  1. Have also seen specials on board. no reason to do it ahead of time. And you do understand internet on X is veeeeeeerrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy slow.

Because it is so slow, I normally logon in the middle of the night following one of my normal bathroom visits. It's fast when most other guests are asleep. Also good on port days when others leave the ship.

  2. I had to book on board to get the discount. When I booked prior to the cruise it didn't recognize that I was select and charged the regular price. It was a hassle getting the discount applied on board. I've found it best to just purchase on board by logging in on the ship and it seems to know your captains club level and automatically apply the discount.

Depends on your captains club level.

10% off a single internet package if your classic

25% off a single internet package if your select

Think free 90 minute package if your elite

You're correct ... elite level is 90 minutes free and elite plus is 200 minutes free.

  3. IMHO seems to me that this coincides with the "rumors" about Celebrity going all "Select Dining". The lower sections of the dining rooms are empty so much of the time, after first seating that they have had to open that up to Select. Many more folks are doing Select than fixed dining times. I don't und erstand why they still have fixed times. If you like to dine at 5:30 or 6:00 or 8:30 then do it.

    Let's see what happens.

We completely agree. I can't imagine having to dine with the same people every night on a cruise, especially a long one. Kay and I like to meet new people so we normally ask to be seated with others but the others change every night. Doing away with fixed time dining would be great for us. Like you say, it opens many new tables that are under-utilized now.

  4. So if I have non-findable OBC and I don't use it, I am out? When did this begin? I didn't see any announcement regarding this change.

That's what non-refundable means. You can use the credits in hundreds of ways as my DW seems to find. I've never worried about it being left over.

As far as I know, this has always been the case. Has anyone seen it otherwise?

  5. I am considering booking a cruise on the Summit departing this Saturday!!! the 23rd and looking at flying from Toronto to Miami and then on to San Juan. Surely this won't be a problem? Or am I being naive!?!?

Latest maps show heavy snow and ice is all below Toronto so a direct flight to Miami may be doable. It depends on where your plane originated before arriving in Toronto. If it had to come from anywhere in the mid-Atlantic coast, it might never show up in Toronto.

  6. Hi. I am new to Celebrity and will be in Aqua Class. I'm a little confused about the dining. Do we have to eat in Blu or are we able to eat in the MDR as well? I never get to dress up in my "normal" life so would love to do so on formal night. Thanks.

We have been able to eat in the MDR although we prefer Blu. Celebrity is going to try their best to accommodate your dining wishes so just ask them what's possible but do try to reserve ahead of time.

  7. Hi Libbie,

We are in the same boat (pun sorta-kinda intended!). We had the classic package applied, but it does not show up on our reservation. Our TA sent an updated invoice, but all it has on it is that there is "an instand discount complements of" our TA. The beverage package is not stated on the invoice at all!

Like you said, it makes me a little uncomfortable for X to wait 4 - 6 weeks to apply it to my reservation. 10 days isn't much time to get things resolved if it doesn't show up!

Our TA sends us a booking agreement contract that clearly states we will get the Classic Drinks package and that the TA is paying our on-board gratuities. Here is an extract of the statement:

2B) Amenity: You are set to receive Classic drink package and pre-paid gratuities.

You should have such a statement in your TA contract also. That is really all the assurance I need no matter if it shows up on the reservation with Celebrity or not.

  8. I have got US T/A and on my first contact was told my transatlantic cruise did not qualify. I got a quote from a different T/A and forwarded it to her to show that cruise did qualify. This was her response.

"The cruise line very specifically states, that this promotion is for new bookings ONLY, cancel rebooks not applicable.

    Promotion Rules

This Offer is applicable on select Celebrity Cruises that depart between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013. This promotion is not applicable for guarantee cabins. This offer is based on availability and subject to change without notice and is not combinable with all fare codes. Some restrictions may apply. Credit for previous purchases is not permitted and guests who previously booked, cancelled and then rebooked during this period are not eligible.

I am very sorry but the cruise line is very strict on these requirements."

I have also got Choiceair booking, not sure what to do next.

Evidently, Celebrity is not so strict with these requirements. Last night, my TA booked us on Millennium out of Shanghai to Vancouver in April 2014 into an Aqua Class guarantee cabin and we got the Classic drink package from Celebrity for free and the TA paid our on-board gratuities. So we got over $2000 of benefits on tickets that only cost us a little over $5000 for the two of us. So they are applying these new perks to 2014 cruises and to guarantee bookings.

  9. We were on Reflection in Aqua Class suite 2152 (on hump). It was great - 300 sq ft and much to same as an S2. Here are a few pictures. (We never heard any toilet-flushing noises.)

Thanks, it looks like a great suite. Will try one of these in the future. 2152 is under the swimming pool area. Did you hear any noise from the pool?

What was the purpose of the pole by the bed? We're you in a disabled cabin?

The pole was supporting the deck above. But I used it as an aid to get out of bed. Got used to it and now want to install one at my house. :D

Evidently, this pole is in all aft corner sky suites. It shows in the stock photos on Celebrity's web site. But it really is no problem (to us anyway).

  11. 2210 is available... the one next to the corner aft.... any advice there.

I'm thinking of just doing aqua class and the hump now but not sure.

That is a S2 Sky Suite and should be very good. We really like aft cabins and this looks like a good one. Cabin is listed as 300 sg ft with a 79 ft balcony.

That is a very nice size.

    Have a good time.

  12. Ship: Reflection

    Cabin #: 9376

    Deck #:9

    Class: S1

    Area: 300 sf

    Bed near: Veranda

Quiet?: Yes, except for toilets being flushed at night

    Balcony view: aft and starboard

    Balcony size: 79 sf

    Wind a problem?: No

    Soot a problem?: Yes

Problems/comments: For us, this is just about the perfect cabin. Lots of room and storage. Aft location encourages walking which we need. Go to this discussion thread to see photos: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1746981

We did have a lot of soot on the balcony and had to put down towels on the chairs to avoid stains to clothing. It was hard for the cabin attendants to clean without splashing water on the balcony below. They tried their best and cleaned it with wet towels and mops but it was still a problem. There is a support pole near the left side of the bed that I got used to pretty fast. Not a problem, really. Helped me get out of bed at night. The sound of toilets being flushed, especially at night, was pretty loud but that was true all over the ship.

The central mirror in the bath is heated so it does not fog up during showers. Nice feature we had not seen before. We will stay in this cabin again in a heart beat.

  13. these pics were a huge help!! thank you!!!

Now, are all the connecting rooms like this or just the suites??

Only the aft corner Sky Suites are like this as far as I know. I thought that was the object of your original question. I do know in walking around that other rooms have doors like the ones in Gig103's YouTube video. But BOOGS's statement about connecting interior doors is also correct. It just depends.

If you will specify exactly which suite you are talking about, someone will probably know. But the aft corner sky suites are like the one in my photos.

  14. This is the second 2 day run beginning for invited guests. Most are in the travel industry. She will return for a 3 day trip starting Wednesday and then the first 7 day run will begin on 12/8. She arrived in Miami on Dec 1 to begin all these short intro runs.

She has been on cruises in the Mediterranean since early October.

  15. Just remembered this photo, you can see the third door behind the butler's left shoulder. When it is closed, it creates a vestibule that allows our suite and the room that is to the right of the butler to be "connected" inside the third locked door. A neat way of doing it.
