Thanks for reposting this information.  This change over is a pain.  Hopefully it will prove to be worth it.

Just booked this cruise for May 2019. Thanks for posting all those cruise compasses. It gives me some ideas of what is available since this will be our first cruise with RCL. We did Alaska on Princess last May.

Temsco was the subcontractor for this excursion, and we saved a lot booking directly with them. When I called their offices, they recommended booking in Skagway, not Juneau since the weather tends to be a bit more stable there. Also, they recommend booking earlier in the day since they’ll try to add you later if the weather clears and they have room. But safety is the most important priority, and this may get cancelled. It’s amazing if you can go. We were able to easily walk to the temsco office from where we docked on the coral princess.

 

Another excursion we thought was interesting was the Bering sea tour, which teaches you all about crab fishing.

Juneau tours were cancelled due to weather on the 5/12/18 Ruby Princess cruise but the weather was unbelievably glorious from Skagway and this excursion was the highlight of our cruise. We spent 26 plus years showing Chows in AKC shows and are truly dog people to the core. It was worth every penny and I only wish we could have stayed longer to help with kennel chores. We booked directly with Temso and saved a little but would gladly do it again.

Does anyone have any information on this room. We were told we were obstructed from obstructed view to this room. It looks like there is a outer deck outside the room. Any info would be appreciated.

Hopefully we will meet up during the cruise. Kolada was our kennel name when we bred AKC registered chows.

If you booked around the same time as when you first posted on the Roll Call, it looks like the OF was selling for $1299 and the OZ was selling for $999 (in November). Depending on whether you booked under a special promotion or if your TA gave you any discount or other perks, you could ask them to contact Princess on your behalf and request OBC for the downgrade. You must go through your online travel site, you cannot do this directly.

The cabins in question are apparently the 10 cabins farthest forward on Emerald deck, E101 - E119. They are Ocean View cabins with no fixed physical obstruction. However, there can be walkers and joggers outside of the cabin windows as the extension of the Promenade deck at the bow is one deck up on Emerald deck. That was the apparent reason for the downgrade from Cat OF the Cat OZ for these 10 cabins.

 

I did a quick check of pricing:

 

For a 7 day Alaskan cruise the difference was

 

OF - $1,449

OZ - $1,099

 

For a 5 day Coastal Repo cruise the difference was

 

OF - $649

OZ - $599

 

For a 1 day Repo cruise the difference was

 

OF - $109

OZ - $99

 

I would think you should be due a refund of the price difference.

Okay. I understand now. My apologies. If the prices are currently lower on the new category I would certainly ask about the difference in price. However, have you made final payment? Did you book directly with Princess or use a travel agent?

Oceanview category is sold out. Yes, paid in full. Booked thru online travel site.

Is your OF considered obstructed?

OF class was not obstructed. OZ is obstructed. Email says

STATEROOM RECATEGORIZATION - OF TO OZ

Please be advised that your currently booked cabin in category OF has been changed to category OZ due to its proximity to a nearby walkway. While there is no fixed obstruction, at times people may pass by your cabin's window. Please note that your cabin assignment has not changed. Please contact your travel consultant for additional information.

Hope this helps. We are new to cruising so not sure but we knew about the walkway when we booked. Just wanted to have light and see from our cabin.

We just received notification from Princess that the specific room we booked and paid for in full has been changed from an OF to and OZ. We still like the room but what about the price difference? Does anyone know if we get money back?
