  1. Hi, NeCruiseFan. I am sorry to hear that. My expectations are what I would call extremely realistic. For my family this is only their 2nd cruise, and the previous one was on another old Carnival ship; for my parents it's their first so they don't know what to expect.

I choose travel based on timing (has to work around school holidays) and cost (prefer not to have to fly to the port or to go bankrupt on cruise fare) so we sort of know what we are getting and accept the facts that go along with it. This was a bonus to our already planned road trip to Florida for Christmas break to visit Papa; if it's less than perfect we will still be glad we got filled up on Guy's Burgers/Blue Iguana and walked around on a hot sandy beach with beautiful turquoise waters in the dead of winter rather than driving back to the Midwest 4 days sooner.

Frankly, it would have to be almost indescribably bad, to be worse than going back to Chicago 4 days earlier IN JANUARY. Love my home but January here is dark, cold, often icy, and Not Nice.:)

KMpmChicago: Lol don’t get me wrong. I’m in Kansas City and work for a school district so I totally know what you are talking about. Hubby and I try to do that every couple years when we visit my parents at Christmas but this was a special occasion. Guys is incredible (3 Times for me) but has very brief hours (closes at 6p), Blue Iguana was good too but same hours. We all would have rather eaten there then the MDR. We had the Cheers package so we did not let it go to waste. I will close by saying my friend sailed this same ship 5 years ago and it was vastly different. If your expectations are low you will probably be ok. [emoji6] Enjoy!

  2. I hope you both @beachgirl676 and @KmomChicago have better experiences than we did. Just got off yesterday and it was the single worst cruise I have ever been on. I was concerned it was just us but during excursion yesterday in Miami the van of 12 agree is was below what we are used to. Good luck.

  3. Grand Turk is at limited capacity. They couldn't just return all ships there as if nothing happened.

While it is possible you will be sharing the island, its highly doubtful.

My personal opinion: Grand Turk is just a beach day. Outside of the beach, there really isn't much at GT.

Thanks for that info. Just always wanted to go to Turks. We had an excursion booked but my friend did it so I’m not sure what it was. But we will be happy no matter what.

  4. Carnival changed our Grand Turk day to Princess Cays. Very upset about this because there are still I other ships around us going to GT. If I wanted a beach day I would have booked a beach day. [emoji35]. Since it’s a Carnival ship using a Princess island will we be sharing the island with Princess that day?

  5. Thank you for this great review. Just what I was looking for! We booked a last minute great deal (in our opinion) and are headed out on the Holiday cruise 12/26. Will be in FL for Christmas visiting my parents and the kids are staying with them. We have been on Norwegian Sun and this seems very similar. Looking forward to the open bar experience, but hoping the loud folks aren't on it!

Did you buy your RUI pass in Nassau before the cruise? We have been to Nassau several times, and other than taking a taxi out to the beach I think we may look at doing one of those all inclusive deals.

Thanks for the itineraries too. Our trip is a 4 day cruise, so we have a day at sea in addition to Nassau and the Private Island.

Enjoyed your whole review and pictures!

  6. Yes, menus are the same.

Just got off Victory this morning. Would not do ATD again. Did not feel the staff felt as friendly or caring of us. Also we had 4 different groups each night. I do like the atmosphere of the scheduled dining much better.

  7. We got off Victory this morning. One, we had the earliest arrival ever. Plus if you do FTTF you have priority disembarking. We could have gotten off zone 1 but ended up WITH zone 6 and we were still off the ship and in our rental car a bit after 8 . We were at the airport (rental car) before 9.

Also in all our disembarking paperwork the cruise line gave us, if you have an early flight you can take your flight paperwork to guest services to get priority boarding.i say go for it.

  8. We just got off Victory today. They had all the games on the big screen. We were in Cozumel the first night and were able to get the games in the Stateroom. The day at sea yesterday we could not get any in our room but they had the games all over the ship including the big screen.
