If you win all the great games on board you will have plenty of that great Champagne Princess gives out for winning. :o :o It's made everyday in the boiler room.
Tony
Â
Yes, their best champagne. Vintage: Thursday.

The Terrace pool on the Ruby was fun last August. We were on the way to Victoria, off the coast of Vancouver island. The sea was running about ten to twelve feet and the water in the pool was sloshing back and forth. I had the pool to myself and it was quite a workout fighting the waves. DW and her parents said it looked like I was having fun, but they didn't join me. They sat on lounge chairs sipping their non-alcoholic fru-fru drinks.

I think you are on to something. I like Andrew's enthusiasm as podcast host. The content is off to a great start too. The podcast on buffets has a distracting echo that makes everyone sound like they have a bucket over their heads; you might want to check into this. I have ran into this in episodes of other people's podcasts too, so it isn't just you, nor the entire series.
Â
I would also shorten the musical interlude between the introduction and the main part of the podcast. I find waiting for the same tune to finish each time a bit annoying, but I'm sure that it is probably just me. Most podcasters that I listen to do this, and while I don't care for it, it isn't a deal breaker for me.
Â
I am looking forward to hearing more podcasts in the future. You're off to a great start; keep up the good work.

A dollar per day for food??
Not the way I eat! :D

I have always preferred a table and chair. My wife likes booths. A lot of places that we go have a booth bench on the wall and a regular chair on the other side of the table. My wife sits on the bench, adjusts the table, then I plop down in the chair and scoot up to the table.

AT&T worked fine for us in Alaskan ports. You can akso dial 611 from your cell phone at home to talk to customer service and ask your questions. They would have access to your account and coverage maps.

The best advice I can give you DON"T PLAY double your money fold it in half and put it back in your pocket 💸 💸
Tony
Â
I agree with Tony. The only winning move is don't play the game.

Another thumbs for CC:)
Â
This is your one stop shop for anything cruise related and then some... A valuable resource for new cruisers and for the experienced traveler alike:cool:
Â
It sure is a great site! I have learned a lot here too. I feel like I know people here. We share more than just cruise information. I haven't cruised a lot, but I am looking forward to becoming someone who can answer questions for people. In the meantime, I answer what I can.
Â
I can't come on here at work. I drive a School Bus. In my district we are not allowed to have our cell phones powered on aboard the bus. I can imagine the firestorm I would bring down on myself if I got on CC while driving. And you thought that texting and driving was a distraction...

My daughters will be 8, 9. And 17 when we take The Ruby to Alaska in August. I'm glad to see that security will be supportive should a situation like this arise. However, I'm not worried about it as my wife and I haven't raised victims either.

We don't sneak food off of the ship, we don't sneak booze on board the ship, and we dress up on formal night. People might think we're boring, but we go with the program and enjoy ourselves and never have to give a second thought to potential consequences or rehearse excuses. We can enjoy the cute doggies and admire (from a distance) the big guns.

Not worth it from Amtrak IMO
Â
Thank-you for this info. I agree that a cab is the way to go from Amtrak to the waterfront. We would be likely to meet people on the train to split a cab, that is how we are. :)
-
Does the Skytrain have a stop at or near the train station to Seattle? My wife and I had considered taking the train to Vancouver and a cab to the pier, but if we can connect via the Skytrain that would be great.
-
My wife and I are willing to try out the Regal or Royal. The only feature that we really do not care for on the Royal class is the lack of a promenade that goes all the way around the exterior of the ship. Looking at pictures others have posted, we have decided that we can "make do" with this class. :D

Also if you can, have dinner in San Francisco!
Â
What are some good family places in San Francisco for dinner? I have a wife and three daughters, ages 8, 9 and 16. They know how to behave in a nice restaurant; they don't have fast-food behavior.
-
I get one or two per year. More would be nice.

The Coral Princess doesn't have a Skywalkers.
Â
We could make our own Skywalkers, with a few deck chairs and a couple of duvets on an upper deck....
-
Port is left and starboard is right when facing forward. (Towards the pointy end).
Also, port wine is red. That helps to remember the red navigation light is on the port side. Also why Princess chose red for the stripe in the port side hallway.
-
No way! I want on board as soon as possible. I would board now, if I could, even though I don't go until August. :D
Â
The carry-ons for us fit in a small backpack that I am willing to wear until we manage to wander to our cabin. It is always better to be aboard the ship, exploring and meeting new people than be cooped up in a stuffy waiting room with nothing to do.
Â
We don't really *need* our cabin until it is time to change for dinner.
-
Book your quad room early. They fill up fast. We have an inside quad for our Alaska cruise in August on the Ruby. It is a small room, but we are in there to sleep, shower and change clothes. Every other waking moment we are out seeing and doing things, visiting with people.
Â
A balcony would be a waste for us. We wouldn't use it.

I've never been to Princess Cays. It was good to see your review of it. The conversation brought up the fact that the employees on the island are not Princess Employees. This fact sets my expectations for interactions with them. Thank-you for taking the time to post your opinions.

I like cruising with people who enjoy the trinket shops ashore. They keep my wife company and leave me free to go directly to the nearest saloon. :D
-
I like soda water and lime and ginger beer and lime as my soft drinks of choice. Are these available and are they part of the Soda and more package ?
Â
Soda water out of the gun at the bar is included, as is lime. Ginger beer probably not as they don't have it on the gun. You would have to purchase a can or bottle of it, if they have it in stock.

I don't usually eat gluten free deserts unless the don't have the regular dessert offered so I might not be the best judge but I thought the gluten free items on the Emerald weren't prepared very well compared to other ships like the Royal or Regal. The tapioca & rice pudding were always mushy as were some others. I don't know if is was the missing gluten or just because of the preparation.
Â
My wife just started eating gluten free. She isn't Celiac, it is a sensitivity and her doctor told her to go gluten free since she feels better when she does. Anyway, I have had a chance to taste the gluten free desert items available at the grocery store and in restaurants. In my opinion they are not as good as traditional desert recepies that contain gluten. The wheat flour substitutes seem to be more grainy, and they also seem to be sweeter. It comes across as your child's first attempt at cooking, and while it isn't burned or made with spoiled ingredients, it isn't quite right, but you eat it anyway
Â
However, it is comforting to know that she will be well taken care of on our Alaska cruise this summer.
-
Also, avoid cliches. (like the plague)
Â
Thank-you for the morning laugh, Pablo. I almost had coffee come out my nose.
:D
Cigar smoking etc

I suppose a non-smoker would call it too smokey, but it was always a lot better than any tavern that I have ever been to.
