  1. Fred and I did Machu Pichu on our own, and Iguazu Falls, but this year he is 90 and I felt more secure going with a group, just in case. He is in great shape, but I am the luggage carrier and problem solver for our little team, so I choose to do the land trips this time with Regent. I did worry a lot when we were doing land trips on our own - late planes, bad weather and the like. This way, if there is a problem, Regent is behind me!

  2. Love white pants, and love the black crepe de chine I often wear with separates at dinner, but in truth, the only time destination temperature enters into the discussion is the deck buffet every 2 weeks, otherwise it is the ambient temperature in whichever dining venue you are for the evening. I always found the Compass Rose FREEZING! The Sete Mare is warmer and Prime 7/Signatures is the warmest, bordering on comfortable. I leave my main bling in the safe at the bank and bring fun stuff. I always freeze so this time I am bringing some St. John knit suits! But do bring at least 2 sun dresses, that way you have one for the deck dinner buffet and one if the weather is really fine and you get a Sete Mare table on the back deck. Have fun!

  3. We had a similar decision to make - but nothing was offered free to us! It was all quite dear actually. We will visit Angkor Wat with Regent. The traffic in that part of the world is quite dense and I was concerned about getting back to the ship in time. My husband worked in India and had no interest in seeing the Taj AGAIN, so he will stay on board. Since the Taj is on my bucket list, I will go alone - with Regent. Problem solved.

  4. All these posts make fascinating reading! Living in Europe, we don't have things like extra bedrooms to stage clothing. I usually lay things out on the living room U shaped sofa. I have to be prudent with what I bring since flying has become so difficult. Even though I've arranged to ship 2 extra suitcases, we will be traveling for 4 months with climates ranging from the heat of the equator to penguin friendly cool! My husband is happy to throw 2 kakis, 2 t's, a shirt, a tie, and a suit in a bag and that's it. Then the argument begins, which I usually win with my best exit line "I'm not spending my cruise in the laundry room washing your clothes"! I am excited about our adventure, but terrified about the packing!
