  1. We stayed just 2 rooms forward of the Family Harbor Lounge (2421). It is under the Galley (kitchen) which seems to never close. Sounds like pulling a refrigerator across the floor, which was our ceiling. Also dropping pots and pans sounds. Started around 3 in the morning about 6 nights of our 10 day cruise.

If you overlay the deck plans, the galley is above cabins 2354 thru 2426 on the port side and 2361 thru 2443 on the starboard side. I would avoid anything in between.

WOW I'm booked for New Years in cabin # 2415. I guess I'll have to pack earplugs. Thanks for the heads up .

  2. I'm diamond on Carnival and Platinum on Royal. If its just my wife and myself we sail Royal. If I'm taking my kids its Carnival. Carnival's price is better. Royal has the Anthem of the seas less than an hour away from our home. IMO you can't compare Carnival's lido food to Royal's Windjammer. Especially at night. Carnival gives you a slice of meat or a sandwich and a fluff up coffee desert if your lucky. Royal is a whole different league Carnival ships can't compare to Royals mega ships. There both good company's. I own stock in both. Give it a try. see hat you think. Your millage my vary.

  3. I found the service in carnival to be noticeably better. Especially dining room. On allure and Oasis the staff are overworked, almost impossible to get drinks, etc. I'd still take Allure any day but even my wife was pointing out the drastic quality difference in service and how much better it was on Carnival.

I've only used the dining room a few times on Royal. For me the windjammer has more than enough food to make me happy. Carnival's lido cannot compare. At night the windjammer has staff walking around the tables offering hot deserts. On the last few cruises at night a staff member would go around the tables with a guitar singing. Royal Caribbean has staff guiding people to the hand washing stations at the windjammer entrance. Carnival's casino has cheaper table games in the casino, and larger cabins. I also find Carnival is easier to get the stock OBC than Royal. I live an hour away from the Anthem of the seas. We've been on it twice. In the winter the Anthem sails for 12 nights. That's a big plus for me. We have the Anthem booked again for January 28. We have the Carnival Vista booked for Dec 30. I'm looking forward to sailing on the Vista too. Carnival and Royal are both good cruise lines, but the older I get the more I enjoy Royal Caribbean.

  4. The Allure is a ship you need to see to believe. I'm Diamond on Carnival. Been cruising Carnival since 1990. I just turned Platinum on Royal Caribbean. The ports on Carnival are better. Royal's big ships can't get into a lot of them. Price Carnival still wins out. Service? Royal Caribbean by a mile. Ships, Food, entertainment, embarkation, and Debarkation, I find Royal Caribbean to be much better. I find the Carnival staff and crew to be overworked and overwhelmed. Carnival has changed A LOT since 1990, and not for the best.

  5. I am in the minority. I was so excited to get a Cove Balcony on my last cruise but it was wet and dirty 100% of the time. Not from sea spray either. Standing water. And debris.

I had one on the Carnival Dream and felt the same. I was excited too. After a day or two with all the steel it felt like I was inside of a steel shipping container when I sat on the balcony. I have another one booked on the Vista over New Years. Not by choice, but it was the only cabin that could take 5 to a room. I hopping for a drier experience on the Vista.

  6. Although many of you are Carnival loyalist on here and that is great for you but this is our experience so please don't inflame as this board is for all opinions. We had large group of family and sail every other couple years together have been on Royal, Carnival and Disney. Our last Carnival cruise though was 2010 on the Dream which we enjoyed. However this time Carnival Magic lacked so much which makes cruising fun!

Embarkation was fine until we got on the boat at about 12:15 & it was a complete zoo never have i seen a lido buffet area with lines that wrapped around the entire inside, huge lines for burgers and burritos, no where to go and down right stifling hot it was so frustrating off to bad start however next time i will make sure we arrive after 1:30 when cabins are open and maybe less people everywhere!! However this foreshadow what was to come, Lines, Lines, and more lines, and people everywhere on this ship!!

The ships public areas are just too small especially the pools and lido buffet etc for the amount of passengers!

