How interesting! Celebrity often releases it's tours too late for important ports. A few times we put together private ones only to discover the ship had added something similar close to the sailing date.
Hope the cruise gives you enough time to see the GBR.
Aloha Sharie, long time since we have communicated! We too are booked on this cruise. Never in a million years thought that the Cairns port would be too late to see the GBR. We have written a letter to the president of Celebrity too. This was our main reason for booking this itinerary. Goodness! Shouldn't be this difficult.
We got an email from Celebrity for Rich's birthday today too so we responded that a great birthday gift would be to change the time of Cairns arrival. Hoping we get somewhere with this. We have already set up hotels and flights but also purchased insurance on those so we can still reconsider this itinerary.
Aloha
Cheryl & Rich hope all is well with you and your family:)

First day catch a cab to Fremantle from the Airport and settle in your hotel second day catch the ferry up stream on the Swan river to Perth City then get the train from Perth back to Fremantle. Perth has free Cat bus,s around Perth CBD and there is a Trolley/Tram bus that takes you to Kings Park and the Casino complex.
This is a cheap river trip every tourist to West Australia should do.
If you have time you can continue up stream on the Swan river to the Swan Valley wineries, the ferries do wine tours and tastings.
Only those tourists that have done the river trip Perth to Freo or Freo to Perth understand the Beauty and attraction of so many to Perth;)

Wow what great info you are all sharing. Appreciate it!
We will cab it and enjoy the ride free of stress.
We have all the time in the day to get there. Then we have Tuesday to spend exploring and some of Wed. too. We will then board the ship Wed. afternoon.
Excited,
Cheryl:D

Ok then, the taxi it is if there is no longer a shuttle. We do not like trucking luggage all over the place. Getting older...LOL
The ferry ride up the river sounds nice for the next day. There is also an island we were thinking about trying to get to by ferry if there is one. Will play it by ear. Excited and looking forward to this adventure.
Aloha,
Cheryl & RIch:)

We arrive at Perth airport at 3:35pm on Monday, Feb. 23rd so that puts us on our way to Fremantle during rush hour traffic. We may just try the shuttle since it is still day light and enjoy the scenery and mini tour of the area by shuttle.
Aloha and thank you all for the input.

The last time I went from Perth airport (Domestic) to Fremantle, I took the "Fremantle Airport Shuttle". This was 2 years ago now. The shuttle desk was near the baggage claim exit, and the waiting area was not far outside from there.
Thank you:)

Aloha,
We will arrive at the Perth airport and our hotel for 2 days will be in Fremantle which we understand is about 15 miles. What transportation is available?
Thank you for any assistance,
Cheryl:)

8/12/11 - 8/24/11 Best tips we got from this board:
1. battery night light (candle battery operated)
2. power strip
3. good easy to travel with rain coat and rain pants. Only wore the pants once but very happy to have them.
4. good walking shoes. We got ours from LLBean and they were water resistant. Best investment we made
5. We had the LLBean Storm Jackets with the fleece lining that is removeable and water resistant outside. We never separated them and wore them most days.
6. Over the door toiletry and medication holder. We had 2 of them and they hung in the closet and kept the sink area clear and everything was handy when we did the 5 day land tour.
7. Adventure Bound 10 hour Sawyer Glacier tour out of Juneau.
8. Tundra Wilderness Tour. EXCELLENT!!!!
9. gallon size zip lock bag with the corner cut out for my camera lens. It rained just about everyday in port.
10. Prime Rib dinner on the train. EXCELLENT best we have ever had.:D
11. This board rocks and all the information was spot on. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Lahaina Harbor for Celebrity. It is a tender port and can often take a long time to get off the ship as this is the first port into the USA so immigration has to come on board and clear everyone.
Have a great cruise
