  1. I believe Blu opens at 5:45. As an aside, I where hearing aids and have purchased an optional microphone which my wife either clips on or wears on a cord around her neck. I also bring it on tours and the guides are more than happy to clip it on for my benefit. It's slick, especially on walking tours and small tour vans where there is no amplification. It's rechargeable and lasts several hours.

I got it at Costco. Hope it violates no rules saying so.

Thanks for the tip. I bought my hearing aids there, but didn't realize you could buy a microphone.

  2. If I go the first night as soon as they open and choose a table, will I be able to ask that they give me the same table each night at 6:00 (when they open)? The reason I would do this is because I have quite a bit of hearing loss, and need a table for two that is protected from at least two sides if I want to be able to hear my wife during dinner (which I do:))

  3. Hi friends,

Going on our first Celebrity cruise in June and would love to know what is your

favorite dessert onboard. It can be from a specialty restaurant or anywhere that really made you go mmmmm!

    Thanks!

Chocolate cake with ice cream in Blu was really good. i think it's a dulce de leche cake, but am not positive.

  4. I am hearing impaired and have a hard time having a conversation with my dw in the mdr. On a transatlantic last April, on the the first night I was at the door as soon as they entered, and was taken to table 454 which ended up being perfect for us. It has a window on one side, and a partition behind where I sat, so I was only hearing noise from in front of me and to my right. I asked if we could have the same table every night if we came right at opening time and they made a note of it and took us to the same table every night. We're doing the TA again this April, but in aquaclass so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a table for 2 to us.

  5. The only thing that might bother me is missing a sea day (assuming that is the first day??)...otherwise, it doesn't cost that much to get between islands.

Doing a transatlantic going east, the first chance we would have had to board would have been 8 days later in Portugal. We're from northern Canada so we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale Friday night for a Sunday departure. Takes all the stress out of the pre-cruise travel.

  6. On our transatlantic in April, we made an unscheduled stop in the Azores to drop off a sick and/or injured passenger. On the same cruise we had to return to the port of Vigo Spain to drop off another passenger. At a third port there was an ambulance waiting to take yet another passenger. It's a good thing the cruise finished a few days later or there would have been no passengers left!

On a RCCL cruise some years ago, the hotel director suffered (we were told) a heart attack. They didn't airlift him off but increased speed to get to San Juan much earlier than planned.

Medical emergencies happen on a ship, probably more frequently than we realize. When you think of the number of people aboard, crew and passengers, it's the equivalent of a decent-sized town.

We were on that April TA. In addition to all that, we were told that someone died before we even left port in Ft. Lauderdale, and that's why we were a little late leaving.
