  1. I know, I know this has been discussed a ton, but honestly I come on here all the time and haven't seen any questions about this. So, here are my specific questions:

With WiFi pretty much being everywhere now-a-days and usually for free, have cruise lines jumped aboard and can you access WiFi for free on the ships?

I want to use my phone to take pictures(probably a lot) do I have to worry about incurring any charges with my phone being on?

Is airplane mode a safe bet?

When or where is a good place to check emails?(We are doing the Western Caribbean trip)

Any other phone tips that are helpful, I'd appreciate it.

It's about time there was a phone thread again. :D

I had an android on my cruise. I Now have an iPhone but it all works the same...

When the ship is docked in your start/end port (NYC in my case) you can still get a signal. However once you sail out, you will lose it. When this happens, in order from being charged for roaming, activate airplane mode. This turns off the part of the phone that allows you to text, call, etc. since you are leaving the country, you won't be able to access the cell towers so it's much more expensive. You can still use your phone, but cannot access internet unless you have wifi. You can take as many pictures as you want on AP mode. Excluding apps that require Internet, your phone works like normal

    Now for wifi..

I can only speak for the Breakaway but you can buy Internet packages. You select how much data you wanna use and pay a flat rate. Once you use all of that amount, you must buy another if you want more access. I used it a few times, but when i didn't use it I didn't necessarily miss my internet. They have an Internet cafe but I never used it.

Oh and one more thing, you can get wifi at a Starbucks, souvenir shop, etc. Some places are free, some make you pay a minimal fee. It all depends

Sorry for a lengthy post, I hope I explained it well!

  2. At first, I thought the OP was asking about when Spring Break is. But, after reading it a few times, I think he is asking about taking another cruise - and it happens to be for HIS week of Spring Break.

So, if that is the question, then...

What did you like and not like about the last cruise.

Would you do the same one again

Where do you live - meaning is air an issue or are you only going to do one city

Do you want new ports, or does it not matter

Before anybody can even GUESS what you might like, they would need to know a bit more.

Sorry I should have been more clear! But to answer your questions...

    1. The only thing I did not like about the last one was boarding at New York. Don't know if it's cause I was new to everything or if it happens to everyone. Not much to complain about the BA!

    2. Yes I would but the bermuda cruise I went on in Aug is not offered during our open date

    3. I live in South Carolina. We made NYC work with air so it won't be an issue.

    4. Ports are important but I think the ship is just as important. I'm not real picky- usually pretty easy to please

  3. Wow. What an amazing cruise. Don't know where to begin. Awesome ship. Awesome crew. Weather was great (except for Thursday). Great food. Impressed with room. All around great week. Impressed with NCL and the Breakaway. 5/5 stars!

Still debating if I should write up a little review but I will answer any questions y'all have. Reply and I will do my best. Thanks!

  4. We had the best snorkeling at Horseshoe in the little cove - big parrotfish, needlefish and many others but get there early! We were on the first bus from Dockyards at 8:20 and there was no one there. By the time we left at 3 it was wall to wall people.

For swimming, the best we've experienced in 3 trips is absolutely Clearwater Beach. It's a bit of a hike (ferry to St. George and then #6 bus) but it's never crowded and the water is beautiful.

The first 2 pictures are Horseshoe's cove and the second 2 are Clearwater.

    Wow. Absolutely amazing.

  5. Thanks for the info! Counting down the days! And with the food, you (not you in particular VickiD59 but "you" as a general term) are on a CRUISE SHIP. No need to complain about food when there's more than you possibly need!! I think it's silly to complain about food if you're lucky enough to be able to afford a cruise.

But anyway, I do have a real question: so they can open up the balcony dividers? Other family members will be staying next to us,but it's not a connecting room. Not a huge deal , but just wondering

  6. I have a flight and I heard getting a taxi after customs is insane so I just want to be sure I will have enough time between getting off and getting to the airport. Might just do the color coded baggage claim, really don't feel like carrying all of the luggage!

  7. Have a great time and don't forget to stop back and tell us all about it. I have 24 more days to go!

As much as I love those nice, detailed, picture filled trip reviews, I don't have the patience for that but I will report what I liked/disliked
