Verify is set that it’s required to have a test result but that’s not required for my cruise. Do I have to get test results?

When I completed ours, I had to put in our vaccine information and upload pictures of our vaccine cards.  Once they reviewed our cards and confirmed they were legitimate and we were fully vaccinated, they removed the test requirement and said we were ready to sail.

  2. We ate at Cucina del Capitano on our Halloween cruise on the Sunshine. We were suite guests and when we got to our room the day we boarded, we had a certificate for a free dinner there or JiJi Asian Kitchen. Since I don't care for Asian food, we went to Cucina instead. We really enjoyed our meal there. I had Nonna's meatballs to start, I don't remember what my husband had. For my main dish, I had the steak with rosemary potatoes, and it was delicious. My husband had the chicken Parmesan, which he enjoyed, I don't remember what his side was. Again, for dessert, I don't remember his side, but I had lemon sorbet, and it was also very good.

  3. The upsell fairy has been working overtime on that cruise! We are doing the same cruise and last week we got a call as well. We went from a balcony to an ocean suite for $300. I know lots of people in both the roll call here on CC plus the group on social media that I am in have gotten calls from the upsell fairy, which is awesome considering it was a sold out cruise! The theory is that perhaps lots of people had to cancel in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, so in turn lots of rooms opened up. Doesn't really matter the reason why, I am just thrilled we got a call too!

  4. We got an upsell call for our May 2015 cruise on the Splendor. It was $600 to go from our balcony to a grand suite. Since there were 4 of us in the room, we thought we would appreciate all the extra space, so we went for it. We stayed on the same floor, just moved from the aft to mid-ship on the same deck.

  5. I really enjoyed reading your review, especially the Grand Turk part. We will be there in November.

Now, during these concerts, you are told no flash photography, videos or "professional" cameras. I would love to know exactly what they mean by the latter. I had my camera with my nice zoom lens with me, but only noticed one other person with the same. Everyone else was using their cell phones. So, I felt like I was doing something I wasn't supposed to do every time I took a picture, but, at the same time, no one said anything to me. So I have no idea.

When they say "professional" cameras, most mean the nice DSLR cameras with the detachable lenses. Normally point and shoot cameras are fine at concerts but DSLRs are big no-no's.

  6. On our cruise last year, we purchased a bottle of rum for my husband and we brought on soda for him to mix with it. It was worth it to us, we are not huge drinkers, but my husband liked having the bottle in our room so he could fix his own drinks. Plus we shared with his uncle and my niece. We even brought some home. We figured it out and it just worked out cheaper for us to do it this way. We are cruising again later this year and we will probably do the same thing again.

  7. When we cruised on the Splendor last May, I was chatting with Malcolm Burn and told him how much fun we had at The Quest the night before. Apparently when he walked away, he told the bartender that whatever we wanted it was on him, so the bartender got my husband's attention and asked what we wanted because it was on Malcolm. So I thought that was pretty awesome of him to do that for us.

  8. When we sailed the Splendor in May, I packed my blow dryer in my checked luggage. Sometime between dropping my luggage off and delivery to our room, my blow dryer was destroyed. Not sure how or by who, but it was no longer able to be used (handle broken, wires hanging out, etc.), so I was forced to use the one in the room. I have short, thick hair and it took forever to dry my hair. Besides not having enough power for my hair, it was also miserable having to hold the button down the entire time to make it work. Hoping to not have the same issue when we cruise the Sunshine next year!

  9. We got an upsell call for our cruise on the Splendor this past May. I got the call about a month before our cruise. We were in a balcony and paid $600 to upgrade to a grand suite. If it had been just me and my husband, we might not have upgraded, but since there were 4 of us and we had the extra money, we decided to take the offer. It was nice having the extra space. My husband's aunt and uncle were also called and they went from one of the "L" shape balcony rooms to a junior suite for an extra $400.
  10. We got the upgrade call for our Splendor cruise today too. Ours was for $600 total for an 8C balcony to a Grand Suite, and we decided to take it. We doubled our room and balcony size plus now we will have VIP check in and priority embarkation/debarkation. We have a group of 4 and the bigger room was definitely a huge factor in our decision to take the deal.

  11. Matt is awesome, although I have only been on one cruise and have no one to compare him to. He is great at his job and you can tell he really loves it! He's also a very funny guy! We loved him!

Here is Matt with me and my niece from the October 14, 2012 sailing of the Glory from Norfolk
