what I read, taxi is per person...so If I am understanding correctly..At about $10 pp, a round trip ride for 6 of us will cost $120 or more for this 15-20 min drive? That seems insane to me. So do you think the taxis will negotiate a price or do they just get what they ask for?

I'm quite sure its not difficult getting a taxi leaving the port but how is it getting a return taxi from the Hilton?

If we go through rfad, it will cost $705 to go to the resort, if we buy direct, $510.

I see it is cheaper to book the day pass directly through the hotel. Has anyone done this instead of resort for a day?

I tried to book stingray, starfish and snorkel with acquarius but they are booked and won't recommend an alternative tour operator. Any other tried and true operators? Its my fault for waiting too long to book...

Does the Hilton have free shuttle between hotel and montego bay cruise port?

Does anyone know if the hotel provides transfers between them and the cruise port in Montego bay? It is a little cheaper to book the day pass directly through the hotel but I was wondering about transportation. Thanks for input. Also, if not through the hotel, who do you book this through?

I was on Carnival Magic this past August and they announced that we would not be able to dock at Mahogany bay due to weather but would instead dock Coxen Hole. We did with no problems and our tour people knew of this change and were there to meet us!
