  1. Are you "any time" or do you have a set seating time?

If you're set for any time, which we were on the Christmas sailing, you're likely to be seated at a table for 2 unless you say otherwise. The three of us were never seated with another group in there, and I don't recall seeing it happen to anyone else, either. They were set up with plenty of smaller tables in the any time section.

If you've got a set seating time, just go see the maitre d' after boarding and ask where you're seated, and if it's with others, ask if you can be moved.

  2. MDR service can easily change by June, and will vary by server, so not sure reviews of that right now are going to help. We were any time (Aurea) on the Christmas sailing, and it was very hit or miss depending on who's section they sat us in. The two servers we had that were really, really slow I'm sure will get better with time.

Food-wise, we were pretty happy all week. I'm no foodie, but aside from the short ribs one night (way overcooked) and the almost kids-menu style Philly cheesesteak in the MDR at lunch one day, we really didn't have any food quality complaints.

  3. Correction on my post. not sure where my head is, but I meant everything below deck 15 is partially obstructed by that rig, not 12. That 360 shot above was taken on 15239's balcony, not 12267. I'll correct the post when I get home.

I keep forgetting editing times out in these boards . So for anyone reading this going forward, just assume I meant 15239, and the 360 picture on the balcony can be found here: https://theta360.com/s/hqefezRAUc1raAKjuEA7EqX3Y

  5. Thank you, it is the wrap around balcony. The room looks fairly large, but the balcony does not.

So I'll let you be the judge of the balcony size, but before I get to that, note that any of those aft wraps below deck 12 have slightly obstructed views on the side of the balcony due to the presence of the cleaning rig that's docked there the entire sailing (it was during the Christmas sailing, anyway). Here's what I mean. I shot this from our balcony on deck 9 starboard (one of the long Aurea suites), and as you can see the large hose wrap section at the bottom of the rig is right there on the side of the deck 9 aft balcony. This exists on both sides of the ship:

That said, here's a 360 shot I took out on the balcony of 12267 while touring it during the 2 day inaugural. Should give you an idea of size, and you can move around and see the view, zoom in on the balcony, etc:

  6. YMMV, but I've sailed the Divina 3 times in the past 11mo, starting with last year's Christmas sailing, and don't ever recall seeing the specialty restaurants anywhere near capacity. Unless the new dining packages have helped boost reservations, I'd bet it won't be that hard

  7. If you travel in the Yacht Club, I guarantee you will have a vastly different experience than the previous poster. There is NO comparison between the Yacht Club and the rest of the ship. The Yacht Club will meet or exceed your every desire. I have been in the Yacht Club on Divina 6 times with numbers 7-10 upcoming, and have sailed many many other cruise lines...trust me when I say you are in for a very special treat!

Completely agree here. We were in Yacht Club on the Easter sailing last week as well, and it was a completely different experience than our Bella sailing this past Christmas. My recaps from both sailings are linked in my sig below. As they note, we enjoyed MSC both times, but Yacht Club is really a world of its own. We enjoyed everything about it.

  8. We were on the Summit in FV 8181 last week. Mirror image of 9156 I think, just on deck 8. It was a great cabin with lots of space and storage. Even with 3 teens, it worked out. I was bummed a little that our access to the balcony was limited when the beds were made up. Our teens slept until 10 a.m. - so much for early morning coffee on the deck!

We liked the long entrance hall - we used it as a dressing room when needed.

Yea, I had a similar issue, the two we had were blocking my ability to eat breakfast out there each morning. I did it anyway, grabbing something from the buffet and making my way between the two sofa beds. My daughter has no idea how close she came to wearing syrup-covered waffles a couple of mornings when I had to step up on the single bed she was in to get through :)

Well worth it though, outstanding view! Assuming the ship comes in the same way each week, I also highly recommend being out there early the day of arrival in Bermuda. Shot this from the balcony as we were approaching the island that morning:

  9. Sorry for bumping an old thread, but just wanted to say thanks to the OP for posting these pics. This cabin came available not long before our sailing, so being able to see all these pics to help make the decision was invaluable.

Paying it forward, I've got a Photosynth of the balcony here for anyone who wants to get an idea of the size, and how much of a view you really get with the corner FV rooms:

We really enjoyed this room (especially the balcony) last week :)

  10. Regarding the smoking policy differences between CCL and Celebrity: My wife and daughter and I have done Thanksgiving cruises on Carnival the last 3 years and none of us like to be around smoke (I'll go so far as to say we all hate it), and outside of the casino, don't remember it being an issue on any of the 3 boats (Freedom, Legend, Breeze). The loud music wasn't even really that big on an issue for us. The only area where it's loud is on Lido out by the main pool, but in other areas of the ship, even outdoor areas forward or aft of there, it was hardly noticeable (if at all)

While we haven't cruised Celebrity yet (set for June :) ), we've been on RCI (3x), NCL (1x), and CCL (4x). The first CCL cruise was back in 2004, and it fit all the stereotypes people still associate with them being a party ship. When we booked the first Thanksgiving cruise in 2011, I really thought long and hard about choosing them for that very reason, but we gave it a shot due to price and itinerary (best itinerary we've ever done). Honestly, the past 3 have shown us that CCL's done a lot to get rid of that reputation. I will say that the food is fine, but I wouldn't call it spectacular. Of the 3 lines we've sailed, RCI always had the best MDR food, with Carnival being second, and NCL being dead last (the dozen or so of us on that trip all felt the same).

As far as the OP looking at the Breeze, that was our most recent, this past Thanksgiving. Biggest boat we'd been on to date on any line, and while it had a few issues, overall we liked it. My parents were with us, and my mom tends to be overly sensitive to both noise and smoke (to put it mildly), but they both had a great time and no complaints in either area. The only problems we had:

    1. The lines for Blue Iguana, Guy's Burger Bar, and the BBQ stand were pretty bad if you went at prime eating times.

    2. The pizza stand. Always a wait, even for a single slice. We skipped the MDR in Curacao due to the times we were in port there, so we ended up running up to get pizza around 11pm that night after we got back on. Yea, pretty sure I waited at least 30min for two slices. This was actually a problem on the Legend and Freedom, too. They definitely need more people on the pizza stand.

    2. The shows have gone downhill, even over the past 3 years. I'm guessing it's a result of cutbacks, but most of the shows on the Breeze just weren't worth staying for. The only one we sat all the way through was the hypnotist, because some of my daughter's friends went up on stage for it.

    3. The comedy club needs to be bigger on the Breeze. On the Freedom and Legend there really wasn't much of an issue getting to the adult comedy shows within 5min of start and finding a seat somewhere, but on the Breeze they filled up within 5min of the doors opening.

Overall, I'd agree with those who've said that Carnival's done a lot to get rid of their 'party boat' image and clean things up. Personally, we'd cruise them again for an itinerary we wanted.

  11. We're thinking about cruising to Bermuda on the Summit in June (me, the wife, 18yo daughter). This will be our first on Celebrity, and not being familiar with the cabins, I wanted to see if anyone has ever been in any of the ones we're looking at on this ship:

    6128

    6099

    6100

6128 has the appearance of having a larger balcony, but almost at the expense of inside space, anyone know if that's true?

If anyone has pics of those cabins, I'd welcome them too. I've been hunting online, but not finding much (especially for 6128)

    Thanks in advance!!
