  1. Hi again  thanks again  for all comments,  just an update. 

    We got all taxes, fees and drink packages refunded by RCI and got a payment from my travel insurance enough to cover the cancelled part of cruise but only a small fraction of cost of the late flights home, (but I had to get home and dont regret my decision)I am glad I wasn't successful in the royal upgrade bid as I would have lost that too. For information,  I know  the rules are different in different countries but I did have to pay for my father's dr to complete a form fro insurance answering various questions .

    We also got annual leave cancelled and now going away again next month on celebrity

  2. When  on silhouette in February we enjoyed breakfast (the small bagels were lovely) in Tuscan restaurant most mornings is this still available,  we are on edge soon and looking at the list of captains club perks but didn't see it listed

  3. we have received full refund for taxes port fees back via TA

    Got full refund for drinks package on to my credit card that i paid them seprately

    still waiting on insurance due to covid they are busy and they are prioritising 

    we only claimed for the 2 big things, flights home at last minute and cruise, so many other things we could have claimed for but i will be happy if they pay that

We tried several times to cancel but not easy in early hours of a Sunday, we did leave many messages to relay, as I don't like to no show even called  my daughter and travel agent back home to pass on.i couldn't have done any more in the time we had. Not pre existing illness,  very sudden I had just downloaded 3 books the day before we left but I know how insurance companies try to riggle out

  5. we arrived in barcelona for a cruise the following day, in the early hours of day of cruise i got a call from home to inform me my father died suddenly, obviously i couldn't go on the cruise, we searched and got flights home.

    i understand that there is no refund of cruise fare at that late stage but can i get back the prepaid gratuities and deluxe drink package we purchased, thanks for any advice

I havnt sailed with RCI since covid but did do a celebrity earlier this year and noticed the big difference to embarking and check in, so easy on the ship in no time up to cabin to collect seapass card and return when we were ready and room ready. Go to assembly station to complete muster which we started on an app, what an improvement, is Rc similar. Any other big differences

I am diamond plus with RCI but decided to give celebrity a try for our anniversary any tips ,I understand I will get elite status with captains club do I have to inform them in advance my c&a no. What benefits is available where is the nightly cocktail hour and exclusive breakfast,  we opted for concierge class  was that good choice any help appreciated 

  8. just came back from a b2b on NoS first week in labadee second week the captain had to make the decision to cancel. I was at guest relations querying a small mistake on my account, whilst waiting the amount of people complaining and demanding compensation or that we go to another port (ports are booked well in advance) on one occasion I couldn't hold my tongue and said 'would you rather we took the chance and got shot: I was speaking to a senior officer who explained about the FoS the previous day, he went onto mention the abuse that waiters in the windjammer were getting and had to call security. SHAMEFULL. The captain had to make sure the safety of all passengers, it was a difficult decision. no one loves Labadee more than me but I want to assured safety on my cruise in this often dangerous world

  10. I sympathise with you. we love to cruise but need 2 flights to most ports (north of scotland) and half of the cost is air fare so cheaper to book b2b. we spend more time researching flight options than we do researching cruises. good luck
