  1. This is our second cruise on Freedom, the first was back in 2009 for our Honeymoon. This is our Anniversary cruise. I have to say this has been very disappointing. The service on board has really gone down since our last trip. I apologize ahead of time. I didn't bring my camera, so I won't be posting any pics.

    Cabin

We got an OV room 2435. The room is nice, location great. But the shower stopped up during the first shower. The air in the room doesn't seem to circulate. I went to guest services and they sent maintenance who checked and it registered 73.5 which iws "within Carnival standards", so they would not do anything to fix it. Kimberly at the desk did graciously give me a fan for my DH who keeps sweating. She told me they are reserved for guets with medical conditions who need them to sleep.

Our steward likes to play hide the trash can, so we have been having fun with that one. We are Premium Casino guests and he keeps forgetting to leave our casino drawing tickets and such. We missed the cocktail party and drawing the first night and a few other things. I have to check each day to make sure we got everything.

    Casino

The slots are HORRIBLE!!!! I lost a LOT of money. Can't hit anything! This has been one of the worst gambling trips we have ever been on.

You cannot get service while playing. We get free drinks and it doesn't matter if you tip or not. We always tip, and they still don't come around. Waited 30 minutes one time for a soda. Twice we ordered and the same girl came by and asked if we wanted something 15 mins later without bringing a drink.

    Food

We haven't made it to MDR. The buffet is terrible, terrible, terrible! We just ordered room service or pizza. I may loose a few pounds if we dont make it to MDR soon.

I am really disappointed in the Freedom. We were really looking forward to this cruise. It was one of our favorite cruises from the past, and now we probably won't be back.

Well.. i better get back to some sun. :)

Just got off the 12 dy repo and the Lido food was awesome and I am very picky. Our room was so cold(I'm always hot}we had to keep turning it down. Sorry your trip is not what you wanted.

  2. I haven't found a consistency to answer with certainty. On two cruises on the Pride (which I enjoyed greatly), I tried the Lido buffet for dinner once. It was terrible (and I'm not picky), with limited stations open. I didn't think it mirrored the dining room menu at all.

On a cruise on Freedom, I found the dinner buffet quite good, having several items from the dining room menu. Ended up eating dinner there five of the six nights.

You won't necessarily find the cold soup and appetizer choices.

I agree with your thinking; sometimes the dining room takes too long and there are others things I'd rather be doing.

Just got off the Freedom and the Lido buffet was awesome and I am a picky eater. We only ate in the DR one night and the sea brunches.

  3. We were there in Feb and we had a huge long platter of fruits sliced and another one the same size with vegetable. There were 3 of us and couldnt begin to eat it all. There was a couple not far from out cabana and when we got ready to leave we gave them the cabana and more fruit & veggies than they could have eaten plus pop and water. We paid 199.00 and it was very nice but not sure I would do it again even if they hadn't cut back.

  4. We tried to order a bottle of whiskey and vodka and sixteen beers from Bon Voyage online and it would only let us order the two bottles or 8 beers not both for our Dream cruise in Nov. We order all of it in Feb for the Liberty with no problem so I am assuming with the new cheers program they don't want you having that much in your room.

  5. As soon as you board go straight to guest services and pick your cabana and tell them how many in your cabana. It will be set up for that many but there is plenty of stuff to eat and drink only the scuba gear will be for 4 and the floats. When we left early we let another couple have ours as there was so much fruit and chips & dips left it was a shame just to throw it our. Have a great time beautiful place.

  6. They will only put enough soda, water, salsa, chips and fruit for the number you state so if you say four they won't care how many visit you and the price is the same whether 2 or 4. We had 3 and there was more then we could even think of eating but it was three women so wouldn't snack as much as men or maybe even the kids. They come buy introduce themselves and make sure everything is alright. Also snokel gear and chairs and floating pad for the number you state. We were their in Feb. and that was how it was. A great day.

  7. We had nothing planned at this stop so we took one of the tours when we got off for 20.00. It was very nice he took us around the town and we stopped at various places,, one being the capital building which we could go inside it was beautiful. Stopped at several sites along the water he had a ton of information. At the end he drop us off at San Christobal to spend the rest of our time. It was well worth the 20.00 since I have issues with a lot of walking. We stopped at the other fort but I would have never made the long walk so most of us on the tour just took pictures and then got back on to be dropped at San Chritobal.

  8. I am considering booking a cruise on the Liberty in January 2014 ... But a friend of mine just got off the ship two days ago and told me a few thing that has me rethinking about booking it now. :o

She told me the service has gone down. The food is not that good. Said a few times in the MDR food at times seemed reheated from the night before. :(

She said ST Thomas is a filthy island ...

Any info that you can give me would be great.

    Thanks ;)

We just got off the Liberty the same time as Navybaby and the staff throughout the ship were outstanding and we never had a bad meal. St Thomas is a beautiful island we went to Magens Bay (one of the top 10 beautiful beaches in the world) also went shopping and ate at a little outdoor cafe across from the market and the food was great.

  9. We have a cabana for Nov 2013, I know it comes with water, pop and a few things to eat. What my question is once the water or pop is gone do you have to purchase more? Do waiters come done the beach and take drink orders or do you have to go to the bar? Thanks for any help this is our first time on HMC.
