  1. Hi All

We are a young couple (Early 30's) and had our first cruise in Oct last year on the Epic and absolutely loved the trip. Will be sailing out of Venice in September on Star and when we booked we didn't even pay attention to which ship it would be on as we were only really interested on the itinerary and the wife has always wanted to go to Venice.

Just wanted all of your opinions of what you think of Star as don't know what to expect from a smaller ship.

    Thanks!

Hi PetrosZA, we are a younger couple as well (Late 20s) and will be with you on the Sept 3rd sailing from Venice. This will be our first European cruise but we have been on smaller ships before and enjoyed them. Hope to meet you on board!

  2. Snorkelman is correct! Walking is only ideal if you are obese or injured. You could try jogging or maybe some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) 5-6 times a week. Make sure to incorporate weight training at least 3 times a week. Always remember Diet is 70% of weight loss. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. shoot for a weekly deficit of 3,500-7,000 for a 1-2 pound loss max. Anything over that and you will loosing muscle and other tissue along with the fat. Just some pointers that have helped me in my weightloss journey.

  3. Thanks everyone for the advice. We're not very adventurous drinkers so we are definitely open to suggestions. I know he just wanted to try something new and different so I think trying one of the other rums is an excellent idea.

If you are looking for something new and different, have you or your husband tried Guavaberry Rum? Some of their rums are Mash-up, Republic aged 5 years and Republic aged 8 years. They also have a Guavaberry Liquor that has an interesting flavor. You can only find this in St Martin. My wife and I make sure to buy enough bottles to last us until next time we travel to the island again.

  4. At the suggestion of our waiter, we got unopened HUGE cans of Fosters beer and just took it with us to enjoy later in deck. Not huge breakfast drinkers! Have done this multiple times now with no problem.

I have heard of people ordering Long Islands with no ice and saving them for later. Might try that one myself in August!:D

  5. Directly from the FAQ:

"Most evenings we have a Cruise Casual dress code, but there are those Cruise Elegant evenings one or two nights throughout your “Fun Ship” voyage, where you will have the opportunity to showcase your more elegant attire. For those who want casual attire for dinner time, the Lido Restaurant is open nightly, and has a more relaxed theme. However, shirts and shoes/footwear (flip-flops) must be worn at all times inside the Lido Restaurant.

Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies - Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs).

Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, gym shorts, basketball shorts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men and baseball hats.

Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you‘d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too!

Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, gym shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats."

  6. I'm looking for some recommendations for places to stay in Cocoa Beach before our cruise.

We have stayed at the Best Western by the pier which was nice to be beach side. We have more recently stayed at the Radisson at the port and loved it. They have a great park and cruise package and great customer service.

  7. So they should be showing the NBA finals next week on the ship, shouldn't they? I leave on Saturday :D:D and am a HUGE Heat fan. I'll be so sad if I miss three games of the series. Anybody have words of encouragement for me?

It isn't like missing the games will ruin my cruise or anything but it would be nice to know, especially since I am not the only Heat fan in my group.

Hello! Fellow Heat fan here from Miami. I've never sailed Norwegian before but from past cruise experience, they always play things like Finals, Superbowl, World Series etc.. Hoping for a Win!!

  8. As we get closer lets set something up since we will be neighbors and all! I'm looking at your signature and see you sailed the dream on 2/06. Was that out of Port Canaveral also? We sailed the Sensation the same day out of that port.

Yup that was out of Port Canaveral. We were hit with that surprise cold front that morning. We definitely should set something up. Are you guys driving to port the same day?

  9. Small world! I was eyeballing that cabin. It looks huge! I was happy to get the one I did. By the looks of it it is alos bigger than a standard OV. Never been in the aft before though... I know a lot of people seem to agree that it is a love/hate thing. I'm sure we will enjoy it! Let's share a drink or 4 in August!

I have done a Aft cabin on the Disney Dream and like people say, you only feel the vibration when docking at ports. Not a big deal for us. These rooms look HUGE! Looking forward to those drinks!

  10. Had to let someone know... or in this case everyone! Just booked the Liberty, 8/22/14, Exotic E Caribbean itinerary! 1st cruise on the Liberty AND we've never been to any of these ports before. My DGF and I are sooo looking forward to it! Booked OV 2462, which is one of the L shaped cabins in the aft of the ship.

Anyone have any inside tips on the ship, cabin or ports of call on this cruise!?! We generally like to do our own thing in the port as we tend to believe ship sponsored excursions are on the expensive side.

I know there is a lot of Liberty love in this forum! Ready to experience some of that ourselves!

Hi neighbor! DW and I are booked on room 2470 right next to you. This is our first time on the Liberty as well.
