  1. Hi,

If you can, get a T-mobile sim card from a friend who has t-mobile service. T-mobile has free international roaming and data in most countries. I borrowed one from a friend and used it for our Caribbean Cruise and Baltics/Russia cruise this year. I just paid my friend the $20 for the sim card. He already had an extra unused line. Even if your friend does not it costs only $20-$30 for an extra line for one month. Make sure your phone is unlocked before using the sim card.

  2. We were looking into a cruise that includes Dubrovnik and other ports along the Dalmatian coast, but it appears Princess does not have a cruise for these ports. I was surprised and wondering if others that normally cruise Princess use another cruise line. Has Princess never done these ports?

    Thanks.

  3. I am curious to hear from people who booked a balcony on a world cruise and their opinions on if it was worth it. Also, looking forward to hearing from people who booked an inside or ocean view room and regretted not booking the balcony in hindsight.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and opinions.

  4. deb66, it depends on the rules your cruise line have for when the passenger have to be back on the ship.

So you might need to reduce some of the time you have planned to spend at the ABBA museum.

cruisingroo, I have checked the SL website and I have not been able to find any information.

    Thanks Desdichado62.

Do you have a recommendation on where we should arrive in Gamla Stan when coming from the ABBA museum?

Also where should we pickup a taxi when returning to S167 from Gamla Stan?

Any walking tour in Gamla STan that is recommended?

    Thanks for all your help.

  5. 1. I think a taxi would be the fastest way, possible there might be lots of traffic at 1pm on a friday afternoon and in that case the only option is to walk.

It would take about 30 minutes to walk the 2.2km:

    2. The first ferry departs at 07.28 from the farther end of the quay. There will likely also be hoho boats.

HoHo buses I something I recommend NOT to use in Stockholm, very expensive and rarely goes in the most optimal order between the sights.

Also very prone to getting stuck in traffic.

Taxi could be fast but at 7 in the morning is rush hour even if many people are enjoying the summer break from work. It also depends on if you are part of a larger group travelling

together or if it's you and your family.A larger group would probably benefit from going by taxi while if you only are 2-3-4 people, HoHo boats or ferries would be a more suitable choice.

Thank you Desidichado62. Can you tell me if this schedule is doable? We are a party of four. Also, any suggestions for the walk route when touring Gamla Stan and where to arrive when coming from the ABBA museum and where to pickup taxi for return to ship?

    1. Take taxi or HOHO boat to Vasa museum between 7:15-7:30 and and arrive to Vasa museum by 8-8:15am. Purchase tickets for opening at 8:30am.

    2. Spend maximum 2 hours at Vasa and then walk or take taxi to ABBA museum. I have pre-purchased tickets for 10:45am entrance. Leave no later than 12:00pm.

    3. Take taxi to Gamla Stan, walk around and take pictures until 1-1:15pm.

    4. Leave Gamla Stan via taxi and return to S167 by 1:45pm. Ship leaves at 2:00pm.

  6. Hi,

Thank you everyone on this thread for all the information. I have a few more questions.

    1. What will be the fastest way from Gamla Stan to S167 on 7/15/2016 and how much time will be needed? Our ship (regal Princess will leave at 2:00pm.

    2. Is there a ferry that runs from S167 to Vasa Museum at 7:00am? Will it be faster than HOHO bus or taxi?

  7. Hi,

I am curious if anyone has purchased art or sculptures onboard Princess Ships. We liked some sculptures by Nano Lopez but they were very expensive. I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten good deals on these and if so how much of a discount.

    Thanks.

  8. We traveled last year throughout Denmark and Norway. Both our credit cards had chips and one of them I was given a pin by the credit card company, but I forgot it for my trip. I never had an issue with paying with either credit card at stores, train stations, taxi, etc. Just tell them it is a chip card but no pin. You will have to sign the receipt.

I would recommend if you have time before your trip to request a pin from the credit card issuer and remember it.

