I had assumed the "package" holiday market to be the case, we do travel on land based holidays with Thomson, so I don't think that should cause an issue.

I have been reluctant to book a Thomson cruise in the past, more because of the size of the ship, as opposed to who might be onboard, hence why we are now considering it.

We only sailed on splendour last year and she seemed in good shape, but then I am no expert, so hopefully nothing will be too different.

I think we may just bite the bullet and book and then decide for ourselves....nothing ventured and all that!!!

It seems from reviews that the Thomson ships, whilst smaller, seem to have a really good atmosphere with staff and the entertainment good, which is always a plus.....

After some thoughts, we have sailed RCI about 7 times and never cruised with anyone else....thinking about booking Thomson Discovery as we have sailed Splendour and liked her.....

Husband a bit wary, thinks that the ship will be different, I don't think they will change much apart from decor and the names of the bars etc....what are your thoughts?

How do people think it will compare now it is a Thomson ship?

Any advise would be appreciated

Hello...I am considering the drinks package for an upcoming cruise - med departing venice and the small print reads "your check may reflect an additional tax for certain ports or itineraries"

Has anyone been charged extra on top of the package? Would like to get an idea for a total cost before we commit to anything.

Thanks everyone....I think depending on what time we land we will go straight to the ship and check in then at least that's done...we'll have pretty small carry on bags so once checked in we won't bother getting onboard we'll just head back out....

Many thanks for the info - only a short flight from the UK so should be ready to stretch our legs and explore - will be disappointed if the flights delayed and we miss our chance but that is out of my hands!!

would you also happen to know if the cruise ships have completely changed their routing in and out of port yet - I know there was some talk of them stopping coming in the pretty way (sorry can't remember the name of the route....)

Like the title says basically!!

we are scheduled to arrive into venice airport at 1015 and sail at 5pm -

with picking up bags/customs/transfer/checking in at port/getting rid of bags

do we then have time to get to st marks square for a wander and back in time for muster/sailing???

thoughts anyone?

Hi thanks for the replies folks - they booked - as they always have - the standard cruise/air package and have been told the transfers are NOT included and also not available except private transfers, which I find hard to believe from Rome airport to Rome port.....

The sea/air option has always included transfers and it seems they have changed their website and without telling you, now when you book online it is classed as a build your own package and the transfers are NOT included.....

It does not make this clear and looks like the "private" transfer is an option.....not a "this is all you can book or you're on you're own" I suspect a lot of people will end up stranded at airports without transfers if this is the case with new bookings ......

Hello.....has anyone made a booking on the website recently - my parents did yesterday and after booking queried that the transfers do not show on their invoice, only to be told that they are not automatically included as they selected a build your own package by booking online. (They just booked online in that same way they always have)

They have cruised many times before and always booked themselves online and never had an issue with transfers not being included.....they are now being told they are going to have to pay over £300 extra to add on a private taxi saying there is no shuttle bus service from Rome fco airport to Rome port.....this seems a little odd.....anyone else had any issues??
