I neglected to mention earlier that we had a lovely dinner at the Lawn Club grill restaurant that just happened to be the same evening as the jazz concert on the lawn. It was wonderful and relaxing.
Also, celebrity solstice ships have the best bathrooms! A curved shower door! It makes a huge difference!

I've been reading more negative review comments than positive on Reflection. I wonder if anyone here can share some postitives? We've been so excited about our September Mediterranean cruise but are now beginning to get a little concerned.
We just got off the Reflection this past Saturday and thought it was a lovely ship. It was our 8th cruise, so we have come to expect that some meals are better than others and that's basically what we experienced on this cruise. We were not impressed with the MDR food, but found it to be just ok overall.
We had some good entertainment and the ship is beautiful and comfortable. We didn't frequent the bars, so can't really comment on that. Overall, it was a good cruise. As usual, it was tough to walk off the ship!

St. Lucia and St. Thomas are beautiful islands with much to see. I think both should be toured the first time there, and definitely get to one of the beaches on St. Thomas! I would pass on a tour on St. Maarten due to the horrible traffic. When we toured the island we sat in a lot of traffic. The other islands are good for beaching it. San Juan is great for walking around and seeing the forts. Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestion, but we were looking for a beach where we could easily swim and possibly snorkel a little. We are doing an excursion in St. Thomas, so Dt. Maarten is on our own! :)

Has anyone ever gotten a gelish or shellac manicure on the reflection?
I've had manicures on other ships that didn't last very long and was thinking about getting one on the cruise since I have a ship board credit. I'd love to hear your experience....
Thanks!

We were there 2 years ago, in April. It was very nice and quiet (until the party boats came around lunch time). It was also very easy to get to from Crown Bay. It had special meaning to us, since we spent our honeymoon there 32 years ago!
It was pretty, there was shade and food, restrooms, but snorkeling wasn't that great. We stayed a couple of hours and took the ferry back to the ship, ate lunch then headed downtown to shop.

I have read so many reviews and am getting quite confused about which beach would have the best snorkeling in calm waters. Can anyone recommend the best ones on the island? We would prefer that it be in Philipsburg, if at all possible.
Thanks!

Since you had such a great massage, do you mind sharing the name of the therapist in case we want to book one too?

Sorry everyone for mentioning who my travel agent was in a prior post. I didn't realize we were not supposed to do that! I'm still learning about how to use the threads!! :)

A lot depends on your age, expectations and preferences. They are all different and have their good points!

I have not yet been on the Reflection...but I have found myself a bit "bored" on every Celebrity cruise I have been on. It usually occurs between 0345am-0430am...My wife, and our travel friends, are still deep in REM sleep; the coffee in the Ocean View is not appealing to my caffeine addicted and spoiled taste buds; its still too early to head to the Gym (even though the doors may be unlocked); there is hardly a soul up and about; the buffet is still being set up; Cafe al Bacio is locked up tight; Bars are shut down...:(
and all I find to do is...
Explore the ship; gaze at the lightening horizon, or the moon still reflecting on the ocean; listen to my ipod; read a book; walk every inch of outdoor deck space; chat up the Security and other night staff; look at the art; shoot some hoops, or kick the soccer ball around on the sports court; download some pics or compose a couple emails; chill on the balcony (always aft, enjoying the sound and sight of the wake); go over plans for next port; read the Celebrity Today; pick-up the news postings....
Man, that 45 minutes sure is BORING !!:D
Enjoy
Woody
I must admit, your post was pretty funny!! :)

Has anyone been to this beach on the Dutch side? If we take a taxi there, will it be difficult to get one to bring us back to the ship? How far is it from where the ships dock?
Also, can we use the beach if we don't stay at their resort?
Thanks for you help!!

We took a taxi out to the small boat launch, and did the 5 minute journey across to Pinel Island. BEAUTIFUL, relaxing, and amazing snorkeling!
Was it easy getting a taxi to take you back to the ship? How long did the taxi ride take and what was the cost? One more question....did you get bit by a mosquito??? Thanks for your help!!!

Just curious if there were any movies being shown?

We are thinking about going to Pinel Island next month when we stop in St. Maarten. Has anyone been there? Is it worth the drive over to the other side of the island? Are there nicer beaches? We would like to snorkel some, but also want to have a nice beach. Thanks for your comments!

Were there any happy hours on your cruise?

We love the curved shower DOORS! I know that not all ships have the doors, but we like the ones that do!

That's what's so great about cruising, there are so many options for meals! Something for everyone! Thanks for all your comments.

I think they sound yummy and am looking forward some great meals!

I just found this link for anyone who might be interested in what is being served at the Aqua Spa Cafe.

I tried most of the SPE certified dishes on our recent cruise onboard Reflection.
They were almost all outstanding, and some dishes had quite unusual ingredients, like the dessert based on olive oil, which was simply amazing.
SPE is a Belgian creation by the way, that originated at a restaurant, called Tomate Rouge, which has also a branch in New York.
Thanks for the review of the SPE dishes. I am looking forward to trying some of them next month!!!
Should we rent a car for the day or tour?

Well, it's been a while so I will try to recall...we hired a taxi and took a tour of the island. Then we walked to shell beach. It was nice but no shade, so we didn't stay long! Then we walked around the waterfront for a little while. We got the impression that the people on the island, in general, don't like ship tourists. No one was rude, just not very friendly. I would go back and maybe try a different beach! It was, indeed, a pretty island.
