  1. I wanted to make sure I understood this correctly - If you have the Premium Beverage Package and you order something over the $13 limit, you just pay the difference. However, if you have the Classic Beverage Package and you order something over the $9 limit, you have to pay the entire cost of the more expensive drink? Can someone confirm this please?

  2. We are on the Equinox sailing 3/10. We stop in Costa Maya, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. I've only been to Cozumel. We are hoping to do some quiet beach relaxation and swim with the dolphins. I have a couple questions:

    1) Which port is best to do the dolphins in? Or, would you choose the port with the least beach possibilities?

    2) Looking at Yaya Beach in Costa Maya and Nachi Cocom in Cozumel - any thoughts as to the service/atmosphere of these beaches?

    3) Any recommendations from those that have been to these beaches for something quiet, not too crowded, and clean bathrooms? Close to the ship is also nice but not as important.

  3. Our ship disembarks early AM in Whittier and we've decided to rent a car with an 8PM drop off at the Anchorage airport.

Looking for ideas and suggestions on how to fill the day and what not to miss as we make our way to Anchorage. It will myself, my husband and our 21 year old daughter.

So far in Juneau my husband is doing the photo safari/whale watching while my daughter does the helicopter to the glacier for dog sledding. In Ketchikan we are all doing the sea plane to Misty Fjord and in Skagway we are doing the White Pass train ride.

This is our first cruise to Alaska. My husband is always looking for great photo ops, I'd like to get some history/culture and we are all interested in the nature and wildlife. Thank you all for your help :)

  4. Prince William Sound is not necessarily the priority. If we do this tour, it is through Princess and includes transfer to the airport.

This is our first time to Alaska - it will be myself, husband and 21 year old daughter. We just want to make the most of the day and are open to suggestions. We could go first thing to Anchorage and tour from there as well.

Thankful for any ideas! Will look into the car possibility too - thanks slix1!

  5. We are booked on the Island Pricess Vancouver to Whittier. We will arrive in Whittier at 12AM on August 6th.

I know we won't disembark until morning but we are looking at the 26 Glacier Cruise which doesn't start until 12 noon - any ideas on what we might be able to do/see while we are waiting for this excursion?

The other option is to take the Portage Glacier excursion which leaves at 8:45 with drop off in Anchorage at 2:15PM leaving us some time to see Anchorage before we head to the airport?

We have a 10PM flight out of Anchorage so we are open to any ideas for activities in Whittier or Anchorage - Thank you!

  6. We are looking at northbound Vancouver to Whittier on the Island Princess with a July 30th departure. This will be our first Alaskan cruise and our first time on Princess!!

Looking at C218 - forward mini suite on port side with covered balcony and C717 - aft mini suite on starboard side with a partially covered balcony. Any thoughts or insights on either of these cabins?

Is there a real advantage to a covered balcony as far as the weather? What about starboard vs. port? Which should be considered first - balcony coverage or ship side?

    Thank you for any help!!

  7. We just returned from the Allure western and a day with Gerry in Cozumel.

We met Gerry at the Taxi area after we got off the ship - he was there a few minutes early with a sign and meeting up with him was very easy.

He then got the air conditioned van (we were a party of 6) and we were off. I had given Eduardo, who coordinates for Gerry, a list of things we wanted to do and Gerry had that with him. We started with shopping, getting some drinks and driving around the town. Gerry was very patient while we shopped and knew so much about the island and it's history. We immediately felt comfortable with him.

From there we went to the San Gervasio ruins. We chose to spend the $18 for a guided tour of the ruins (in addition to the entrance fee). This was a great choice as we never would have gained as much on our own. Gerry waited for us and again was very accomodating to whatever time we wanted to spend at the ruins.

Next is was off to the other side of the island. Gerry had seen that one of our girls was enjoying all the iguana's so we stopped by a place where each of the girls could hold a very large iguan and have their picture taken for $1. They loved this. After the iguana photo session, the guy brought out a huge bull to see if we wanted picture on him - we passed!

We stopped at Coconuts for some pictures and then went to lunch at Playa Bonita - it was great! Awesome food, beautiful views and margarita's that will knock your socks off! We continued on to El Mirador and Punta Sur - beautiful!

Gerry then took us to Playa Planacar Beach - the girls were able to snorkel and swim and again, Gerry just gave us the time we wanted.

Our five hour tour with Gerry turned into a seven hour tour - he never watched the clock or made us feel rushed. The extra stop at the beach was his recommendation - and the girls loved it. On our way back to the ship, he sang for us and it was a great time!

Overall, we had a great day with Gerry and he couldn't have been a nicer guy and tourguide. I highly recommend him and will plan to use him again if our travels bring us back to Cozumel.

  8. For those of you that have used Gerry - did you tip him in addition to the cost of the tour? If so, how much? Is it a percentage? We will be using the van and are thinkgin we may be 4 - 5 hours??

    Thanks!
