You can make all your dining reservations pre-cruise if you pay full price. However, as part of getting a substantial break on the price on the dining package, you have to "fill-in" slots left open by the pre-cruise bookers.
My experience on EOS in Sept. was we bought the 5 night package for an 8:00 seating and had 8:00 every night, but they picked where you were going each night. We LOVED it! :D

Wow, you guys!
Thank you for all these posts. I now have lots of homework to make a plan!
We leave in a few days so I will be looking at all these options.
You're all great! Thanks

Welcome to Cruise Critic and Have a Great Cruise!
You will also find a lot of<script id="gpt-impl-0.7197580758972053" src="http://partner.googleadservices.com/gpt/pubads_impl_100.js"></script> information in the Canada/New England Ports of Call section: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20
When I did the Canada/New England I did ship excursions --
Portland, Maine: the Mt. Washington and Cog Train. Had time after tour to explore Portland.
Bar Harbor: Best of Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. We had a great day so were able to get up to the top. After walked about and explored Bar Harbor.
Saint John, NB: as wanted to explore Saint John, did the St. John highlight tour.
Halifax: Peggy's Cove and Lobster Lunch with lots of time to explore Halifax. A nice garden to explore, Alexander Keith's Brewery, the Citadel and as Plowboy mentioned -- enjoy a Beaver Tail!
Boston: follow the Freedom Trail, taking time out to detour/explore while you do. Faneuill Market, the Aquarium, USS Constitution, etc.
Hey Catherine, remember us? Nutz 4 we had a great time! Jeff & Raelynn

Portland is very walkable, lots of shops and restaurants and Shipyard Brewery a couple blocks from the ship, they have a nice tour. Bar Harbor also very walkable and has Ollie's Trolley just off the tender dock, you can purchase different tours. St. John has a nice horse drawn carriage ride, they line up near the dock and carry about 15 people and are quite reasonable. The parks and market in SJ are also cool and a short (6 block) walk. Halifax has a nice boardwalk with shops, restaurants and the Titanic Museum at the end, lots to see and do, but don't forget to try a Beaver Tail! The RCL excursions are very nice also but not necessary. Hope this helps. :)

Nice review! We were on EOS the week before you, same exact ports. I agree with everything in your review, except we did specialty dinning every night and the food was wonderful! Our cruise was one of the best we've done! :D

Now this is funny, a couple years ago everyone was booking excursions I couldn't see! Turned out my IE was obsolete and I could see and book them when I used Chrome! :D:confused:

Hi Plowboy920 - I am curious...If Central Park 150 was your second best dinner you had on a ship, what was your "All-Time #1 Dinner on a Ship?"
Inquiring minds want to know!
The Chef's Table!! Same ship same week! No choices on the menu (unless you had an allergy or can't eat a particular spice). The wine pairings were awesome, the service was great, but it did take 3 hours so don't book a show the night you decide to go there! Jeff

Yep thats the one! It was the first itinerary. I think they had two. The camera is a Nikon D40. I love it! I dont even think they make it anymore. I will be taking it on every cruise from now on. The only thing I dont care for is that it does not take video. So we have our Muvi HD camera for that.
Thank You for your response! That was an awesome cruise. My wife has a Nikon D50 which went on every cruise until she upgraded to the D5300 with video capability :D
-
So give it up! What is your good camera? Very nice pictures! Only looked because I'm sure we were on this cruise Sept 26 JOS? :D
-
I see the pre-cruise prices at $45 without wine pairing and $89 with. Are the prices the same onboard or are they higher?
That seems pretty reasonable, I would book but wait for the experts to answer ;)

When we went to 150 CP on Oasis in Jan. We could choose from anything on the menu, things must have changed. The wine list is completely different than any wine list on the ship (quite pricey). When I questioned this we were told 150 is not run by RCI is leased out to a private company? But it was the second best dinner we've had on a ship! :D Enjoy

I'm great! How about you? :)
Feeling good if we get the JS for this price! Thanks again for the great tour in Monterey!

I booked B2B December 2017 Adventure cruises last night. Deposit paid. Junior Suites.
Price per person was $818 each.
They BETTER NOT try to cancel that!
We booked the same cruise for Jan. 2018 same price! JS $1600 for both of us after taxes & C&A discount! How've you been Carol?
-
According to our roll call on Oasis it will automatically be put on our sea pass card. No matter when you booked. Starts Nov 1.
Thank You that's the way I read it as well!

I'll ask here first before I call RCI, Is the new neighborhood balcony offer with the free lunch and free beverage given to all passengers sailing on or after November 2016 in a CPB or BWB? We have Allure booked within the timeframe, just wondering if I need to cancel and rebook (price is the same or maybe a little less) to get this offer? Thanks in advance!:D

Embassy Suites on 17th. Two hours of free drinks in the evening, free cooked to order breakfast. They have shuttles to the port with each ship's name on signs in the lobby. We loved it in December and are going back in May.
I was waiting to see Embassy Suites, they have a cruise package that includes transfers from airport and to the pier. Also if you grab a larger suite you may get the eight of you in 1 suite. The drinks might not be as important with 6 kids but the breakfast would be!

I know this is crazy, but we booked specialty dinning, every night on Oasis. I am prepared to tip the waiters every night! My question is do my prepaid gratuities go to the three waiters in the MDR who we will never see? Do the gratuities get split with the specialty dinning waiters? Or should I try to cancel the prepaid, and tip the cabin steward in cash? Thanks in advance! :D:confused:

I have an RCL agent that works great! If I put a courtesy hold on a reservation he takes care of everything the next day. Your "my cruise" on the website will say contact your TA for changes but you can book anything, make payments or cancel the cruise yourself. I just e-mailed him saying I saw a price drop and the next day had 2 e-mails, 1 saying "hello great to here from you" the 2nd was our updated invoice, saved $100. :D

I bought a wine package on board jewel in Los Angeles in Sept., they wrote it up on paper and charged it when we left port. :)
-
I am curious, for your cruise in March, when did the all access tour become available to book? We will be on Allure next October and I really want to get this for my Father. I assume it sells out fast?
About the same time entertainment was available to book. Guessing just after final payment date on Oasis for us. :)
-
Have it Booked for Jan. 9th sailing. :D
-
Cameras allowed. Still photos only...no video.
Thanks! :D
-
Does anyone know if you can bring a camera on the tour? Guessing "No"
Thank you Royal Caribbean for Channel 23

Thank You Bill! Sailed with you on JOS 2015 saw the exact same thread all week on Allure last week and on EOS in Sept 2016 they really need a LITTLE selection?
