  1. When you pass customs, look for CDS/Priority Baggage (next to car rentals). For $40, they will transfer your luggage (max 4 bags) to the airport location for afternoon/evening pickup.

Can you do this as you get off the ship or do you need to reserve it ahead of time? This would be our best option. Celebrity told me they want $100.00 a person to send our luggage. UNREAL!! Our flight doesn't leave till 10 at night and we would love to just go around Vancouver without the luggage.

  2. We just returned from our Med. Cruise and I just want to recommend Rome in Limo. We had Mike and we had a wonderful day in Rome. There were six of us who met thru the roll call here. I highly recommend them for Rome and also book the private vatican tour, well worth the money. I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to anyone going to Italy.

  3. I think that is what we want to do but it is all so confusing.

I don't know when your cruise is, it is confusing. But if you start to look at what interest you and there is a lot of information on the cruise boards, you can do it.

It is a lot of work, but I am so glad I did the research and booked what I wanted to when it is all over. We are going on an Europe cruise in three weeks and this has taken me 1 and 1/2 years to research. It is confusing in the beginning but it does come together in the end and you learn so much.

I wish you an excellent cruise.

  4. Just to say that I will be looking forward to your review with interest.i am going on my first ever cruise on the celebrity eclipse in 3 weeks time from Southampton to the med. so excited.

We are also on that cruise. We have been on the Eclipse, beautiful ship, love it.

We will be very interested in the review of the ports.

  5. We did this tour two years ago, and it is interesting how they changed some things. We went end of August into September, our buses were not packed, which was nice, we wore light hiker shoes. We did a glacier hike in Aleyeska, the scenery AMAZING. A very casual tour and cruise, no one at our table worn formal at all, but nicely dressed . Denali's ground was bright orange, something I will never forget.

We did see McKinley, which is something I hope you see, AMAZING! We had 70 degree weather in Ketchikan and did the ship snorkel excursion, VERY INTERESTING. We loved Anchorage, wish we had more time there.

An AMAZING trip, I would go back in a heartbeat.

The only thing I wish I saw was the Puffins, have to go in spring for that.

I wish you a wonderful trip. Don't stress it. I do agree with the review for packing for your land tour, that was not so great, but if you pack well, it should be fine.

  6. We did do it thru the cruise and enjoyed it very much. We had a wonderful tour leader, learned a lot. But saying that, we would do it on our own next time. I think if you do a lot of research you would do well. There is so much to learn from the people who live there, it is not just the sites that are interesting. But really do your research or talk to people who where there. A wonderful State.

  7. rhlaw: Do you buy that onboard or pre cruise? I don't see it in the cruise planner.

    Thanks

We buy pre cruise. You have to go into your reservations, to the packages and take it all the way through to almost buying it. That will show you the three packages they have. I don't know why they changed it, it wasn't like that before.Just a heads up, only hit one of your names on the reservation, otherwise you will be buying double the bottles. Unless you want that much.

  8. How does the wine package work please?

You purchase the package you want, then on your room key, there should something to show that you purchased the package. When you go to dinner, show the wine stewart what package you have and he will let you know what wines are available. If you don't finish the bottle they will hold it for the next night. I just found out that you can also get a bottle to take to your room, or have it somewhere else on the ship. If you don't use the amount of bottles you purchased, you will be able to take the remainder home with you.

  9. In the beginning of our Cruise history we did the ship excursions. But the more we cruise we have ventured out to do our own thing. We look at the price and what we are getting with Celebrity. We have been very happy with most of our excursions. We are going on a 14 night Med. cruise in September and a little disappointed with some of the excursions they offer. So we will be doing some ports on our own. It does help to have others to share the cost. I guess it comes down to what do we want to do and if the excursions offered are worth the price. If not we do our own. I think it also goes down to what do you want out of this cruise.

  10. We did that tour 2 years ago. A wonderful cruise tour and cruise. We loved it.

The first day in Anchorage you just meet your tour leader in the afternoon and get some information, the day is yours, we were out in Anchorage in the morning, came back for our meeting and went out again. The hotel held our luggage, because our room was not ready. We flew in the day before and stayed at a holiday inn and then took a taxis in the morning to our hotel in Anchorage, which was the Marriott, don't know if it is the same now.

We stayed at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge the next night, they will take you to Talkeetna, small town. If it is a good day you hopefully will see Mt. McKinley. In Denali,we did a Celebrity Hike that was the first night, which was very interesting. The people who work there are so interesting. In Denali, we stayed at the Grande Denali Lodge, up on the mountain, That is were Princess and Holland America has their lodges too. Nice little town, places to eat. They have a shuttle to take you down into the town, or you can walk down the hill. On one day, you will spend ,on a nice school bus, with a snack box snack, going into Denali National Park, which is AMAZING! You can order a box lunch to go, for that. Then the next night you will go to Alyeska, we did a glacial hike there, there are other excursions, too. We never made it up to the restaurant on the mountain, but had the best pizza at the bar area. Just be warned it is expensive there, but worth every penny. Talk to the people who work at these places, they are so interesting.

It was one of the most amazing and wonderful cruises we had. Have a great trip The train was also great, you can have drinks at your seat and go to eat breakfast and lunch.

Hope this gives you a little of an idea of the tour.

  11. We love both classes. We agree with everyone above as what is on each class, but no one has mentioned the bathrooms in the S class. I love the the bathrooms on them. They are far superior to the M class,in regular rooms, below suites. But we still love the M class, because less people, a cozy ship. Would not hesitate to go on either.

  12. When checking in at the Pier, after getting your Boarding Passes there is usually a "speciality restaurant" desk that they may send you to or just stop on by there. In my experience you should be able to negotiate a good price on the package prior to boarding.

I booked a three night package already. Do you know if they have a better deal at the desk, would we be able to get the difference or upgrade to a 5 night. I didn't think the price was too bad on line, but if we could save , that would be nice.

  13. We are considering using the hop on hop off bus in Genoa. Can anyone tell me if we can purchase the pass in Genoa or should I book it on line? Also do you know if it does come to the port. Would rather wait till we get there, to see if we really want to do that.

Also any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We are planning on doing it on our own

    Thanx

  14. What emails are you using to get your tickets? I just ordered mine yesterday and am having the same problem. I did email them at the coopculture.it address. Is there another one I should try.

  15. Thank you. This isn't the first time we bought the wine package, but we didn't know about being able to have it in other places. I thought I had seen it on these boards, just couldn't fine it.
