Hi, Port Canaveral is pretty industrial......I don't know of any sights within walking distance. I don't know where the museum you are referring to is located but I can almost guarantee you would need a car...an uber for example. Other things to consider? Cocoa Beach.......not within walking distance but you could use Uber for that too.

oh my information (and the map someone else posted) is only if you are cruising Royal Caribbean.  It is more difficult from the other terminals.

    Hi,

Our cruise from NJ first stop will be Cape Canaveral. We wanted to go to Kennedy space but I think the time we are there would make it difficult . So I saw the Wizard of Oz museum the port . My question can we walk to the Museum ? Is there any other things we should consider that is within walking distance ? Not looking for restaurants or bars .

    thank you

    Kelly

    Hi Kelly,

there are several things within walking distance.  You can also research the city bus schedule, you walk out through the garage and there is a bus stop right there.   There is Exploration Tower, it is a very interesting tour.  Shaped like a sail on a sailboat, 5 or 6 stories high, history of the area and information about the animals and such.  I have heard you can walk to Jetty Park Beach.  You can use Google maps or the tourism site to get more information.

We will be stopping there the week of November 13th.   Our age and mobility issues make it that we will either stay on the ship or get a taxi.

  3. We have been in the Haven a couple of times.  Most people on our cruises did not have the attitude but you could tell they were used to having servants pick up after them.  They would leave stuff all over and just expect it to disappear.   LOL

I have enjoyed the Haven each time and for different reasons each time.

We are sailing March 20th and had a chance to upgrade but did not take it.   With all the free perks given with the cruise and the perks we get as Saphire level.....abJout the only thing we don't have is a butler.  I could never figure out what to do with a butler anyway  LOL.

Josephine was the best butler, she gave us all sorts of ideas on what she could do for us.  The best was in suite dining one night.

  4. We are platinum plus and have traveled in the Haven several times.   I have used the butler in the Haven to help with reservations for dining.  One butler, when she could not get the time we wanted, convinced us to dine in our room.   It was an awesome treat.  She took care of evrything.....seemed so special to get up from the table loaded with dirty dishes and go to a show......and everything was clean when we returned.!!!!  It was a fun night and something we had not done before or since.  I know for lots of people dinner served in the room is not a novelty but for us it was fun.

To tell you the truth, we usually go to the restaurant we want to dine in eithr that night or the next, during the day or very early evening and talk to the hostess and get the times we want.    Doing a face to face and having greeting them often as we walk by during the day or evening certainly seems to help.

As for the conceirge, I have tried to use them on a couple ships, They even had a special area but the times they wre their was very limited and inconvenient or not very helpful.

  5. We have never seen the lot fill up.  It can be busy and congested and frustrating.  We starting parking at 470 43rd Street.  Can often find coupons.  A deal right now is $29 a night.   You drive to the garage, check in and they drive you back to the port.  If you do not have a lot of luggage you can get out across the street and avoid the traffic into the terminal.   You can pay extra and the pick you up at the end of the cruise.  One advantage is it is a covered garage if you cruise in winter.
