  1. Thanks for sharing.

This is why I think it's crazy that the ships are going back so soon. Parts of the island still doesn't have power, the hotels that have day passes aren't going to be open, etc.

We were in St. Thomas on a cruise last Jan. I took a lot of pics of harbour area. We are on a TA next month on Star and our stop in St. Thomas was cancelled. I would of loved to take some more pics for before and after and leave some needed money in their economy.

  2. We really liked our balcony cabin on the star, it was just the right size. Plenty of storage, could get 2 hard shell cases and hand luggage under the bed. The balcony was also a decent size for us to sit out for a couple of afternoons. We worked on the basis that what we saved by not getting one of the others would cover some trips in ports or a few extra specialty meals.

We agree. We do a T/A in Nov. Have balcony booked. Got the usual upgrade email for us to bid. Not happening. If they want to upgrade us we might. If I have to pay for it, no thanks. Call me cheap, just don't call me late for dinner.

  3. I was on Regal in exact same stateroom in Jan. The cabin is the same size as the others, but the balcony is twice the size. You can stand on outside of railing and look with ease up both ways the side of the ship. There are only 2 cabins on ship with these balconies(one on either side). As stated a definite keeper.

  4. 1: Can I pre order a bottle of Bourbon that will be in cabin when I come aboard? I have been able to on Celebrity. I just did this on Princess and it was not in cabin. I have a slip and I had to call room service to get. Useless for sail away on balcony. 2: What can we bring aboard on embarkment?

  5. When I last cruised on Celebrity we were offered a nice discount to go to one of their Specialty Dinning rooms. We were coming back aboard from port visit and crew member was offering these discounts. I figured they were not getting enough people to attend these so were offering them at discount. We go on Regal next Sun. and wonder if Princess ever does this?

  6. I was wondering if you can purchase the beverage package once you embark on your voyage or does it have to be purchased in advance?

If you are thinking it will be cheaper on board, it won't be. They have it figured out. Either buy it in advance or as soon as you get aboard.

  7. I only booked a couple of cruises. Next one in Jan. I did the math and found it is a lot cheaper in the end if you can get a larger onboard credit that seems more freely from US based agencies. I have $850us on board credit on this upcoming cruise. I use a site called Cruise Compete and found great deals that work out a whole lot cheaper. These agencies I have used had high grades from US business bureau. I checked first. You can barter a bit too. I would recommend though, to insure from Canadian Company.

  8. Banks have terrible foreign exchange rates though. You pay the awful rate when you get these cards.

I use foreign exchange company (NightsBridge). You send them any amount CND and they deposit US into your American account. They beat the heck out of the banks rate. I then transfer the American funds to card. Done. No fees no surprises. Just American funds to use. I can not find a cheaper way to travel. If you find one, please let me know.

  9. On emerald deck check out E130 and E125. These two deluxe balcony cabins have extended balconies due to what looks like a bulkhead that runs through the ship there. If you look at a deck plan you will see it shown. Best part is they are the same price as others in this category. I got one booked in Jan. on Regal.

  10. When we all go cruising, we are told what we can not bring aboard. Right? They do NOT tell you what you have to have to dine on Formal night. It is a guide only. If this was the 60s, 70s, 80s, you would not get through the door without a tux! It is 2016 and those days are like the sneakers from the 50s. I do not mean to offend older cruisers than me, but change is happening. Empty cabins don't make profit. Change happens constantly and this is just another example everyone has to live with. I respect the past dress codes but I do not dress that way ever. I try to go with the times. so for me I dress very modern and nice. (I even shave). Oh by the way. I will be the youngest old guy next cruise. I turn 65 on next cruise. Just go cruise and enjoy.

  11. Only cruised once. That was on Celebrity. WE are doing back to Back on Regal in Jan. Will definitely try this Balcony Dinning. Has anyone tried this during a port call? was thinking this might be a good way to sail out of port at one of our stops. I know we are at the mercy with weather, but I was more concerned about being blown off the balcony than getting wet. What are your experiences?

  12. Bumping this thread. I just booked it last night. Can anyone that stayed in this room comment on the experience ? Was the balcony worth it ? Was there noise from the theater below ?

    Thanks !

Booked E130 after reading this thread back in Feb for Jan. 8th back to back. Was going to blow Regal off because of Balcony sizes until I read this thread. Still would like to know like others about any issues with these cabins. Will do balcony dinning so like the larger balcony. Can't believe these two gems go unnoticed. Will review it at end of Cruise

  13. CIBC just came out with a prepaid Visa card. You can get them in multiple currencies too. I just got a US dollar one for travelling. I use Knightsbridge for currency exchange for any amount I want and they deposit into my CIBC American dollar account. I can load the card from that account and save a lot from Banks exchange rates. Can load up to $7000 max. Cruise coming in Jan. No more having to figure out where I stand. Just go to my CIBC online banking and know.
