Well to be fair i was on crown in alaska for 21 days late may til mid june...heard very little coughing and i never got sick and don't think many did that i was aware of....maybe luck of the draw as i have sure gotten lots of colds over the years on various cruises.

Thank I have been on 20 cruises without getting sick our last one in September we did all come home sick. We are going to have a good time on this trip and hopefully we will are stay health.

Try to keep it brief.  Loved the ship (other than the tacky shower curtain) . Hollywood Conservatory was great.  Pool was heated.  Great viewing but always busy.

Ate in dining room every night.  Only couple of nights was it just ok. The rest of time loved it. Had same waiters and table for  14 days. The service was impeccable. If there is something you would like instead of what is on the menu just ask and they will accommodate if they can.

Did lots of excursions. Seen lots of whales, otters, seals, eagles but we did not see any bears.  Did the 6.5 hours wildlife/glacier excusion in Anchorage/Whittier and it was great. .

Only down side of whole cruise there was a lot of colds, coughing,  .  Elevators were packed at busy times. Very few wearing masks. People we talked to after cruise some got covid some just a virus some bronchical.  Our cruise was sold out and being 14 days bound to catch something which we did on the last day.

Our first cruise to Alaska was 7 days straight up 20 years ago and wanted to do it again and glad we did.  Just a work of advice people looking to go to Alaska.  Glacier Bay and College Fiord are a must see.  Only doing the inside passage is ok but just not the same.

Thanks for being upfront about the sickness what I wanted to know but not looking forward to that.

Does anyone know why this show is SO much more expensive through the cruise line than directly?  Directly it is $37 but NCL wants about $78.  They also show that the tour is 2.5 hours when the show is 1 hr and a five minute walk from the dock.  I’ve checked the other lines and they are charging a reasonable markup (less than or equal to $50) and showing a duration of 1.25-1.5 hours.

I called the shore excursion desk to ask whether perhaps more was included such as a shuttle that drives through town with a short city tour, but she said it looked like it was just the show.  She couldn’t explain why it says 2.5 hrs. Has anyone done this through NCL that can confirm whether this truly is just the show?  In the meantime I just cancelled because it seemed crazy to end up paying more even with the $50 shore excursion credit.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your input. Sounds reasonable. HAL web site suggests higher recommendations. I like yours better, unless of course we get exceptional service, then we graciously offer more.

I loved HAL enjoy your cruise. they are so caring and they have a great laundry service a flat rate for washing all your clothes for a week  if was $(50.00 dollars a few year ago) you can send stuff everyday it was great.

Unfortunately, they are still charging people the $10, even with the beverage packages. I was just charged for my Medallion and Princess sent me a refund request form to be completed (takes 4-6 weeks); I might just wait in line at guest services when I sail in a couple weeks to request a refund.

i think with the money we all have in this trip and being you need them they would just sent them to us.

  6. when you go on the princess app to fill out your paperwork it tells you your are in the blue lane.

this is just the status of your process of filling out your paperwork.

I found I filled everything out but was still in the blue lane, you have to do all the medallions to get into the green lane.

I heard there are lines once you get to the port to get you medallions that you need before you go through security.  I paid $10 to have them sent to me, when I was talking to princess she did ask me if we had got the beverage package (which we had not) it would be free to ship.    hope this clears up some

of the questions about the blue and green lanes.

We are platinum with Princess and are looking to do Alaska in 2025. We are also weighing our options as to Princess or HAL. Both lines have been doing Alaska longer than others so we are not concerned with which one has more experience. They are both very experienced in Alaska. Even though we are loyal to Princess we are leaning towards HAL. The reason for us comes down to ship size and cabin size. HAL ships are 1000 passengers smaller and their standard veranda cabins are larger. With Princess you must go with a deluxe balcony, on those ships that offer them, if you want a small sofa to sit on. And the newer Princess ships have very small standard balconies. HAL can’t seem to get rid of the moniker that the ships are for old people. I believe you will find that both lines have similar demographics. Of course now that I’m 70+ maybe I don’t notice the old people. 😂😂

I have done both, I picked princess for the Itinerary this trip.  I loved Hal for 50 dollars unlimited wash they washed all my clothes after 4 day on land then everyday i sent clothes it was great!  i was in my late 50's.

Been receiving emails this week saying our dining MDR  reservations are being changed to a different time, same place however only by 10 mins most nights?. Not sure what the point of this is . Also says and my  tablemates instead of tablemate ? as  I have reserved for just the 2 of us on the app every night for a table for 2. ?

oh wow I'll have to watch for that! it would be disappointing when you go the the trouble of making your reservations and then they changed on you.

I'm pretty sure Royal Caribbean doesn't allow bottled water, but I think they do allow soft drink.  I would print the cruise line policy, follow it, and present the print out  if there are any issues.

I do know Carnival doesn't allow bottled water (but does allow canned or boxed drinks) and I think the security is the same for both Grandeur and Pride.

RC you can that 2 12 packs of water per cabin it's on there website.  carnival is also aloud water and soda the water on is affordable we order it on line and its deliver to the cabin.

  10. I'm look for a catamaran tour that you can swim off the boat not snorkel.

on one of our trips we did a catamaran tour and they served us drinks in the water we could swim to the beach if we liked.

i'm thinking that it was in st. Lucia    it was a great trip.
