  1. How far is it to walk from Ocean Port 33 dock to the luas line? Is it doable considering it is a commercial port? Thanks for your help.

It took me about 20 minutes. Not a difficult walk. I even did it with my suitcase (on wheels). We were on the Eclipse.

  2. Yes this was my understanding that it's a special offered to non suite guests as it's a full ship charter for the Blue Notes at Sea cruise. I've been on Summit before and dined in Normandie and wish it was still there! Not sure if we'll try Tuscan on Summit although I really enjoyed it on Reflection. Will probably just take advantage of being able to dine in Luminae.

  3. Going on the charter cruise on Summit this Saturday and trying to decide whether to buy the 5 night dining charter package which includes Luminae dining. Is the food worth it. I've read disappointing review on Tuscan so I'm more interested in using the package at Luminae.

  4. Sip & Savor is an event I enjoy and has been on all of my recent cruises. The wines are usually very good and are often ones that I wouldn't probably try myself. The "Savor" is just a bite of some goody. A Pinnacle Grill Crab mini-crab cake usually makes one appearance. Sometimes, it has been held in the Explorer's Lounge; sometime in the Pinnacle Lounge on those ships that have such a venue.

One tiny negative: if one has purchased a beverage card, i.e. $50, $100, $250, that card cannot be used for this event. The Steward will complete a paper bill and have you sign it. Then, the $5 will be charged to your account.

Thanks for the added info about the beverage card. We found the wines very good also.

  5. On a Maasdam Canada cruise 2 years ago there was an event each evening at 5 pm in one of the bars where you could purchase a Sommelier selected wine and it was paired with an H'oeuvre. We will be on Oosterdam June 17 and are hoping it's a standard event on all HAL cruises as we really enjoyed it. Does anyone know?

  6. I know many swear by the 3 day pass but we found for us that buying tokens was the most economical. We took the ferry to St George the first day. You have to be ready to leave the ship ASAP after docking. The ferries get filled up and then they leave before the scheduled time if full.

The next day we went to Hamilton on the fist ferry going there. There really isn't much there. We came back on the ferry that left there around 1:00 or so don't remember the exact time but we also waited about 45 minutes in advance and it was also full. I think many like the festival in the evening but we weren't interested.

The last day we hung around the dock yard and it rained

    happy cruising

I agree. I first bought the 2 day pass but because of the mob of people it took forever to get out of the dockyard so while I was waiting I started to think how I didn't need the pass. I went back to the information center and they credited my 2 passes for the $63. Over the 2 days I spent $45 in tokens so I saved a few bucks.

  7. Even I as a Celebrity lover have to hate the timing. TA's all coming up with no drinks packages already on them being excluded from the 123's and the like.

    ouch. Just.... ouch.

Be glad you're not a Canadian. Our vacations have gone up by 26% because of our lousy dollar. So now for every drink we have it's drink + 18% + 26%,

  8. Eburg, I understand your original question referred to Soda Cards, you may be interested that one can also purchase 'speciality coffee' cards.

If you or the family are like me and have to have a 'latte fix' from time to time. ;) very useful for cafe Carinthia or Sir Samuel's.

Yes a coffee card would be good for me. I saw that on the link HappyBoating posted. The price on the site for 10 12oz coffees is £38.52. I think it must be a mistake though and should be US $ as a Latte is priced at $4.75.

  9. They have a soda and juice card which is about $5.25 plus 15% per day, you need it for every day. That covers soda from the hose plus juices.

That's great, thanks. My daughter will be happy to hear that as she likes her sodas!

  10. I've done a search but can't find any recent information on this question. Does Cunard offer all you can drink non alcoholic drink cards and if so how much? I'm thinking the answer is no as I haven't found any info on the subject.

    Thanks

  11. Thank you all so much! I've printed out the maps and the address of the hotel - I even found the address written in French and printed that out too. I'll be taking my first Greyhound bus ride since college (and that was a loooooong time ago LOL!) I really appreciate all the advice from the forum! I'm getting super-excited. I have visited Montreal before (but never by bus and never alone), and will again, but this time I will have to arrive the evening before the cruise. This is my first time doing it all solo... hmmm I might start a thread about THAT! Thanks again everyone!

Don't worry about language. I've lived in Montreal my whole life and don't speak French. By law you will be served in stores and restaurants in French. Just reply in English and you'll be spoken back to in English.

  12. I agree with MICHED. I just got off the Summit Oct 26. I was in Aqua Class and used the Persian Gardens exactly once. I was very disappointed. I found it very dark and dungeon like and I also didn't find the steam room all that hot. Dining in Blu however was fantastic.
