  1. The OP is renting a car so they can go any place they choose.

For a beach, the Kamaole Beach Parks (Kam I, II and III) are fine, but they asked about snorkeling too. Black Rock and Electric Beach, not to mention Kapalua, Napili and Honolua, are all in West Maui and much better for snorkeling, and the West has many fine beaches just for chilling too.

I also would NOT get a convertible. Showers happen quickly, the sun is more intense than you imagine and when you are on the highway you have to shout at each other to be heard.

Click on the hyperlink for info on Maui snorkeling.

LOL! - DH also says "ixnay" on the convertible! His bald head couldn't take it![emoji23]

Thanks for all the other great info![emoji1303]

  2. Boy! Thanks everyone for the quick informative replies[emoji5]

Yes we are on the Jewel, docking overnight in Kahului, Oct. 11/12.

So many beautiful choices! The Mustang has been considered, too![emoji6]

  3. Renting a car for a day in Maui. Any suggestions which area would be better for an easy beach day, with maybe, some snorkelling, and a bite to eat?

    Appreciate any info.

    Mahalo!

  4. Thanks scottaca075 . I was wondering about that, but it has good reviews on TA.....We do have a hotel room booked there, post cruise, for three nights. No cancellation fees, so will rethink it.

    Anyone else have any input?

  5. DH and I will be heading there in a few weeks. Were told the only repellent that works on those mysterious "no-see-ums", and sand flies, is Watkins 30% Deet-(And that's not from a Watkins dealer, trying to sell to us). We've loaded up on it-both the spray, and the lotion. Sure hope it does the trick!

  6. We did a jeep tour last April. It took all day but it was fantastic. I can't remember the company we went with, but if your interested I'll try to find it again!

Would you plse? First time in Coz.Thnx

  7. Fairex11, where on tripadvisor is the review? Thanks Tbone.

Category is "Activities in Belize", #23 0f 71, "Coral Breeze Tours"

The majority of the reviews, there, are pretty good, and from this season, so maybe things have improved

  8. I still haven't booked for next month because I am so on the fence about Coral Breeze.

I saw this company- they are the same people who run the water taxi. Did you book ahead of time? On their website the price is $60??

Me too, on the fence about this. There is a good review of Coral Breeze, on Trip Advisor, just posted to-day.....

  9. No, that does not sound good. What does sound good is the tour itself- Shark\ Ray Alley,Coral Gardens, and an observer rate for non-snorkeling DH. Hmmm....Any other suggestions for tour companies to Caye Caulker?

  10. I'm confused about it being "private". If there are just two of us, will we be paired up with another couple? Is it more than just one jeep? We have seen the other tours where there is a convoy of jeeps. Would like to go with others, but this "private" one has the best reviews, with the better price.

  11. So great hearing all the info on this new port. And, in our case Tranquility Bay. We are thinking to book there in Feb.

Or, maybe a snorkeling excursion. But, I have repeatedly read about the rough waters, going into Trujillo. Makes me wonder....Any info on the snorkeling around there?
