  1. I was nervous about going because of the number of bad reviews. I shouldn't have worried. The Ice Show was great-fun and inventive. The Champagne Bar was great-get Phil to make you a whiskey sour. It's not like anything you've tasted. It is not your grandmother's whiskey sour!

We would have booked Giovanni's each night if we had known how wonderful it was.

This is the second time we have paid for the premium drinks package. It is so worth it! We were not drunk by any means on any day, but we got our money's worth and then some. We would have a mimosa or bloody mary with breakfast in the dining room or windjammer, beer with our windjammer lunch, 3-4 frozen drinks on the ship after coming back on, cocktails while we changed for dinner, champagne before dinner, wine by the glass during dinner, cordials after dinner and drinks in the casino or Viking Crown Lounge. So worth it!:)

I wrote more and posted it earlier today, but I did want to build your excitement a little!

  2. We had several hours to kill in San Juan before our flight left. We read the shore excursions offered by the ship. The trip we scheduled cost 69. and lasted 4 hours. We were refunded our previously paid transfers, since this trip would drop us at the airport. We scheduled the trip because it spoke of hiking through the rain forest, exploring San Juan's neighborhoods and visiting the 80 foot waterfall.

It was awful. Do Not Book This Tour.

The guide never stopped talking-inane chatter that was uninteresting and lengthy.

The "rain forest" was a dusty walk through the woods. The guide kept saying, "In the spring this happens; In February this is what it looked like." Since it was neither Spring nor February, I didn't understand why they were still running the tour. We walked for twenty minutes while the guide read the informational signs to us. I have had more interesting and in-depth field trips with elementary school classrooms.

The bus broke down because it couldn't go up the hill and have the air conditioning on! The second bus arrived and wouldn't put the AC on. It had tiny, high windows-terribly hot. One older-not elderly- man was faint and could not leave the bus during the second stop at the waterfall that had looked so great in February. The guide actually stood by the trickle of water and showed us cell phone video of the waterfall in February.

The drive through quaint neighborhoods of San Juan turned out to be a 90 minute drive on the main roads-like an expressway or turnpike and thensmaller roads as we climbed the hill to the forest.

I know RC will not stand by the tour for a quality assurance, but no one else should book this misleading tour.

  4. When there were four of us, we used the over the door holder-I bought a clear one the second time. Don't know why it didn't occur to me that a fabric one wouldn't do any good. With three adult women in one cabin, we needed a space for the little things.

Also, I love the collapsible cubes we use on our own small boat, and they were great as extra storage. They function as drawers on the floor of the closet or under the desk. We can have them horizontal stacked on top of one another, too.We ask the steward to take the coffee table and desk chair out. I relax better with a clean space and everything organized.

Now with just the two of us, there is enough storage. We also now know the suitcases fit under the bed and that we do not need one outfit every day and one new dinner outfit every night! That was a huge step forward in having enough room.

  5. I am amazed that our daughters met their sweethearts on two different cruises and cruise lines. Sarah married husband four years after meeting him on Carnival. Abby has been dating her boyfriend of three years after meeting him on a Royal Carribbean cruise. Now, I never believe the cruise director who says, "Have fun; you'll never see these people again.

I am also amazed at the large number of people who seem to try and find things to complain about.

  6. My sister and I cruise together. We took our seats one evening with two other women who smiled tightly at us, barely nodded and went back to speaking solely to each other. Attempts to converse had only one word replies.

Additionally, they kept scooching closer to the wall-they were across from one another Confused, my sister and I talked and admired the boat and the food. During one story, my sister alluded to "Dad". The one lady turned and exclaimed-loudly- "Oh thank goodness you're sisters."

Suddenly, they couldn't be any friendlier. I assume that once they knew we weren't a couple, they were ok sharing a table. They ended up being very judgmental women-about everything. We moved and were much happier with happier people.
