  1. Loving your review and re-living our cruise!

We ate in the MDR every night, late seating. We were seated with two other families of three: Mom, Dad, 21yo son, Mom and 21yo twin son and daughter, me and my two. We had a great week at dinnertime. Our waitstaff was Lalu, Gusti, and Luka. They provided wonderful service, and entertained us as well. As for slow service, not a problem for us-- we were finished each night by 9:15 or 9:30p, because we always had time to make it to the Punchliner for the late night comedy.

After the first night, my iced tea was always poured, and those of us who loved coffee afterwards always had it without asking.

We did not have any complaints about the food--there was always something we loved. Most of the table had their second plates of lobster without even asking. My 19yo skinny daughter ate whatever they brought her, especially the WCMC which she had each night.

Loving your pics of sunny HMC and St Thomas. HMC was cloudy and cool for us, and St Thomas was getting their first rain in two months. We still had fun!

Can't wait to see the rest!

  2. Not a big drinker, but tried the Cheers program on the recent 3/2/13 Victory. It was awesome! I was with my son (26) and a daughter (19). Son and I purchased the program on embarkation day, at a table on the Lido Deck. The Carnival guy wanted to put the purchases all on one card, but I just said "no". We each had our S&S cards linked to our individual credit cards, and he did two separate transactions with no problem.

I don't think I got too close to the 15 drinks during any day, but I sure had a lot of fun trying out different drinks that I normally wouldn't have purchased.

If you are ever on the Victory, the Alchemy Bar and staff is awesome!

I figure that with most of the drinks about $7-8, I broke even by drink number 6.

  3. "Prior to this cruise, we had 22 days at sea. Since this was a 7 day cruise, it would bump us up over the 25 days required to be gold. When the program rolled out, John Heald had mentioned that if a cruise would move you up to the next level, then you would receive the benefits starting at the beginning of the cruise. When I printed our boarding passes, they said gold, so that was a good sign!"

I am currently a 22-day VIFP, too! So I should be gold on this 7-day cruise as well!

    Thanks!

  4. If you are only going to be drinking 3 or 4 drinks a day then the program will cost you more than just purchasing the drinks.

I'm a morning Bloody Mary drinker also and didn't discover (and wasn't told) that during the morning Bloody Mary drink special you can get a double and it's still under the $10 limit so it works with the Cheers program.

I had taken literally that you couldn't get doubles, but that's only if the double price exceeds the $10 limit.

Also, order the best quality liquor that you can. My sister drinks scotch and water and normally just orders the well scotch which is Dewer's. But under the Cheers program she started asking for the Johnny Walker Black which she thinks is a much better scotch.

On the cruises I've taken, I normally don't have a Bloody Mary in the morning, or more than one drink during the day, because I like to drink a little more in the evening, and frankly, I would prefer to spend my money on something more tangible, like jewelry!

I think the Cheers program will benefit me because I can have a drink when I want it throughout the day--I figure with the price of the drinks I normally have in the evening, I will break even at about drink 6 or 7. I am not usually a big drinker, but on vacation, with someone else driving, and spreading my drinks throughout the day if I want...I think I will enjoy myself! And I have not been "drunk" in many, many years!

Hmmm...the Cheers program may help me get a little more "happy", though.

So....I can ask for Grey Goose?? Yay me.

  5. So how does the Cheers program work on the day of boarding? Or would it be just as good to start the drink deal the second day of the cruise (especially for me since my second day is HMC!) I'm not a big drinker, but this would allow me to have a Bloody Mary at breakfast, and a beer on deck without worrying about how much I'm spending.

Thanks so much for all this info!

  6. If I could do it all over again...go for it! I wanted to be a travelling RN before family responsibilities came along. Do Critical Care nursing in an ICU or ED, preferably a Level I Trauma Center so you'll see and learn alot. Get every certification you can.

You will have to be comfortable dealing with every situation from a simple cold to unexpected traumas or sudden-death situations, where your actions will be critical.

Best of luck! It has been a wonderful career choice for me, and my salary and time off has allowed me to cruise!
