  1. It's $114. You pay $55 to reserve and then you pay $59 at the resort.

We are a family of 4 and were thinking of doing Hilton Rose Hall as well for our Sept 2015 sailing. However, at $114 pp (it's a bit over $450 for us 4) it's far too expensive to book through Resort for a Day. I called Hilton Rose Hall directly and was told I could book a night there even if I was only using it for the daytime and we would be allowed the same all-inclusive privileges as the guests, including food. The nightly rate for the cheapest room is $189 so definitely a HUGE savings. A cab to HRH is about $50 each way for us 4, so that's still a $165+ savings if we book through the resort. Just a thought for those considering booking HRH!!

  2. That article is 2 years old (2012) but it is proof that Royal has been doing this kind of thing for a LONG time....just has taken awhile for CC users to catch on. Which is why Royal is no longer number one or two on my "cruise wish list". I do consider Royal as I am Platinum, but their prices and policies really bother me.

Yes, it's over two years old but the person referenced in the article, Papa Kaiser, is the same one who shared the link and his own personal story about it.

  3. How many people are in your stateroom Bill? I'm seeing that for two adults #14317 is open... I know it's not x729 but it's at least closer to the aft and not right under the teen club.

Also, the price difference for double occupancy between a B1/B2 ($1759) and an OV (D2-D8's are approximately $1864) is about $100 and 7724 is available which is super close to the end of the aft. What if you call and tell them to not give you that $100 OBC and to apply that to the price difference of those cabin categories? Just a thought.

  4. If I may suggest, keep in mind what you're paying on a per person basis...even if you have the kids sailing free, split the total price by 4 so you know what everyone costs.

Then, as time goes by, you can compare booking adjoining or connecting cabins to see if putting 2 in each comes out cheaper than what you're paying with the quad. Sometimes, they will reduce cabins in certain categories and not others, and for a few dollars more, it might be advantageous to move to 2 cabins with 2 bathrooms and more space.

Just a thought to consider going forward.

Yes!! I did try that! It was actually about $700 more, but it definitely crossed my mind. Adjoining cabins would be awesome, our kids will be 6 and 14 months at the time of sailing so the more space the better. Will definitely keep an eye out, thanks!

  5. When doing mock bookings OP not only has to compare the prices but must also compare the categories to make certain it's an apples to apples comparison. Additionally due to the lower number cabins that can hold of 3 & 4 Passenger the base prices is general always higher than that for cabins that only hold 2 passengers. It's called supply and demand.

Yes, the mock booking I did was for the same category, B1, as well as for the two closest staterooms I could find. They were only one stateroom apart actually. In any case, it makes sense that the base pricing would be different if the stateroom can accommodate more passengers. Thanks! That makes me feel a tiny bit better :)

  6. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids). When we booked our cruise, the promo was the "Friends and Family Sail Free", so we booked a B1 Boardwalk Balcony and the total came out to $3,017. Out of curiosity, I did a ghost booking just to see how much it would've been had my DH and I booked for ourselves without the kids. To my surprise, it came out to $1,932!!! That's over a $1,000 difference! Now even if the BOGOHO Sale wouldn't apply, I understand it would be around $2,500, but still... Even with the 2 kids and their port fees it seems like we are still overpaying by about $300. What the..?!!!

  7. Oh no Bill!! That's terrible news!! I was so excited for our cruise Sept 2015 and remember how I told you I'd made the change to 9729? UGH!!! I can't believe RCI would do something like this! Now I am super worried that they'll move us too... Even though we are a bit over a year away, it still concerns me since more and more cabins will be filling up which means that in case they "need" to move us, they'll probably move us to a crappy one 😥

  8. Hello everyone!

We are a family of 4 and will be sailing on the Oasis on September 26, 2015. DS will be 6, DD will be 14 months. This is our first time on Royal (we've cruised on Carnival and Disney before always with ocean view balconies). We had originally booked Boardwalk Balcony 12705 but I wanted something with more of an ocean view. I noticed 9725 just became available and it's only 2 staterooms away from the aft. We want to keep the Boardwalk stateroom because of the novelty of it and because we think the kids would like it. Should I stay with the original stateroom or change it? Any thoughts? Pros or cons? Thanks in advance!
