For the people that are so scared of these ports why even cruise/spend money in the first place??

People book cruises year in advanced. Way before this latest outbreak of violence and breakdown in society in Haiti. In other ports it is an uptick in murders that caused the state department to issues warnings.

Royal cancelling stops does not mean Labadee is unsafe. Personal safety during a port stop was WAAAYYYYYY down the list in this decision making process.

nope, first they canceled excursions as it wasn't safe. then they cancelled the port as it wasn't safe. but you do you....

So, we should visit Haiti never?   You have gone on, but I am still waiting for the invasion of the zip line and the battle of the jet skis.  I mean there was so much danger, think of all the Coca Cola left behind.  If I was starving the battle of the mountain coaster would keep me alive for months.  😉

You obviously have never been starving otherwise you probably wouldn't be making jokes. People in desperate needs do desperate things, but you do you.

Haiti has been messed up for decades.  Yet never anything more than nuisance issues at labadee.

I am sure that Moscow venue was safe for years too. Everything is safe until it is not. When you have an island where law has broken down and RCL has canceled porting there then you need to open your eyes.

Weren’t you worried about Haiti at a very high level?  I am thinking your logic is a bit off.  Port Au Prince is super scary.  Labadee, not.  Ocho Rios, Jamaica, pretty scary… anywhere outside of fenced in cruise line areas pretty scary.  Falmouth, Jamaica not so much.

I am sure that the thugs in Port Au Prince will be in control of the Haitian Navy and will conquer Jamaica this weekend.  So much for March Madness.😂

Jamaica has a leader that is in the country and not hiding in another country. It doesn't have 4,000 escaped convicts, Half the country isn't starving, They are not. waiting on a peace keeping force to restore order.... shall I go on???

No. I guess I am asking, can I call and just pay them now, 2 months before sailing? I'd like to be as done as possible with all but the fun stuff when I get on board.

Check your original invoice. If you paid already it will be listed

I'm unclear about how pre-paid gratuities work. Are they really "pre-paid"? Or are they just automatically placed on your bill to pay on the last night of the cruise?

Right now, my bill is zero. But I don't believe I have paid gratuities. I have looked on the site and cant find a place to.

You joined in 2003 is this a joke post as other people are reviving posts from 8 years ago??

I appreciate your sense of humor, but again, airport is for several hours. Still it is a torture.

Not sure why if it does not affect you (read away from the public) "public" should dictate how it is should be done.

Read the forum on smoking. There are people that have complained that the smoke from the smoking area goes into the balconies below. Casino are not closed in so that smoke goes around too. Away from public isn't really away. I am glad you agree that second hand smoke is torture.

I agree about areas being away from public, but disagree about bolded text.

It is completely different processes and I do not think other people should make a decision for people.

It’s just like some airports. There’s an enclosed room for all the smokers. Heck they don’t even have to but cigarettes they can just enhale all that second hand smoke

I used to smoke a lot, but could never do this in enclosed places. For the same reason I hated casinos. So no, not everyone likes to be in “gas chambers”.

I remember there were some places away from crowds … although I noticed that some people go out of their way to “inhale and complain”.

If they were stuck in there with their own smoke they might just decide to give it up. If they are on an island far away from non smokers I don't have an issue. It is just when it interferes with my enjoyment I have issues. I was hoping when vapes came out people would use those instead of cigarette. At least with those it dissipates a lot faster, but even those I don't want to be next to someone doing it.

So does the perfume and aftershave that people bathe themselves in daily.   Those fumes are just as detrimental to people with lung conditions as smoking is!

I can't smell aftershave or perfume 10 feet from someone, I can smell smoke like 30 to 40 feet away and on ships if you are below the smoking section it goes right into your balcony. They should make it all smoke free.

I don't understand why non smokers have to be so mean when answering.  I don't smoke and I have asthma but that doesn't give me the right to be mean or judge what others enjoy. I don't drink but I don't complain about the drunk people.

When I was young smoking was done in hospitals, restaurants and every where in between. Just be glad it's not like that anymore.

To the OP just find the designated areas and stay away from grumpy people.

Probably because the smoke from smoking just doesn't stay with the smoker it drifts into non smokers. I think there would be less of this if there were like smoking boxes where the smoke stayed with the smokers everyone would be happy.

Each itinerary is unique and the available alternate ports for every day of the year is unique, so there is little point in tracking what might occur on Monday versus Tuesday versus Wednesday of any given week.

There are always multiple cruise lines competing for multiple cruise ports.

It's like predict the outcome of a game of musical chairs, but then another cruise line has an event unrelated that changes the game.

What Royal offers for your cruise is irrelevant for any other cruise.

List of your ships alternate port or sea day that is replacing Labadee ONLY please

I find it fascinating that this post has so few replies. What happened to all the individuals that were saying this would never happen just two days ago?

Yep I am glad RCI listened to reason instead of them.

Their statement is hilarious ". At all times, we remind guests to remain aware of their surroundings while ashore and follow all State Department guidelines. "   You know what the State Department guideline is? "Do not travel to Haiti due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure. "

Ignoring the rest of the post (because I don't really care to explain the how and why of violence towards an end) I'm baffled that someone who's on here and presumably has sat through a muster drill would act like mass evacuation doesn't require planning. It does speak to our safety procedures that safety planning is so seamless it's invisible to you - as they say, every regulation is written in blood...

I continually surprised that people think criminals escaping from prison sat thru some presentation that shows them evacuation routes rather than them opening their eyes and seeing massive holes in the walls and following the person in front of them.  No mass evacuations do not need safety briefings. When I go to a mall and a shooting starts I know to head for the exits. If you think rape and murder is violence towards an end then really there's no logic around.

I can tell you're not a project manager: organizing ten people to do one thing is like pulling teeth, let alone 3,000

I am not sure what this means at all. If there is a fire in a building do you need a project manager to organize them to leave? These are criminals who just had their jail cells opened up by gangs. You think they then sat in a class for several hours to organize how they should leave? Kids in grade school know how to line up and leave a building. I don't think people understand the true situation in Haiti. These are gangs that are taking over the country these are not political opposition leaders.