Definitely carnival cutbacks, sorry but the food on this ship was below average & not what we have experienced on past cruises. Buffet was awful & dining room dinner choices were few and overall food came out cold and flavorless, the servers are so overworked that when we asked for other things they were never brought and refills were non existant on drinks and drinks took forever, many drinks we ordered but never received.

Entertainment was sparse and consisted mostly of line dancing to same songs, sea days had few activities by the pool only hair chest contest & loud music. The shows were few and not very good and there just weren't a lot of night time activities, the deck party was no food, no midnight buffet or snacks just once again passengers dancing. Only late night food was pizza and the line was so long and slow! Room service twice ran out of food we ordered on menu!

Our cabin was great if it wasn't so hot and never cooled down and basically carnival did nothing to help us offered a fan but never received it! However the cabins are spacious and tons of storage and the closets were big with lots of hangers the bathroom had lots of shelves.

On a good note, the ship was very clean and always being cleaned especially the bathrooms, all the workers we encountered were very friendly and helpful, and working hard! The ports were great, nassau, amber cove (although wished they made a beach area not just a pool) and Grand turk was the nicest! Embarkation was rather painless! The weather was great all week so that was nice, best part the drinks were strong so we drank more then we ate!

We've always liked carnival in past but after not sailing on them in 7 years, things have changed for the worse and too many other choices out there when your spending way over $1000 pp and additional $380 for drink package! If you have any questions i will try to help, every cruise is what you make it of course and we made it fun cause we had large group but the Carnival Magic disappointed all of us:(

I understand where your coming from. I've been sailing Carnival since 1991. The cutbacks are for real. In 1991 I paid around 5000 for a balcony cabin 007 on the Carnival Celebration for our Honeymoon. I can get a balcony cabin today for around 2800 on some carnival ships. The service is nothing like it was in the 1990's. I booked the Carnival Vista family cabin for New Years this year because my Diamond I could pick the 3rd 4th and 5th guest free. I own stock in both Carnival and Royal. IMO I like Royal better. The ships are nicer, the service is very good, and I like the food.

  7. Five days ago got home from my 9 night Anthem cruise. Another great cruise. I live around an hour drive from the port. This was my second Anthem cruise and they just seem to get better each time. The selection of food, and the quality up at the windjammer is unreal. IMO Carnival cannot compare. One thing that surprised me was I needed 4 more day to become Platinum on the 9 day cruise and when I boarded my sea pass still said gold. On the Bright side my next cruise will be my Platinum cruise. I only have another 193 days until my next cruise on the Anthem. I also Booked the Harmony of the seas when I was on board. :)

  8. I am sailing on the Imagination for new years eve and I am very excited. However, I have found very little about what to expect on board cruising on a Carnival ship during this time. Does anyone have any experiences about this? Thanks in advance!:D

A great time for sure. I've cruised New Years many times and I can tell you the ship feels more high energy from the time you board. The crew always seems upbeat too. There's a deck party up on Lido, and a party in the atrium. Free champagne when you board, and also up on the lido New Years eve around 11:30 PM. Some go all out when they dress for New Years. its like formal night taken to another level. IMO out of all the cruises I've done, New Years is by far my favorite time to cruise. This year its the Carnival Pride New Years cruise for us. (I like your name. I still play a lot of pinball)

  9. Leaving Sunday on the Pride. A couple questions:

    1. Our embarkation paperwork indicates an 11-1130 arrival time. We are traveling by Uber from about 45 minutes away. Am I correct that the earliest one can board this ship is around 1pm?

We booked too late for FTTF and sitting around the Port of Baltimore does not sound like great fun to us. What is the best time to arrive where we will be able to check in and then just walk onto the ship?

    2. Somehow we got put into late dining. Will we be able to change this to Our Time Dining or Early Dining? What is the procedure? What if we show up earlier than our late seating time?

    Thanks!

We're leaving on the 26th on the Pride. I'm looking forward to your review

  10. I agree that it was because Miracle was originally slated to go to China and then they changed the plan but I don't think it is a great loss to be on a ship without Guys!

I cannot see that those burgers are worth waiting on the lines I have seen on other ships!!

The burgers are very good. I usually know by the third day what time is best to beat the lines.
