Does the view on the Virtual Balcony change, or is it fixed?
It is live from a high definition camera, so the view is what you would be seeing real time from looking outside the ship, if you were standing on a real balcony.

anyone remember\know who was on the Oasis in mid august 2010? It was a british guy in his 30's (probably), but can not remember his name...
Had to be Richard Spacey most likely. Don't know about mid August 2010 but he was on the late September 2011 Oasis cruise - very funny and many people think he's one of the best.

I had Richard Spacey once and I thought he was fabulous. Wondering who are others that people enjoy and why.
I really enjoyed Richard Spacey too, he was the CD on our first Oasis cruise and that was also our first cruise ever. He really added to the whole experience and I thought he was very funny.

For some reason, every time I have cruised, "Elvis" has been on the ship. I just can't believe that people feel the need to dress and act like him any more.
On the January 28 Oasis sailing some group had booked some kind of Elvis thing and there was a guy dressed as Elvis in the boarding area and then I saw him around the ship several times, including at the 70's Disco Party. This guy handed out some pamphlet for some shows this group was having in various lounges on the ship that you could pay for and attend. I was worried I had somehow booked myself onto some crazy Elvis themed cruise I did not know about, but fortunately other than a few "Elvis sightings" around the ship I guess this group confined themselves to their shows. Their pamphlet was titled "Cruising with the King" and handed out to us around noon while we were waiting to board the ship!

Great thread! I do notice this entry:
Oasis OTS - Capt Thore Thorolvsen (started rotation 12-24-11?)
All I know is that Capt Thorolvsen was on the Oasis during the September 24 - October 1, 2011 cruise, so not sure when he started his rotation but it had to be before 12/24/11.

Thanks very much for your detailed review, and also your comments on Amy, the cruise director. I'm encouraged by them, and we'll see how she is in less than 3 weeks as we're on the January 28 Eastern Caribbean cruise on Oasis!

Thanks for posting. Your post of Day 1 was very accurate from my experience on a cruise on Oasis in September of 2011. We enjoyed it greatly and are going back again at the end of January. Particularly interested in how the new cruise director Amy is working out - as they changed cruise directors since we've been on the ship. Will look forward to your daily reviews. We had a Central Park View room on Deck 9 (just room with a window) but otherwise it was laid out pretty much as the room you had. This time we have a Boardwalk Balcony room so that will be interesting, also on Deck 9, closer to the elevator end rather then the Aqua Pool end.
I also noticed at the smaller nightclubs, it was very easy to get "volunteered" for something you did not necessarily want to do unless you hid way back in the crowd! I'm not one for really wanting to get up on the stage to do crazy things, but will have to admit it sort of was fun, but was a very reluctant volunteer for sure! I know they are just trying to see that everyone has a fun time though!
I'll post Day 2 tomorrow...and after work today can answer any questions!

As you say to each their own but I have to agree with you about the annoying phrase and over-the-top... I only have taken 3 cruises to date but of the 3 she is at the bottom of the cruise directors. She was on my 2nd Oasis cruise in January 2012...