  9. Start with Vasa and then depending on what time it is, either goto Abba or do the shopping before heading to Old Town.

I think Abba and shopping might be difficult to find time for.

Main shopping area is: https://www.google.se/maps/dir/59.3319448,18.0611771/59.3324121,18.0629736/Hamngatan,+Stockholm/59.3355504,18.0595492/59.3286359,18.0665201/@59.3303404,18.0595397,1203m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m12!4m11!1m0!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x465f9d5c0864cf5b:0x39b2c8502092d7bd!2m2!1d18.071387!2d59.332777!1m0!1m0!3e2 but there are plentiful of shops and art gallerias in Old Town as well. Albeit many of them are "tourist traps".

Transport wise, you should have enough time to go with the HoHo boat that will do direct to Vasa in the morning.

Then from there you might use taxi or harbour ferry (Djurgårdsfärjan) to Old Town) depending on where you choose to go.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information.

    1. What would be the best way and how much time to get from Vasa to ABBA?

    2. Is there a way to get tickets for the 8:30 am opening at VASA?

    3. How long does the HOHO bus take to get to VASA? Would a taxi or other form of transport be faster to beat the lines at VASA?

  10. Hi Desdichado62,

Thank you for all the wonderful links and information. It is greatly appreciated.

I will be arriving on Regal Princess cruise ship in Stockholm on 7/15/2016. We are a party of four. Unfortunately are ship is only in port from 7:00 AM to 2:00 pm.

I would like to see the following:

    Vasa Museum

    ABBA museum

Royal Palace area from outside for pictures

    Gamla Stan walking tour

None of the tours that I have found will include all of these sites. What would you recommend? If I would do it by myself, then in what order and how to get from one to another? I am OK with paying for taxis if it helps me see all the sites. I have inquired about private tours, but they are all quoting prices from $1100-1300 for a party of four people.

Also, where would you recommend we do some very quick shopping.

Thank you in advance for all your help

  11. My parents will be in Geiranger next May, aboard NCL Star, 7-17h

Unfortunately my father have heart problems, so he can't walk a long way during a long time because he gets really tired and can't recover easily, so we want to keep the tours simple and easy.

I have everything planned for them regarding to the other stops: Alesund (little train tour), Flam (Flam Railway), Bergen (funicular and the fish market)

...But have no idea what to plan for Geiranger...Maybe I'm wrong,it seems to me that they have to hike to see something worth and the town have nothing to see besides the (beautifull) landscape

I was thinking about one bus tour, but I'm afraid that it's maybe boring to stay 2 hours inside a bus. The tour is this one:

    http://www.geirangerfjord.no/panoramic-bus-geiranger-2

    What is your opinion?

    Thank You :)

We went last year and did both HOHO buses and the Geiranger small ship trip into the fjord. All of them are very easy to do physically. I get motion sickness easily and had no problems on the bus or boat. The view from Mt. Dalsnibba was cloudy, but on the way up you get some great views. We also enjoyed the bus to Eagle Bend.

  12. Hi,

We are assigned R417 on Regal and wondering if we should change. This is for a Baltic cruise in July with long port days. Which minisuites cabins are better than this one? According to Princess R417 is the highest level minisuite.

Thanks CC board members for the help as always.

  13. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has done this cruise last year and can provide feedback. Looking for information on good port excursions, how exhausting were they, how is the cruise for kids aged 10-12 years old, breakdown of type of passengers on the ship, etc.

We have done both Princess and Disney cruises so we are familiar with cruising but looking for more specific information on this cruise and the ship as we have not been on the Regal Princess.

As always thanks for the information.

  14. My niece and I plan on spending a couple of days in Copenhagen too. What hotel do you recommend. This is our first visit to the area so any advise

    will be appreciated..

The Square Hotel or the Marriott Copenhagen. If you stay at the Marriott get a water facing room. It is a beautiful view. The Square has a better location slightly and is right in the center close to everything.
